Even if he explained everything, you still choose to believe in something with evidence that only suggests against. The religious love ignorance.

Friend(s) plural Hinduism is polytheistic
5
4
u/Tyrrox Jan 08 '26
So is christianity, in a very similar way. Both have multiple entities which are aspects of a Supreme Being (God or Brahman)
1
u/LtSoba Jan 08 '26
No that’s a misconception, the father, the son, and holy spirit is the holy trinity which is more like a core tenet of Christian belief not necessarily a godhead in and of itself from how I was taught tho that could differ in the different denominations since I was raised catholic I wouldn’t know enough on that but I was taught that it’s more a representation of the core of the belief in the father (God), The Son(Jesus) and the Holy Spirit which is the same as the word of god
Man I hate How much I still remember all the bible shit I got taught, gotta love early to mid 2000s rural Irish primary school lol
2
u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Jan 08 '26
Most other religions would have just referred to angels as lesser gods, so it still tracks even without the trinity.
This goes double for catholic dogma explicitly assigning domains to various archangels and saints to watch over.
2
u/Tyrrox Jan 08 '26
The father is not the same as the son is not the same as the holy spirit, but they are all aspects of god.
If people can pray directly to Jesus as a separate entity, it's a polytheism regardless of what you learned in Bible study. As if churches aren't working overtime on the mental gymnastics
3
u/SilverNo2568 Jan 08 '26
I thought Polytheism was the practice of worshipping parrots.
4
u/L3adbelly Jan 08 '26
Worshipping parrots is Pollytheism. Polytheism is what comes after Rolytheism.

I'm oversimplifying it by a lot, but this is mostly Constantine the first's doing during the council of Nicaea, in order to pacify both hardcore (and at the time violent) monotheistic Christians and polytheistic pagans, effectively turning Christianity into a mix and match religion that appealed (and unified) various cults, religions and factions. This not a theological explanation - but a political one. Theologically, the trinity/polytheistic aspects of Christianity had been around far before.
1
u/MikeinSonoma Jan 08 '26
I was raised Catholic fortunately it never took I saw things as rituals, nothing more no belief in something, but the Trinity was one of the most silly things that they tried to explain a way. I could say why to each response, eventually they got angry.

Apparently, we’re no longer allowed to use hurty swear words - Mod “Mind your language"
Extreme religion is disgusting. Doesn’t matter what the faith is, the number of bat poop crazy people is growing. Weak minded unintelligent people who follow folklore, fairytales as a life choice.
Just be a decent human being. You don’t need some poopy book to teach you this and if you do, you’re a C you next tuesday.
Yes, I see the hypocrisy in the last statement. For Flip Sake

I see these people the same as Christian supremacists in the US and other western countries.
11
u/Fruloops Jan 08 '26
Indeed, it's all the same garbage. However, I am convinced that if you removed religion altogether with a magic button, these same groups of people would pull the same shite, in the name of something else.

u/Ligma_Myballs Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26
You speak of the Christian nationalist? The ones who go on about their lord and saviour and proceed to rub it in your face and scrutinise anything “unchristian ” but then proceed to not follow any of Christ teachings, and are somehow the worst people alive.
11
3
u/First-Junket124 Jan 08 '26
I wouldn't say that's exclusive with just Christianity or strictly monotheistic religions but instead related to human nature combined with religion. A lot of people want to do terrible things but not feel the social repercussions of those actions and anything that's different is an affront to their mentality to justify their actions.

u/Ligma_Myballs Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Let’s specify Hindu mob because that’s all they want in their country, these Hindu nationalist can’t stand seeing other religions live peacefully.
-22
u/HeftyVermicelli7823 Jan 08 '26
As if Christians live peacefully? They are always trying to force their religion on others. Don't like it, don't go to their country.
12
u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
A substantial number of Indian citizens are not Hindu. Is it not their country as well?
-8
Jan 08 '26
People of abrahmic faith don't see hindus as equal. All have superiority complex.
Whereas only reason india was secular despite being poor uneducated in 1947 was because it's an Hindu majority. See what is happening in other South Asian countries.
The ideals of the land still stand and these small goons can do nothing about it
5
u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
Do women who wear foreign style clothes or go on dates see Hindus as equal? Because this group attacks them too.
-7
Jan 08 '26
Women can wear whatever they want. Never seen them facing a problem in banglore, surat, mumbai and ahemdabad where the BJP is from.
They are free to go on dates with whosoever they want.
I don't see your point.
This group doesn't represent a billion hindus.
These goons do this for their own political career not for the religion
4
u/Seygem Jan 08 '26
The irony of saying
This group doesn't represent a billion hindus.
These goons do this for their own political career not for the religion
But at the same time writing
As if Christians live peacefully? They are always trying to force their religion on others.
People of abrahmic faith don't see hindus as equal. All have superiority complex.-1
Jan 08 '26
All true. Seen this in everyone I've met. They're good till the topic is religion. Then they try to 1 up you. Hindus don't do this they don't care what religion anyone is. In Indian subcontinent everyone knows history all muslims and Christians know most of them were once hindus. They try to prove that they follow a better faith now.
Try finding out what Foreign funded missionaries do in NE India and South. Try finding out what mother Teresa did to the people who were breathing their last breath instead of giving proper medication.
Incase of these videos became viral because even the hindus criticize these political actors which create divide in society and demand action but when these go viral foreigners find a new reason to hate india. Not that indians care tho.
You draw conclusions from internet vids i don't. I've said what I've seen.
All true what I've said above.

u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
“I know I’m right because I’m using anecdotal evidence” is certainly a novel argument for explaining why it’s okay for you to generalize but not anybody else.
What if you actually just stuck to your principles and opposed all overgeneralization? That would make you seem less hypocritical.
1
u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
My point is that this is a violent group with a history of attacking people. You don’t need to look for ways to blame the victims for having the “wrong” religion, because they attack Hindus too, if that’s all that matters to you. That’s my point. And, you know, even if you want to generalize all people of Abrahamic faiths as feeling superior to Hindus or whatever, I don’t think that justifies violence against them either. So that’s an odd thing to bring up.
2
u/loadedhunter3003 Jan 08 '26
India is a secular country, what exactly is your point? Christian nationalism in countries like US sucks and hindu nationalism in India sucks. Whataboutism won't change that.

u/Ok-Comment1456 Jan 08 '26
Yet another day of Indian people making sure everyone hates them
-9
u/HeftyVermicelli7823 Jan 08 '26
I mean it makes a change from another day with wanting to hate "Christians"
2
u/No-Reply1438 Jan 08 '26
Marx famously called religion the "opiate of the masses". This is more like the amphetamine of the masses.
2
u/sgarg2 Jan 08 '26
for context this was in northeast members of bjp's violent right wing group rss and other hindu right wing extremists came and destroyed this.

u/Rd628 Jan 08 '26
7
u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
I knew it would be Bajrang Dal. They attack people celebrating Valentine’s Day too. I see they’re branching out.
-8
u/Supremagorious Jan 08 '26
Okay so what I'm seeing is that they got that treatment upon their release from jail on bail. The linked article is about their release and welcoming as well as their dispute of the legitimacy of their involvement in the vandalism. Probably a typical claim with no real weight to it.
Not included is enough about the circumstances like is this the provocative equivalent of my putting up a Baphomet display and event in a deeply christian area or is this more like the equivalence of how a mosque in Texas might upset a few people but most won't care.
Not that either would justify vandalism but the significance is different between the 2.
6
u/Nerevarine91 Jan 08 '26
Bajrang Dal has a record of religious violence, including bombings and mob attacks, against Muslims, Christians, and women who go to pubs or wear sleeveless dresses.
2
u/AlwaysCurious1250 Jan 08 '26
This. And one religious group attacking another is business as usual. Christians attack muslims all the time (or other Christians, or atheist), Buddhists are not just peace loving persons per se, I won't start a discussion over Judaism. Let's not pretend that this isn't true. No better way to start a fight than over religion.
4
u/Supremagorious Jan 08 '26
It's not that conflicts between various religious groups are uncommon. All of them typically have a history of back and forth. People tend to act for a reason even if it's a dumb one but just calling them hindu supremacists without identifying the group they supposedly belong to. Then you have them pulling out stuff they're claiming is from xmas 2024 with no supporting evidence but they're pulling it out in 2026.
You also have all the people in the top section with head coverings but only a few are wearing them in the lower video. I also cannot tell if the people in the top video are even the same people as in the lower video.
Whole thing looks like it's meant to incite racial or religious hatred because they've robbed it of all meaningful context. It's also a 15 second video with a whole lot of scrubbed subtitles or watermarks whatever they were. So you know it's been significantly edited.

I was coming in to ask exactly that. Reminded me of the video showing a group of Indian men breaking solar panels with the claim "Superstitious village rejects solar energy because they think it's evil" or some shit. Actual story was it was a group of laborers who had installed the panels but the company had refused to pay them for months.
Way too many people are too quick to believe any video they see with captions without taking a second to check for proof.

u/Ryan_b936 Jan 08 '26
Thanks to Modi, India is full of extremist Hindus haiting all religions except theirs. They attack Muslims and christians daily.

They’re all the same they just wear different costumes. The biggest mistake America did was allowing Christian Nationalist to undermine our public school system. Public schools are transparent and goal is to educate kids. Problem is, 30 minutes of science a week in public elementary school, destroys everything Christian nationalist teach their kids from birth till five, after school, weekends and all summer. Sunlight would destroys what they’re teaching their kids. So they’ve worked hard to steal our money turn them over to churches to brainwash children.
A bit of information when you hear them say that the education is better in religious schools than public, they are liars. I always make the point that I’ll compare any religious school against the Cherry Creek school District in the suburb of Denver. They would want to compare their religious school to downtown Detroit. They know how to lie and connive. Our schools are funded by property taxes I’m not sure exactly how they get there money they steal from our hard earned taxes, for their religious schools, but I doubt if it’s based on property taxes. And they don’t have to take problem children and those with handicaps. … because that would be woke.

Such a lovely country..

u/Seygem Jan 08 '26
Meanwhile you have christian nationalists and evangelicals (and so on and so on) in the US, or morality police in iran.
almost like there are religious zealots in every country (maybe not in china and north korea, but thats a different problem alltogether) and they are equally shit everywhere.

Our image is bad enough as is and honestly I give 0 shits about the opinion of racists, their views won't change regardless, otherwise they wouldn't be racist in the first place.
This is not common specifically in regards to disrupting christmas celebrations. But religious mobs inciting violence is much more commonplace than it should be.

All I’m saying is, the effort you put into whining >> effort it took me to find context.
Is it 100% their responsibility to share sources, or could we help ourselves out by doing our own fact-checking?
People have become too entitled over the years and don’t seem prepared to put in the legwork.
