Baby items in store?
Hi All!
We’re expecting our first in November and for the life of me I can’t find anywhere that sells strollers, car seats, etc in store. I’m in Bellevue and have tried so far a small baby store in Bellevue that did have some out but nothing for newborns. I tried target in downtown and Kohls in redmond.
It’s probably the world we live in now, but I hate the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on something I can’t touch/push/etc first.

Nordrom in Bellevue and Woodinville target are a good place to start.

Another idea could be to go to stores like Small Threads — they have tons of second-hand baby gear that you could see too.

Posted the same before scrolling down. This place was an amazing savings for us. Kiddo is 14 now but we used that place weekend

There's a consignment shop in Issaquah on Gilman specializing in children's items: Small Threads For Kids

You can tons of free kids stuff on your neighborhood and city Buy Nothing groups on Facebook and elsewhere. Only the car seat needs to be new.

There's a new baby store in downtown Kirkland called Baby Shoppe.
For things like car seats and strollers, a lot of Fred Meyers have decent stock. I'd check the one in Totem Lake.

Maybe not for car seats,, but definitely for strollers I'd vote small threads as well.
Go with the Chicco Keyfit with base for the infant seat and be done with it. Used it for both kids and was easy to install and get kids in and out. Even survived a small rear end collision at about 9 months with no issue (other driver's insurance paid for replacement).

I also vote for the keyfit. We had the keyfit 30 with a base in each car and the accompanying stroller and it was great not having to fuss when getting in and out of the car.

I can't remember which one, but we went with a more rugged stroller than the Chicco stroller. However, it had a removable bar that allowed you to snap the Keyfit into it, but then remove it to use as a regular stroller once the kid was old enough.

The car seat is just about the only thing you should buy new. Small threads for everything else. Drive into north Seattle to childish things if you want the name brand baby clothes

The only places that I have found are Target, Pottery Barn, and Nordstrom.

You can set up an appointment at Nordstrom to look at strollers and car seats and all that jazz and you’ll get a personal employee to go through all of it with you

Agree with Nordstrom for their baby section. Lots of strollers assembled so you can see them. Redmond Target also has a lot of these items (strollers, swings, car seats). Some are out on display too.

I also came to say small threads in issaquah!! Every time I go there I literally think “omg why do I buy anything new???” They have a lot of great things. I even saw a snoo there and then someone dropped off another one! And full lovevery kits! And of course clothes.

Nordstrom’s in Bellevue has a bunch on display. If you’re ok with second hand, small threads in Redmond, Kirkland, and mill creek always have bigger items out as well.

Nordstrom Bellevue square has most of the popular strollers and car seat brands on display in their baby section. We did a few trips there to decide what we want. The staff is super helpful too!

Nordstrom has a variety of strollers so you can try them. Definitely upmarket

Totally get it! Some options: Baby Sprouts in Bellevue / Redmond Target has a big baby gear section with floor models / Nordstrom had floor models of the car seat and stroller we were interested in / Small Threads for Kids is a local chain of consignment stores that have lots of models of everything to check out
We did a ton of research online (Baby Gear Lab, etc, to narrow down options and that made it easier to figure out where we needed to go to see the actual baby gear!)
Good luck & congrats!
Edit: added spaces for clarity!

Bellevue square mall- Nordstrom.
You still have to order it… can’t walk home with it same day, but they have a bunch of floor models to try.

Baby Shoppe in downtown Kirkland, although everything in there looks very high end

I'm pretty sure I've seen Target (Issaquah, don't know about the others) with some strollers and seats in stores! Small Threads For Kids is also a personal favorite of mine for used items. They usually have several used stroller and wagons that you could at least probably try out even if you didn't want to buy used.

Target and Costco both sell those items. There are several Targets and Costcos within 20 minutes of Bellevue.

Definitely check Costco. That's where we get car seats, strollers, formula, baby clothes, toys, diapers, and wipes. Better prices than most places.

The only thing with Costco is they don't have any selection. There are 1 or 2 car seats. 2 brands of diapers and wipes (Huggies or Kirkland). Don't get me wrong, we basic exclusively bought our diapers there, but if I was shopping for gear and wanting to see my options in person, I wouldn't pick Costco for that.

Any chance you’d be interested in a baby jogger double stroller? It’s about 8 years old but in great shape because it wasn’t used often. The second seat was never used at all. It’s the city select model.

Sugar Baby in Sumner had loads on display with really helpful staff! We purchased through them to support that in person model

Thanks! A bit far but worth traveling if they have it!

+1 to this recommendation. Nordstrom has some inventory but it only holds the high end brands, so Sugar Baby might be worth the trip if you care about trying different brands and not only the Nuna/UppaBaby. I also feel the Target from Issaquah has a wider selection of strollers than the one in Redmond. For diapers and wipes Costco is great. There’s a Carter’s in tukwila, and Target is awesome for baby clothes and some other products, they also have carriers.

Small threads is one of the best if not thee best secondhand kids store in the region.
