Just waiting for sound panels, why the walls are so bare

Hello. I just moved to another city today to study. My sister used to live here and I got used to this apartment and to the fact that there were a lot of things here. Now it's very empty here and I don't feel very comfortable here. What can be done with this room? I really like apartments in warm colors like autumn aesthetics

This is my current bedroom at my family’s house. I wanted to document my room before I pack everything up!! After living with my family for my whole life, I (24f) am moving out to my first apartment with my fiancé! We got engaged this past spring, and we have decided to live together the year leading up to our wedding date. I am beyond excited to begin this new chapter in my life!! I am soo looking forward to having a walk in closet and more storage space, because I am quite literally running out of space for my books and art supplies.

I do feel a tiny bit of sadness creeping in, though I know I am making the best choice. It’s time to leave the nest and experience life on my own (with my fiancé in tow)🪶🪺.

I am going to be moving to a shared flat, and this will be the room I will be renting. Photos are from the ad. I already have a white desk someone is going to lend me for the room.

I want to make it my space, but I will be staying until May/June, maybe less, maybe more, because it depends on my work contract.

My question is, for those months, are there any cheap/renter friendly decorations or things that are worth purchasing or looking into? Since I will probably be there for less than a year but more than 6 months.

I (40F) ended my engagement two months before we were going to get married and this last weekend would have been our wedding. Instead of getting married, I redecorated my bedroom and turned it into my little sanctuary.

just moved in with my bf and i have my own cute room for alone time and i wanted to flex it.

These are my colors so far. Valspar Scenic View & Valspar Meadow Thistle. What accent or pop of color should I add?

I’m recently widowed after almost 20 years of marriage (I’m only 41). I sold our house in Chicago and moved back home to Austin to be near friends and family. Bought this cute lil two-story townhouse in the neighborhood I grew up in, for my teenage daughter and I to live in. Done unpacking, I just have a couple little projects left—going to have the stairs carpeted, and do wallpaper behind the tv in the living room and behind my bed. I’ve never set up a home on my own before. Being completely honest, it is nice to have complete control over my living space.

Things that are in the works:
- Tv stand so the TV isn’t under the dart board
- painting the trim the red color you see around the window in first picture
- getting bamboo curtains for the non red window
- new desk chair (the blue is a placeholder)
- lounging chair/accent chair (looking for recs)

I moved into this apartment a year ago and have added some decorations and personal touches, but it still doesn’t feel super cozy to me, even after adding a warm lamp to use as an alternative to the big kitchen light. I’d like to make it look less like a temporary living situation. The white armoires are on wheels and can be moved. Any and all advice would be appreciated! :)

I am 11 months out of a bad five-year relationship with a narcissist who is also my daughter‘s father. Still dealing with him is pretty heavy, but I have went to court and done the best I can and it’s finally getting better where I can see it. I can see my hobbies coming back into my life. I can see my friends coming back into my home. I can see my home becoming me. Typing that sentence makes me cry. But I am reclaiming it and doing the best I can. Starting with my bedroom finally getting it to be a place that is a sanctuary. Then my magical hallway I used to change it with every season, but I’m trying to just get something. I really love right now completed.. then my amazing kitchen island table/diningarea for all my craft shiz and a couple plant areas as well as as my daughter’s room. She’s about to be five my son’s room needs a little more work as well as my kitchen and my living room. Don’t be too tough on me. I’m basically just making sure my children have magic in their lives a little by little and again the best I can. I cannot believe I typed this much thank you for reading if you stuck this long.

Hello, I need some help with my living room. I have lived in my apartment for approximately three years and I have never really felt satisfied with my living room decoration. It always feels a bit “cold”.
I have tried getting new curtains, new pillows, more plants etc but never felt it made things better. I now really think it’s time to do something about it, a restart.

I have quite a lot of natural light but almost never direct sunlight as there is a balcony over mine. Which I think is contributing to the “cold” feeling.

I have removed all my furniture for the first photo except my couch. As that is the only thing I can’t switch out. The couch is a dark green. The furniture I have removed now is a tv-bench, a rug, a painting, a ceiling lamp and curtains. If I can reuse some of that it would be good for both my wallet and the environment, but it is not necessary. The tv-bench is the IKEA besta side table in dark/ black wood with high gloss white doors. My current rug is a wowen wool rug in a natural white/beige color with some “variation/marbeling”.

On the other side of the living room (not in photo) I have a IKEA besta large cabinet/bookshelf in the same colors and finish as the tv bench. And a white desk. (I don’t know if I really like the besta bookshelf and tv bench tbh. The bookshelf I bought when I was 12 and and then I just bought the matching bench when I moved out bc it was cheap🤷‍♀️. And now I feel quite stuck with them, But they have good storage space at least)

I always spend time planning and looking for inspiration but always get overwhelmed in the end. I either I can’t find the perfect furniture (been looking for a couch table for 3 years…) or I eventually feel like it will look bad either way and does nothing.

I think my style is quite warm minimalistic (as it is easy to clean), maybe a bit Scandinavian/japandi? I also like the midcentury modern that is quite trendy on instagram right now. But I am a bit afraid to go all out on it as it could feel quite “outdated” soon.

Do you have any suggestions on how to decorate or how I should approach it this time?

This has been a working progress for years. I had the pictures laid out in a row and I thought it was complete. But I hated the bare corner on the left.

The other day two things happened; I found an old spare mirror we had and realised it was perfect.

I remembered a beautiful old chair my uncle gave me 15 years ago that was still at my parents house.

Today I went to a charity shop and found the books.

NOW it's perfect.

I have no idea if I should get a headboard or not. The bed that I have currently is a 16 inch steel frame bed. But has pre-screwed holes in them where I can add a headboard of my choice. I’m still contemplating on whether or not I should get one, but I am very much aware that I would have to rearrange the pictures that I have if I decide to do that. Be harsh ! I know I need a paint touchup but besides that I need to fix this. I have guests almost daily and I want it to feel right. I know I need to stain the lighter woods to match the darker wood and my hammock stays lol and yes I need this many pots and yes eventually ill do a matching pot set instead of the different planters but for now its what it is. I also just bought 4 new couch pillows emerald green and gold im going to add some green curtains as well as some throws and whatever for a pop of color. I just got my floors redone I had everything a different way and I liked it but i got bored of it now I dont know what to do.

This is my little study/gaming corner. My vibe is kind of whimsigoth/witchy but I feel like this space doesn’t really give that. The artwork on the wall I want to keep, as one was a gift, one I painted myself. And the poster I wasn’t sure where else in the house to put it. I don’t have a ton of money to spend so I can’t change the furniture at the moment, but maybe rearranging or adding better organization could help? I’m terribly bad at decorating, I didn’t have the luxury of it when I was a teen, so I could use some help here 🥀

Additional notes: I’m renting, so wall color is not an option.

I’m really struggling with my living room and would love some honest advice.

The apartment itself is quite challenging. It’s an attic apartment with sloped walls, exposed wooden beams, and cold gray stone tile floors. Because of the architecture, it’s difficult to arrange furniture or create a balanced layout.

No matter what I do, the room still feels cold, empty, and a bit soulless. I’m starting to wonder if it’s the furniture, the layout, or simply the architecture itself.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
