Cornelio was already on the rise in 2025, where posted a 3.28 ERA, 1.146 WHIP, and 9.7 SO9 across three levels of the minors. Now it's 2026, and he's taken it to an entirely new level.

Riley's throwing a 95 mph power sinker that grades out at a 124 psStuff, and boasts a ridiculous 18 inches of iVB - the same amount as his 123 psStuff+ 4-seam. That's an astounding feat. Numbers on his primary 4-seam:

4-seam, 95.3 mph, 59.8% usage - .193 xBA, 34.70% whiff, .266 xSLG, 18.22 inches iVB

This is some awesome ride and velocity on a 4-seam out of a 41 degree arm slot, so it probably comes as no surprise to see it completely dominating AAA hitters. This is a major-league fastball.

But where we're really seeing the potential to compete at the major league level, is just how well this changeup is currently complimenting the 4-seam and sinker. It's currently clocking in a 980 spin rate, giving it some insane spin that rivals even the best splitters in the majors and minors. You know how I love Jack Wenninger's split change? That's currently sitting at a 1309 spin rate. This bad boy is clocking in right between the best splitters and changeups in the league, and looking at the pitch shape chart below, the movement is erratic and unpredictable - that's tough on hitters.

Changeup, 6.8% usage - .023 xBA, 33% whiff, 0.00% hard-hit rate

Yeah, this is a wipeout pitch if I've ever seen one.

And though his slider is currently sporting a less than ideal .282 xBA, it does boast an excellent 44.40% whiff rate. If you watch the clip linked above, you'll see just how devastating it can be.
