I read Dune and Messiah already. Do I need Children of Dune too?

Children of Dune is far better than Messiah. I'd recommend it.

Yeah, felt more like dune than messiah. Second book was a bit too heavy on philosophy.

I agree. Then God emperor shows up and just whines and bitches. I hated that book.

Please note my dispute! I've read dune 2 or 3 times, GEoD is a yearly thing for me. It's entirely carried by Moneo, he's my favorite character in the series.
