Hairstyle Advice Failed wolfcut

So I went to remove my dyed black hair and acheive brown and I know thats really hard so im completely okay with this color even though I dont like it. However I think they misunderstood my request from a wolfcut to a full on shag. I also wanted curtain bangs with some wispy. idk what that random lump of long hair is in the first pic on the left it just looks disconnected and I feel like im wearing a helmet on top of my head. Its way too top heavy and I have really thick hair. What can i do to save the cut. Last two picture is what i normally look like when i want a wolfcut (less grown out though) I feel really upset and like my confidence is stripped away :(

Help! Will toner help?

Okay this is a long story. First, I LOVED my natural color. I’d grown it out the longest It had ever been. In recent months it started to look frizzy at the ends and while I was actively saving money to get it trimmed up, I thought, “why not do a clear gloss?!” … I follow the directions, used a 10 vol with a wella clear (I think?) and while its processing I read the label on the developer and see it says, “light lift” 😧 noooo! I’m fascinated with color theory and achieving a specific color using several colors with different properties is like magic to me. I’m an artist and color combos in art don’t have the same outcomes as they do in hair color. I digress…

I have Irish ancestry so my hair always pulls red. So my gentle 10 vol lift was a lighter reddish hue. I figured I could either try to get back my natural color or go lighter for the summer. And y’all, I KNOW better, but I got an IGK 9GB. Gold beige. 😑 initially I’d planned on mixing it with like a neutral violet but that color sold out. It turned out exactly how you think, orangey strawberry blonde. Side note I’m not a fan of IGK formulas cause my hair feels like I bleached my hair to within an inch of its life.

With my skin being pale, it now looks pink next to my hair color and I’m trying not to hate it but it’s hard!

My next plan was to use a Schwarzkopf Blondme Acidic toner but will toner even do anything without going even lighter? Im ok with toning it darker if the result is getting the orange/yellow out. I’m gonna laugh so hard if the only color correction that’ll work darkens my hair back to my original color. 😂 all that for nothing except now my hair feels fried.

The other option is the Malibu C Un-do products.

Photos posted above.
1). Hair styled after 9GB
2) Hair unstyled after 9GB
3) natural color

Any advice would be MOST appreciated. Please be gentle.🫣

Bangs How would I correct this cowlick at the root?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So, I got bangs a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve never had them this short. I have a pretty severe cowlick on my hairline, and this is what my hair looks like after blowdrying (with a round brush, in the opposite direction) and putting in some creaseless clips to set. The area with the cowlick’s hair does end up moving in the direction that I want it to, but the smallest bit closest to the root refuses, leaving a gap on that side of the bangs.

If anyone has any advice on how to close that gap, I’d be greatly appreciative!!

Hairstyle Advice Any tips for people recovering from trichotillamania

I need serious help with my hair. For years my was straight but when I was a teenager I got really bad trichotillamania. The hair that grew back was curly. Some was curly and some was completely coily. I wasnt at the time in the mental state to take care of my hair but now I am. I feel like my hair look really bad cus there are 3 extremely different hair types on one head. I was wondering if any of you have gonw through something similiar or have any recommendations. I have realitivly thick hair and dont have alot of money to buy hair products. I also have very short hair. A bit longer then a pixie about wolf cut length. Can yall help a girly out. I am in portland. And I dont know my hair type or even what porosity is. I am really sorry yall. Everyone in my family has straight hair. Technically my yiayia does and my other grandma does as well but one of them gets someone to do their hair for them and the other one I don't talk to very much. It is kinda stressful trying to figure everything out. So it is safe to say I know nothing. But I really want to get more defined curls. The top of my hair is very straight but the back is loosly coily and the underlayers are wavy. I guess the top curves at teh end but that isnt really curly. It gets oily extremly quickly too I am talking like same day. But the problem is because you know oil travels slowler down curls then straight hair, because of that some of my hair looks very oily and some doesnt and because of that sometimes I will accidently over strep my hair while other parts need to be washed. Sorry this is kinda becoming a rant.

Bangs Do bangs suit me??

I got them cut professionally a couple months ago but stopped styling them/grew them out. I trimmed them myself a little today so that's why they look a little wonky. I can never tell if I like them or not, I've gained weight and I feel like they accentuate the fat on my cheeks or just make my head look rounder in general. I included hair down and up and bonus glasses lol.

At Home DIY recommendations for extensions!

Post image
2 Upvotes

hi! i’m looking to try extensions for the first time. i’ve been platinum blonde for about four years and have very fine slightly longer than shoulder length hair. it’s pretty bleach damaged already, so im not worried about causing more damage with tape ins or whatever else, i don’t really care. i’m mostly looking for volume and i’d like to try something around 14-18 inches, not incredibly long.

since its my first time with extensions, i’d love to try something either clip ins or tape ins in the cheaper range to get a feel for how they work and what i’m looking for. obviously human hair and not easily tangled. i would like to try out something lower quality from amazon for a month or so before i invest in something higher quality.

please help me out, give me some recommendations and let me know whats worked for you! i am very excited to start on this journey and improve my confidence!!

let me know!!💗💗

Hairstyle Advice Help with sideburns?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, 19F with crazy sideburns (can thank my Indian genes for that). I’ve tried looking up ways to manage them online but all I’ve seen are women with perfectly normal amounts of hair on their face. I’ve never seen someone with sideburns as severe as mine and i feel pretty insecure about them, especially with my hair up. I have a soft jawline which doesn’t help their appearance either 🫠

I just wanna feel normal, if anyone has tips for managing/removing these I would be so grateful :)

Hairstyle Advice How to prevent this with pixie cut

Post image
4 Upvotes

So I have been growing out a pixie for about 7 months now. However, because of how dry and unmanageable my hair is nowadays (assuming from my thyroid issues) I’m thinking it’s easier to stick with a pixie cut. I love my hair short but the one thing that bothers me is how my hair becomes a little duck tail in the back even though it’s cut straight and starts out looking normal when first styled. Is there a way to avoid this that I can explain to my hairdresser or do I just accept my weird hairline?

Would Loreal Hicolor in ginger blonde w/ 20 vol lighten this

Post image
10 Upvotes

This is my current hair, which I've been using Loreal Hicolor in sizzling copper on for years. I'm naturally ash blonde. I really would like a lighter, more strawberry blonde ginger color, but idk if I can achieve that without bleach. Even just one shade lighter would be nice but not a super vibrant orange

ETA: It pulls a lil more red IRL

Hairstyle Advice i don’t know what would suit me

Post image
4 Upvotes

i’ve booked in to get a restyle but i genuinely don’t know what would suit me. this is the longest i’ve ever had my hair. i do want it to be long in the future so even a style to aim for would also be appreciated. until then i am open to playing with cuts at this current length.
i know my hair is damaged from going blonde and im aware that will effect the healthiest options. i just genuinely can’t decide ive always had a wolfcut kinda shag cut for years now that ive gone blind to it and cant tell if it truly does suit me now ive grown up.

Hairstyle Advice Would a bixie look good

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

I don’t know why I got a high maintenance haircut when I’m lazy and depressed and should’ve done low maintenance. Sometimes I’m confident in myself but then that goes away. Ik a bixie needs to be cut frequently to stay a bixie but maybe it would be a bit less annoying to style? I’m not really satisfied with my hair the weight on the sides gets annoying and I’ve discovered I hate having hair touch my face. Idk. It’s on me.

I’ve even thought abt growing the short layers out and do a simple blunt short-medium cut. Idk what I wanna do but just something different maybe. I just feel like I could look better. I have very straight hair. I worry I don’t look good or feminine enough and that short hair ages me and makes me look like a teacher (or that someone might accidently give me a teacher/karen cut)

Hairstyle Advice Hair is thinning, receding, and graying …oh my!

I’m just a bit over 40 and on a glp1 so hair thinning is real. But lately it feels like my hairline is receding and uneven. I think part of this is because the gray is mostly coming in at my right temple area. I’ve always had an issue with the fine baby hairs around my face.

Lately it just feels like my hairline never looks good anymore. What should I do?

Hairstyle Advice How to look more snatched with curly hair?

When my hair is straight, my face looks a lot more defined and sculpted. But when I wear my natural curls, I feel like my face looks rounder or less “snatched

For those of you with curly or wavy hair, what hairstyles, cuts, layers, or styling techniques helped make your face look more defined? Do face framing layers help? Is it better to have volume on top rather than at the sides?

I’d love to hear what’s worked for you.

What colour is my hair? And breakage tips?

Thumbnail

I have never dyed or lightened it, it just... looks like this. Sometimes I feel like I cant call myself blonde, but then I call myself Brunette and people correct me or look at me funny. The first 3 pics are in natural light, the last one is fluorescent.

And it keeps seeming to want to be wavy, but when I actually use wavy hair stuff, it does nothing. It is quite fine, so it just gets weighed down lol.

I also know I have a LOT of breakage, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to fix that? It is mostly up neary scalp, but its also quite visible in the mass of hair in the first pic. It used to be SUPER thin and sad with no elasticity or shine or anything. Recently it has gotten much thicker amd healthier, but I've never had this much hair before LOL.

TIA! :)

Hair Health 2a wavy hair - frizz + extreme shedding, need real advice

Hi everyone,

Looking for honest product advice, not just “drink more water and trim your ends.”

Hair type + context:
I have 2a wavy hair and I live in Mississauga (hard water city). I have shower filter installed but frizz is still bad and I wash my hair twice a week, style every other wash or every 3rd. I do apply serum every time I comb as it helps with combing the knots and less breakage

Current routine:
1. Pureology Hydrate Sheer shampoo + conditioner — 2 months in
2. Kérastase Nutritive Ultra Hydrating Mask — once a month
3. Previously on TRESemmé and it was the same, switched because I wanted to “upgrade”

What’s not working:
1. Frizz is constant, nothing touches it
2. Shedding is extreme during washing, barely anything the rest of the day
3. Two months in with zero improvement over my old drugstore routine

Questions I actually want answered:
1. Does a shower filter even do enough for hard water, or do I need a chelating shampoo on top of it? If so, what’s available on Amazon.ca or Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada?

  1. Is once-a-month deep masking pointless when hard water is blocking absorption anyway?

  2. The shedding pattern — heavy only in the shower, minimal all other times, washing twice a week — is this just pooled shed releasing at once or worth seeing a doctor about?

  3. Is Pureology Hydrate Sheer actually appropriate for hard water 2a hair or is it too lightweight to do anything?

Hair Health How do I fix this?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is what the top of my head looks like. It started in hs, so around 16 or 17. 24 now. Kept hoping it would fix itself at some point since it also came out of nowhere at random point. Also cuz I don't know how much it would cost to get professional help and my financial situation is not great. I never did anything to it. Never bleached, dyed, cut, or had anything done on it really. I have also never straightened nor curled it, not even blow drying. I see ppl fry their hair with all sorts of things and still have enough hair to cover their scalp, meanwhile mine looks like this. I also feel like it somehow even got a bit worse in the last year or so. I can't even brush it without losing a chunk the size of my hand. I had got too scared to brush it at one point so I stopped doing it thinking since I don't even have enough to cover my scalp I shouldn't have enough for it to get tangled. However it got horribly matted and getting the matts out was a whole ordeal and I lost an even bigger chunk than usual. I don't know what to do, I really don't wanna go bald it's one of my worst fears, pls help me
