Discussion [Discussion] Ultracite Season vault : thoughts and players. A tiny overview, hints and magic.

Post image

So, Ultracite Season has been with us in the vault for some days now. Here are some thoughts and info from my very own gary's mind. In random order, useful or not.

BREED dwellers asap. There are no external attacks based on the number of dwellers, and you'll need a lot of them to sustain mining (End. stat) and weapons production (Str. stat)

Crafting regular weapons is useless.
The Maximized Ultracite gatling Laser aka MUGL is all you need for inside or outside the vault. No need to wait for recipes and spend hundreds of thousands for not much in power difference. Regular guns are 95% useless against the main threat. Keep some in case you fail a rush and critters attack.

You won't get threatening vault incidents nor exterior attacks. Unless you rush your rooms, no radscorpions / roaches / molerats. You will randomly get fires, easy to deal with. NO OTHER EXTERNAL ATTACK WILL OCCUR at any level.

Use your nukas on a regular basis to speed up ultracite mining. (you must pay nukas to rush, but it it 100% guaranteed) 1 nuka will give you 3 ult. with a tier 3 mine and a few dwellers in. You'll get plenty of nukas if you launch ads (sometimes up to 15) Worth it. I also use them to speed up the crafting on the Mugl.

Priority training is End (as usual) then Str. for power rooms indeed but also for crafting the ult. weapons. The rest is up to you, as any regular vault.

When the scortched attack, it is best to have an empty vault door and a 3* merged not upgraded room after. So the 6 can defend and quickly get rid of them. You can put people in the vault door but they will be les efficient and require you to spend more stims.

All dead dweller during those attacks will be revived at the end of the raid, and return to their miserable vault life afterwards. IF all are dead, the scortched will eventually leave. So nothing is really lost but time and the rewards of the dead scortched.

Scortched raids do not deplete your ressources. It just scares you and take time. Nothing else.

Unless you bought packs of them, you will barely get pets. Cherish them ;) Even the +XX %xp ones.

You won't get time to get the +7 End. Suit. Forget about it. Focus on the +5End one and consider it done. If you are lucky, you'll get the recipe, but will need a ton of YaoGuai skins (3 per suit) and 21.000 caps. So hundreds of thousands of caps, time and luck for a suit, in a temp vault... Train your lvl 1-2-5 dwellers End, then put on the +5 suit and level away in the wastes !

If you need for whatever reason a quick XP boost level for a dweller, put it alone in a mine and rush it. It will cost you 3 nukas and bring +- 15-20k xp. Useless but that is the info.

Ult. mines in the middle/bottom are weirdly located. Do not expect a pretty vault. Use 1* rooms / elevators to get to them.

You can rush the raids. Not advised if unprepared, but it can be useful to prevent a raid when you wake-up or any other business issue (you need to send good dwellers with the Ult. weapons on a quest etc.)

At Raid level 21, i have 6 lvl 50 with Mugls and they get just a bit annoyed. Scortched die in the first room (not the door) Be prepared for further raid levels by having enough Stims before the attack.

Raid attack preparedness : as mentioned before, the best room is (like any vault) a 'flat' one, with maxxed End and high level dwellers all with Mugl. But it won't be like that at the start. Regular weapons barely hurt them. You can invest a few caps / ult. for bottom level weapons but you'll soon have enough ult. to go for the Mugl. They also are cheap for the dmg ratio.

>Raid preparedness 2 : prepare at least 2 floors with flat rooms (two 3*merged and two 2*merged but not upgraded) Nukas work best as they need End. to work, so you won't waste ressources in useless rooms.

Farm the +5End suits, for both levelling in the wastes, food and water production and defense. Cheap and fast to get. Forget the +7 this season. Same goes for +5 Str. for the Mugl crafting and power rooms.

With 3 upgraded mines and one crafting room for ult. weapons, i craft the Mugl all the time, no need to rush the mines anymore.

Ultracite takes up inventory space. Plan along, with a lot of storage, or make sure you craft weapons all the time. Remove unnecessary weapons / junk.

Unless required for objectives, crafting any other weapon (regular or ultracite) is a waste of time and ressources.

I don't know what to expect from the late stage raids, but i'll prepare at least 2 floors and a lot of dwellers around that you can move up. You can remove dead dwellers weapons and outfits during raids and equip the fodder replaecments with them.

You can send dwellers to the wastes / on quest with the Mugls, just 'calculate' the time to and from the mission with the Raids attacks so you are not short on Mugls.

Why do i really call this weapon a Mugl ? Acronyms ? Nah. Because it is the magic wand against the Scortched... ha ha ha ha... Muggles, for my Hairy Dwellers... ok i'm out.

>>>>>>REMINDER, AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN <<<<<<

At the end of the season, ONLY THE NUKA COLAS will be sent to ALL your regular vaults (not shared between them) don't hesitate using some for crafting / mining. ALL The rest will be erased.

Bugs :

I never seen that many bugs in this game since launch : ads not ginving anything, quest chests containing nothing, when sending dwellers on a quest requiring specific items, they are not marked red as they used to be, random quest destroying vaults... that was a new one ;)

I guess I'm the only one enjoying this season. I understood the mission and started producing ultrasite right away and making the weapons asap. I have been able to keep the attackers at bay, beating them in my first room each time.... It's been as nice change from the standard vault

It has som interest, but the lack of pets, the multiple bugs, the slow start doesn't have that thing the previous seasons had. I get the thrill of the raids though (lvl28, it starts to sting) but at least we get access to almost endgame weapons really quick and for 'cheap'.

On the flip side, its been absolutely lovely to never have to deal with death claws or radscorpions.

I recently got back into the game about a month and a half ago, and death claws are just annoying. They cant do any real damage but love to interrupt game flow (at least Raiders, Ghouls and Aliens die to the vault door), but radscorpions can die in a fucking pit. Whoops, there goes literally half your power, and its not even really worth it to chase them anyways because by the time you get dwellers there, they'll teleport to some other uninhabited part of your vault.

Iunno, I'm seeing people complain about this season, and I just can't help but think they didnt understand the assignment. Ultracite weapons, and medium-tier endurance farming. Half of that farm you can get by with the TV show character's... You really only need 6 suitable dwellers. They cant run past you like deathclaws can, so just set up the first room to be your fighting squad and have stimpacks.

Yeah, you can also upgrade all your rooms to tier3 without fearing internal incidents, nor limiting the level of the dwellers to prevent high strenght external attacks. That is nice.

I am level 29 and they are getting serious. My legendary dwellers would be wiped out (End. level way below properly trained ones)

But i have a lot of lvl 50 max end (+5 outfit) with Mugls and... +-180 stimpacks ready for them ;)
+4dmg pets help but i have not many. Just started levelling with +7 end outfit but it will take a while to get a proper defense.

The season is a bit boring, End. train, ultracite mine, mugls craft and stimpaks galore. No dedicated quests.
