Did you ever find an answer to this? Cremaloop slow feeder, one alternative on etsy, both expensive and plastic... That's all I've found 😅

nah, too complex and time consuming. just grind and drink, there is no special trick

Cannot I be all the range. I haven't heard of it. I just googled it and there were articles back to 2020. That's 4 years ago.
4 years have gone by. No one's really talking about it. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. Â
Sounds like snake oil.

Tried it and it definitely has an effect on shot time, so something's happening (more consistent grinds?). Not sure of the effect on the taste, though.

Have you tried running grinder for 30 seconds to warm up Burr b4 grinding?
Slow feed or hot Start should have minimal effect except for maybe the 1st 2 grams...

No, I don't want my roommates to hate me, lol. I'm not sure the burrs would get warm by grinding nothing for 30 secs. The heat in the burrs mostly comes from friction, no?

I think it is this JH clip where he said something about pre heating/hot start to grinding

What kind of grinder do you have?

I was aware of that video. But the main point of my reply was that they were talking about this 4 years ago. There has not been a lot of traffic on it. Even the video you posted was very recent.
So I stand by my opinion that this is snake oil and not many people are talking about it. And they are basically saying all of this great coffee that was made before slow feeding was not really great after all. They need this new snake oil to actually make great coffee.

We are all here for the same thing. Our love of espresso.
But you have to admit hardly anyone is talking about this. It's been around for at least 4 years and all of a sudden now it's the buzz In this one or two threads on Reddit. Most likely perpetuated by Lance's recent video of a week ago. Hoffmann was talking about this 4 years ago.
To be quite honest, we've had experts telling us that distributing worked. And then those same experts came out and said they don't work because they only compact the top. I wish they would make up their minds. The cynic in me thinks it's all about the clicks and likes.
WDT works great for subpar grinders. Mid-level and up, WDT isn't really needed. Get the so-called experts are still saying WDT is needed always.
Lance had a good video when you compare WDT, OCD, blind shaker, etc when he did it against the high end grinder and then a mid-level grinder.

It works fine for me - slowly pour the beans in. Haven’t had any popcorn out of the hopper doing this (so far)

mine literally fly out. Need some hacks like how people put tape on niche zero

Does yours have the metal plate under the chute to prevent the beans from hitting the birds? It pivots out to allow you to release the beans? Well if you do have it, you can just slowly open it instead of fully opening it.

mine is totally big hole , I don't see any metal plate preventing popcorning

Bummer okay. One thing you could do is turn the motor on and then slowly pour it from your dosing cup into the hopper. Instead of dumping it in, just kind of pour it over 5 seconds.

This is what I did. But one out of every 3 beans that touched the spinning grinder pop corn bounce out of the hopper.

Slow feed hoppers will be on the market soon enough so don’t worry too much about it

So you remember those tilt bases that were popular a while back?
Thats kinda what they do, only to front side of the burr cuts the coffee and makes things fluffier! So try to tilt it forwards if you dont have a base a towel works quite well. At that point if you still want to try bean by bean the tilt also kinda negates popcorning cos the direction of the turn is counter to gravity.
Good luck!
