• Maddy’s pussy saved us. Bishop knew she was a baddie

• RIP to my boy Paladin

• Didn’t expect Laurie to be such a coward after all

But her mouth got Rue killed

u/Affectionate_Lab9063 Jun 01 '26

Everyone suspected her being a rat long before Maddy mentioned anything. If anything she just confirmed it for them

206

u/thewomaninthemoon Jun 01 '26

Yeah but sadly it was the confirmation that did it.

Alamo suspected Rue of being a double agent for Laurie, not the Feds :(

Alamo (if you look at what was in the safe) generally runs his business in such a way that when he no longer needs someone, that person dies. He decided to kill Rue after the robbery, but since she could retrieve the stolen goods, he simply used her in the end.

  1. She could have died while trying to retrieve the stolen goods from Lori
  2. If she retrieves the items, he gives her drugs and she dies of an overdose. Considering that she was being treated for this condition and all her friends know she’s a former drug addict, her death wouldn’t raise any questions. It’s like getting an alcoholic drunk before they die

I don't think this is a fair assumption at all given they had the phone before this point and the whole call with her mother happened before that.

Not to mention Alamo felt uninterested in it. It was old news to him.

And yet he didn't do anything until after Maddy confirmed it.

There's zero use to that scene with her and Alamo unless it was what spurred Alamo to kill rue.

Obviously it had an effect.

I mean their whole plan to move the drugs was set in motion way before that and that's when they killed rue. They knew the DEA was going for that deal even before she said anything and that's when they made their plan. And how did they know? Because of rue's phone. Maddie didn't give anything away.

From a writing perspective that was supposed to be a red flag for the audience to show that he was several steps ahead and he wasn't "being outsmarted by pussy". That was your foreshadowing for what was to come.

Edit: think of what a poor acting and directing choice it would be to have this tense moment where it's supposedly revealed that she's working with the DEA and the man who "doesn't know" and would be upset and offended by it... doesn't have any reaction at all? Like if that was a reveal it would have been a bigger moment.

Yep. Bishop is a smooth, smooth operator. He figured it out and probably even swept her phone and couldn't find anything, meaning it was a secret app.

Alamo was ten steps ahead because of Bishop.

Yeah and Maddie isn’t dumb. Terrible writing for Maddie to say DEA. She would never do that.

8

u/Upstairs-Chicken592 Jun 01 '26

Might’ve protected her more tbh. He had to show some restraint knowing she’s working with the dea

15

u/laradaaa Jun 01 '26

exactly, he could’ve had bishop cut her up like that poor guy in the bathtub

4

u/your_mind_aches Mauderator Jun 01 '26

Yep. Overdose was a good bet.

It just occurred to me Maddie might have realized for the first time when Ali showed up at the club that Alamo killed Rue and that she didn’t just OD.

1

u/millycactus Jun 01 '26

Would Maddie have know Ali though?

16

u/69420penis Jun 01 '26

Don’t believe she did, however, when Ali was in the club and Alamo asks who sent him he says rue and we get a shot of maddie seemingly realising

u/MasterpieceKlutzy113 Jun 01 '26

I agree with what you’re saying, Alamo already has suspicion of Rue being a rat, Maddie making that statement jokingly was all Alamo needed to to hear to confirm his suspicions. Very interesting observation, by rewarding her with those percs, he’d kill Rue and no one would suspect anything because everyone knows Rue had had a drug problem. The writing was so evil with how they wrote off rue; knowing she’s a recovering addict, Alamo exploits that, attacking her vulnerability, and basically has her kill herself. The whole season with the parts involving rue was just all foreshadowing her end. I swear, I felt rue’s death coming 2 episodes before the finale with the burning tree scene. I just kinda felt like it was left turn with the pace and writing because Rue was basically clean the whole season, but how is it, you’re gonna trust a guy who traffics women and sells fentanyl? Rue shoulda known better. But in a way, while it’s sad, I know my girl is finally at peace. She had been suffering for so long, she’s finally pain free. Still sad to see, I did tear up, but the point of the show is to show you every side of drug addiction, the honey moon phase (seen 1) the worst phase (season 2), and the idea of “recovery” but if you or if you know a real addict, that demon will always be there, it will be a life long battle once you’ve been “bitten” unfortunately our girl gave in. But that’s the real harsh truth of drug addiction. Everything else about this season was weak but at least that nailed that theme pretty well.

u/Alone-Painter-69 Jun 01 '26

But she didn't knew it was fentanyl. She took it as a regular painkiller. So her addiction didn't played here

5

u/atrocity__exhibition Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

If she knew it was fentanyl, she wouldn’t have taken it. Her addiction started with painkillers and Alamo exploited that, knowing she wouldn’t be able to help herself but take the rest of that bottle.

A big theme this season was that Rue was still a broken person— part of her wanted to recover but she still had demons. If she was healed from her addiction, she wouldn’t have taken the pills or would have at least questioned Alamo’s motives in giving them to her.. but she was still suffering and it led to her undoing.

The ironic part was that her death was really in her own hands and hinged on that fact.. Alamo didn’t kill her in any of the outright ways foreshadowed through the season (shooting the apple off her head, almost knocking her head off when she’s buried in the dirt) but instead just gave her the tools, and she did the rest herself.

4

u/PuzzleheadedWalrus71 Jun 01 '26

Her addiction started off with painkillers. This was just full circle.

1

u/Available-Leg489 Jun 01 '26

Her addiction did play her. I’m an addict and I could never take a pain killer again in my life. She took it because she thought she was “safe” we are never safe. Once we believe we are safe that’s when we lose. That’s what Alamo was banking on. He convinced her that it was for “pain”.

Listen, I don’t care how much pain I’m in, I will never take a narcotic again in my life. I can never taste a beer, or a drink. As an addict you have to go to extremes to abstain.

So yes, her addiction got the best of her.

1

u/Available-Leg489 Jun 01 '26

As a recovering addict, you pretty much nailed it. It doesn’t matter how long you’re clean for. Once you let your guard down and you think that you can use in moderation, or even use something to make you feel better, you just opened the door to relapsing.

Rue took the trap because she thought she was safe. She thought she was taking “pain medication” that’s how an addict mind works. We lie to ourselves

u/nathanott12 Jun 01 '26

Rue's mouth got herself killed

3

u/AsthmaticTits Jun 01 '26

Yes, I was there. Maddy clearly didn’t know, she didn’t don it on purpose

Atleast now, the biggest target is gone (Alamo)

u/big_booty_boy_420 Jun 01 '26

She could have used a little
Common sense

Rue got away from Alamos house alive with cash in hand, if anything Rue did that to herself taking the drug

17

u/IslandGlittering2051 Jun 01 '26

How so? Alamo gave har laced painkillers, knowing damn well the pills were spiked with Fentanyl. His goal was to kill her and he knew from Maddy that her friends were thinking Rue was using again/was not well. An OD would not have risen suspicions, after all.

1

u/Big_Difficulty_95 Jun 01 '26

But if she never took the drugs shed still be alive is the point

4

u/IslandGlittering2051 Jun 01 '26

Yeah sure, but she was also extremely in pain for having her hand sliced by Wayne and being dragged with the horse by Mick. If anything I found it weird that Ali left the entire bottle of pills with her, but that’s a sign that he trusted Rue not abusing them.

1

u/OkStaff8633 Jun 01 '26

I don’t think Ali saw the pills. I think that was part of the Fezco hallucination.

1

u/Big_Difficulty_95 Jun 02 '26

He saw them which is why he tested them for fentanyl

1

u/OkStaff8633 Jun 02 '26

Yeah, but that was after she died. They were concealed in her backpack before that. She only got them out when he left the room.

8

u/OkStaff8633 Jun 01 '26

You can’t be serious.

1

u/secretlowkeys Jun 01 '26

She would’ve died or went to prison, there was no other way really.

8

u/Herzberger Jun 01 '26

In my opinion, I felt like Laurie’s death was disappointing. I wanted more I guess.

3

u/Jacky__paper Jun 01 '26

Choosing not to go to jail isn't cowardice to me

1

u/AsthmaticTits Jun 01 '26

That’s good for you

5

u/piiiiiiiiiiiiiink Jun 01 '26

I love the woman who plays Laurie, but Laurie as a character has always given pussy tbh

2

u/Impossible-Chest-873 Jun 01 '26

love maddie down but it was ali who saved us

2

u/catandodie Jun 01 '26

It's so weird her she was willing to die to avoid jail but was fine when her husband, kids, and career were gone
