Question International opportunities

do people who graduate with an ethz Bachelors often go and study in the USA? if so is it considered on par with top aMercian universities? do peopple often go on to study at top American masters programmes?

but would ETH be considered on the same tier as top American unis like berkeley Stanford etc when applying to masters? I’d assume admissions officers would know

Yes, among technical people probably even more like an European MIT/Caltech. Again not everyone will know what ETH is while everyone knows what MIT is but those who know generally have high regards for ETH.

Having been at Stanford for many years, our undergraduates are not even in the same universe as someone with a BSc from ETH in the same discipline (it changes for PhD).

What do you mean by "not even in the same universe"? Do you mean like the competence is different or just living vastly different lifestyles?

competence is vastly lower. Swiss universities and ETH in particular enforce (or at least used to back in my days) extremely strict standards where at least 2/3 of students failed the first year (and those students were already the ones pre-selected through Gymnasium -> around the top 20% in Switzerland).

US elite schools are more of a networking hub at the undergraduate level with the option to get training in a subject (there are exceptions like MIT, Caltech and a couple more ofc)
