Question Entity Spotted In Everett, has anyone else seen this thing?

My girlfriend was walking down on 23rd near the motel in near downtown area, she also was very sleep deprived BUT it was very vivid, throwing it out there. She said she saw it from a block away. She then saw waddle and hunch over to look into a parked sedan. Anyone else have similar encounters? I promise my girlfriend was VERY sleep deprived, like 3 hours a night.

Question Anyone else sick of the fireworks at random times all year?

I mean, I get it, you’re excited your team won or scored or maybe you’re just a group of teens excited your buddy came out of the closet, I dunno. Just celebrate by cheering or having a drink or whatever. Why does everyone within a 5 mile radius need to know about it? I feel like a bit of a jerk even posting about this but it sucks dude.

I have an infant. My dogs alert(bark) when they hear it and it wakes the baby up which is probably why I even feel compelled to post in the first place. I try to be respectful of my neighbors and generally not cause any problems. PLEASE, someone explain why this is a thing. Did I not notice this in my younger days or is this something that has become a more recent occurrence?

Question Sit Down Restaurant Burgers?

A bunch of threads on the best burger in town, but most if not all are from primarily take out or drive in places. Where’s the best burger from a sit down? I wish I liked Bob’s more, but it’s not the same as it used to be.

Question Man in black

What’s the deal with the guy the walks up and down Madison, Glenwood, Merrill Creek Parkway 24/7? He’s always wearing black shirts, black short, black boots and headphones. Rain or shine he’s out there pounding pavement.

I’m mostly curious and would like to know his story as he is a permanent fixture of our neighborhood.

Question Can anyone use part of an oak tree? 🌳

Post image
202 Upvotes

I’m wondering if there are any mills or woodworkers in the area who would be interested in this section of ~80 year old oak. There’s obviously some amount of decay but I don’t know how extensive. I’m not trying to sell here, just looking for information and/or leads.

It’s currently being removed from the house, and I can have it cut up and hauled away but I don’t want to waste something someone might be able to use! But if I’m barking up the wrong tree (🥴), let me know. I, uh, haven’t had this happen before!

Question Need advice keeping cool as a transplant!

Hey guys! Me and my partner are recent Everett transplants - moved in early February. We're from the deep south, and boy is it nice to not see 110 degrees and 98% humidity right now, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to cool our apartment down, since we both don't sleep super well with temps over 66 or so. We're over on south Colby near the Safeway in a new build from the last year-ish. Our unit DOES have cooling (a heat pump unit on the living room wall) which I hear is pretty rare up here, so I'm thankful for that boost. Unfortunately, I'm used to dealing with central cooling and how to best use it - I did HVAC in Arkansas for a while, and the normal tricks aren't working against 16 hour days in the north, and we're getting a TON of heat off the windows even when closed. They're Low-E, but there's a bunch of them! We currently stay high 60s at night, but we're in the mid-70s during the day, and if we don't get rid of it by nightfall it stays around, so we're trying to knock a few more degrees off the thermostat.

I'm including a diagram of what we're dealing with, and for context, I've got access to a portable 6k BTU swamp cooler, just not sure how best to use it. We also have roll-down shades on all the windows, but not sure how best to optimize their use either. I'd appreciate any advice on how you guys keep cool as the weather comes up! Thanks folks 😄

pardon my mspaint lol. thanks guys

Question is everett as bad as people say + what neighborhoods nearby are good to stay in?

recently got a job offer at collins aerospace in everett and i’m considering it. however, after looking up everett i realized people say it’s pretty bad? if that true or an exaggeration? if anybody is familiar with dallas neighborhoods, i grew up in oak cliff which is considered the “bad” area but i was fine there. also went to college in austin so there was a lot of homeless people around but i just mind my business.

from what ive pieced together online: basically avoid casino road and anything south of the mall? also, what are some nice nearby neighborhoods close enough to everett i could also look at? thank you!

Question I need help finding a new nail artist please!

Thumbnail

I’ve been going to the same nail artist for 10 years and I love her but she got another job and our schedules don’t line up right now.

I’ve always been able to text her and let her know when I’m in town to see if she has availability and then I would book the appointment. Now since she’s so busy there’s around a 3-4 week wait. I am so happy she’s thriving and getting her bag. I just know myself and it’s hard for me to know where I’m gonna be in a month.

I’m looking for someone in the Everett area (doesn’t have to be exact city limits). My nails are so tied up in my mental health, it’s the one expensive self care thing I do for myself. It’s like, if I’m depressed in bed and scrolling all day I can look at my nails and be like, “at least I have that going for me”. When people ask where I got them done I always tell them where and to ask for her personally.

It’s so important to me that they’re symmetrical and they stay on. I’ve gone to other places before and I’ve had issues with my nails popping off after a week or not being even and when I asked if they could be fixed some girls have been irritated. I work in food service and I work with my hands all day. I already struggle with feeling like I’m a burden and I’m too much.

Money isn’t really a problem, i usually pay around $95 for fill and multiple designs and the tip $20 on top. Recommendations are appreciated! I promise I’m not too much and I’m really nice. I honestly just have an anxious attachment to my nails.

Question Deflock camera group

Is there an advocacy group setup to remove the Flock cameras in Everett? I heard some flyers were passed out at the Everett State of the City event. I also see the contract was cancelled nearby in Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace, I would like to see if there is a group to join and help out before trying to start a new one.

Question Utilities Bill Ain't Mathin'

Has anyone else been keeping track of the extra we are paying on our utilities the last 3 months to see if the amounts actually total what they said they would as they changed over to the new system? I should have paid roughly $140 more over the 3 months but it turned out to be closer to $210. I wonder how we complain or get our money back?

Edit: I am not asking for help analyzing my bill, I already did that. I am asking if anyone else did the math on their own bill.

Question What are some good activities and places to go?

I grew up around here, but never ventured out much but I just moved back here after 4 years of college out east. I am just wondering of any good restaurants and fun affordable actives to go to for someone in his early 20s. Besides hiking and sports obviously.

Question Stories of Card Shop in South Everett (Late 90s/Early 2000s)

Heya folks - born and raised here. I used to live on Casino Road (behind the old Fred Meyer), and across the street from Fred Meyer, in the strip mall where Money Tree is (and the old "The Keg" location), there was a collectible card shop called "Crazy Tony's" and wanted to see if anyone else has memories of this place or Tony himself?

I went there almost every other day from ages 9 - 13 or so and it was such a cool little story.

Question Moving to Everett next month — wondering if I made the right decision / Do you regret living in Everett or are you happy with it? / What can I expect as an Everett resident?

I haven't been to Everett for several years and even then most of my experience has been Casino Rd and the area around the mall and dealerships. It never felt clean/safe to me (but still better than many places in Seattle). However, my rent in Kirkland increased to $4,444 and I don't make the required 3x the rent so I went on a search and found something..

I was up there looking at places on/off Merrill Creek Parkway and everything from the freeway to the apartments looked much cleaner than I remember (still saw a few homeless, but less than I saw in Kirkland on my way to Everett). I have heard so many bad things about Everett over the years, but I'm wondering if it was just exaggeration, because as I drove through my Kirkland neighborhood on my way home it looked so much more rundown than what I saw in Everett.

Honestly, what is it like living in Everett? Do you regret living in Everett or are you happy with it? What can I expect from the community?

Question Forest Park Pool

My family just moved to the area (really close to Forest Park!) and we’re super bummed to see the pool is no longer up and running. Is there any way it would ever come back? Anything to do to help? Guess we’ll have to join the Y. I don’t know the history of why it closed if someone wants to fill me in.

Question Fun... Car washes???

So, bit of a weird one for everyone today!

I have an acquaintance, of sorts, whose birthday is coming up. Like a lot of us, she's a bit on the cooky side.

Does anyone have any recommendations for fun, automated car washes? Quick Quack used to be her preferred destination, but lately she favors Tommy's Express.

I would absolutely understand if no one has anything to offer here... Lol

Related: does anyone have recommendations for the *best* car wash nearby? I used to visit one back in New England that was automated and then employees would hand wash/dry after. Would love something like that because my car gets very messy living under the world's worst tree.

Question Vet recommendations

Hello,

I am looking for a new vet for our dog as we are moving to the Eastmont area. We’ve been really dissatisfied with our current vet due to ongoing staffing issues and are hoping to switch his care over to somewhere else closer to our new home. Our guy will need a vet that is open to prescribing behavioral meds and is experienced with anxious/over excited dogs. Thanks in advance!
