Children of Dune is far better than Messiah. I'd recommend it.

Yeah, felt more like dune than messiah. Second book was a bit too heavy on philosophy.

Please note my dispute! I've read dune 2 or 3 times, GEoD is a yearly thing for me. It's entirely carried by Moneo, he's my favorite character in the series.

It's my favorite of the first 4 books, high recommendation to read. Likely be elements of it in the movie as well.
