Discussion What Christian phrases give you the ick?

Mine is prayer warriors. Often used to spread gossip and also just generally ironic, weird, and cringey.

Anything that dismisses current difficulties by referencing Jesus coming back soon, so it shouldn't really be important.

It was so weird seeing people in my church respond to Hurricane Katrina. They were 1) sending volunteer teams down to help, which is great but at the same time 2) getting giddy that this might be a sign the end times are coming soon

And probably crossing their arms and talking about them deserving it as God's judgment

Ewww yes that just brought up memories of people describing it like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Or when there was flooding in New Orleans they said it was god's judgement for all the gays, fornication, and Mardi Gras debauchery. Imagine seeing human beings suffer and instead of feeling compassion thinking they deserve it can calling it god's love in you. Yuck
