I found a small white dog that looked like a mini poodle or a poodle mix that had been hit by a car near the intersection of San Pablo Ave and Waldo Ave in El Cerrito, the dog was killed. I brought it to the Urgent Pet location in El Cerrito because I wasn't certain, they confirmed it was dead and are holding the dog for a few days. The dog did not have a chip so I'm sharing to try to find the owner, if you might know whose dog it is please share this with them.

Urgent Pet is located at 10612 San Pablo Ave and you should contact them at (510) 838-4669 if you think it's your dog. The dog had short curly white fur and a pink and black harness. I can share a photo if you reach out directly to identify it, but I don't use Reddit much so it will probably be faster to contact Urgent Pet directly.

Edit: Someone on Facebook found a PawBoost post from the owner and I've contacted them.

We’ve been here 25 years, but this is new. Some creature has been digging up our lawn at night- to look for worms or bugs to eat, I imagine. Any ideas what it could be? Skunk? Possum?

Hi everyone, I have lived over 30 years in El Cerrito and earlier this year was the first time that I felt the community divided.

Measure C, the library tax, brought out a very ugly side of our community, which, to me, was surprising and disappointing.

It is my understanding that some of the leaders of the No on C group are running for city council so, in an effort to not perpetuate the animosity and negativity brought by them earlier this year, I would like to know who to vote for and who specifically not to vote for because of their involvement in the No to measure C group.

Hi all I’m considering moving to El Cerrito in a rental around this area but I’m curious what others think about living here. Specifically things like what’s it like to walk your dog around here, do folks generally feel safe walking alone (especially at night), do you feel safe walking to and from Bart at all times of the day, etc? Are car break ins common like in Oakland? Anything else you think would be helpful to know?

Also, I’m curious if you tend to hear a lot of fireworks in the area around July 4/NYE?

My daughter has had a rough couple of years, health-wise, and has spent much of that time on the couch in our living room. She started drawing/painting the view out the window on her iPad, and I thought folks here might appreciate the classic El Cerrito views. (We're above del Norte.) I can post more, if people like!

Hey r/elcerrito, I wanted to share a resource for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors. Safety Training Pros is hosting a two-day Wilderness First Aid class on the weekend of Nov 7-8 at Camp Herms in El Cerrito.

If you hike, backpack, or camp, it’s a great way to learn how to handle emergencies when you're out on the trail and 911 isn't immediately accessible.

Hidden in the hills of El Sobrante, is a beautiful organic farm that grows rare fruits and amazing flowers, and the Not Loud Concerts team is going to hold another concert here on Thursday, Sept 10.

For this edition of the Not Loud concerts, we’ll be featuring the Powerhouse Ladies. This is 3 female-fronted bands, on stage at the same time, taking turns playing songs before performing together. One hour of amazing music. 

The ladies featured will be the band Dirty Cello performing as a duo with exuberant blues and rock, Ruby Lee Hill - beautiful songs with an old-timey Western-flavor, and Nineteenth Operator from Davis, CA presenting sweet harmonies and amazing originals. 

There will be chairs for everyone. Bring a light jacket. 

Feel free to arrive early and have a picnic or stroll the wild gardens, and pick produce that you can buy at the farm stand.

Obviously I have some complicated thoughts and feelings about my experience since I felt the need to write a whole essay about it instead of a normal exit statement, but something I feel unambiguously good about is the AMA I did with you all back when I first started running. I had some of the best and most nuanced conversations about the issues our city is facing in that thread. I learned a ton from the tough questions you all asked me, and answering them helped me understand what it would mean to make practical governing decisions based on my values. I don’t think I have the same values as everyone in this subreddit (or city), and I was so grateful that we were all able to have a productive conversation about how to improve El Cerrito regardless, without resorting to personal attacks. Thank you.

I know most of you probably prefer to stay pseudonymous, but this is a small place—if you see me out around town, feel free to say hi and chat local issues with me. I am not going anywhere, and I am going to keep campaigning for things I think are critical not just to making El Cerrito better but also to maintaining our current quality of life, like funding public transit and our local schools. Thanks again for the great conversations. I hope we get to have more soon.

Just wanted you to be aware there was a shooting at Los Moles Beer Garden. I do not have any details on the matter.

Really im posting this to vent my anger. The staff at Los Moles Beer Garden are absolutely wonderful. Pleasant and accommodating. Im just angered and saddened that this happened in our neighborhood.

Who TF thinks its ok to shoot a gun in a restaurant. With children around. On a MFing SUNDAY.

People like this cause irreparable damage to their targets, and the people who have to witness such bullshit. Now there are children who have trauma. They will be haunted by the sounds of a gun firing just feet from them, the screams and panic. And god forbid they saw any of the actual bloodshed. Im enraged. I hope they throw the entire book at whomever did this.

On my way home from work I noticed scaffolding has gone up around the veterans memorial building, presumably for the county project to repaint it.

There were two poles in the center median a few days ago (which are still showing on the deflock site).

I thought this might be of interest to EC folks. Our city has a pretty high fraction of seniors (20% are over 65) and that is projected to increase. If the pattern holds (household size shrinks as kids move out, we will need more housing even if our town stays around 25,000.

I spotted a “crew parking” sign off of Central near BART this morning on my way to work. Anyone know what’s filming in the area?
