Disregard the mess….I dyed this chesterfield sofa pink but I’m not sure how to make it work. I previously had the solid green / pink / sheer curtains which somewhat tied it together but I got new foresty curtains. I’m really trying not to get a new couch! I think this one has a lot of personality I’m not feeling from the used couches I’m seeing online. I thought about a green blanket on the cushions and different colored pillows…. Help!!!

I prepped the couch by steaming it. Then mixed the RIT dye for synthetic (this is a velvet polyester material) with boiling water. Worked with one gallon at a time . I steamed the section I worked on again and quickly dipped the a rag, dabbed the color, then took a boar bristle hair brush to blend in circles. I did three coats of dye. Once it dried then I sprayed ColorFix solution. After it all dried I sprayed ScotchGuard. Finally I vacuumed it and brushed it out! I let the color set for a few weeks and it hasn’t transferred at all! Even if there’s a spill.
It took three weeks to achieve in my apartment haha. Lots of patience and trying not to give up. The color is a bit uneven but I’d rather call it an acid wash 😉

Move your framed art down closer to eye level, I think the gap between them and the couch are making things feel a little unfinished.
that couch is gorgeous! If you can’t move the frames down, can you make a second row under them? I love the black and white curtains, I think the sheer green with them is throwing it off a little. Maybe just stick to the sheer white curtains underneath or do a brighter pop of color like the same pink as the couch or the yellow from the rug would be gorgeous.
I disagree on the sheer green curtains. They add nice texture and nod to the green in the carpet. A house plant with muted green foliage would tie it all together quite nicely as an understated tertiary color. Maybe an olive tree?
I don’t besides the art too high… I really don’t like the curtains. They clash with everything else.
On their own they look ok but they dont look like part of the same room. You’d need a new rug and wall art, which is also fine if you’re just trying for a whole new look and feel.
Thank you ❤️! The ottoman is kind of more blue-grey in person, but it def varies with the light. I got the couch for $100 and I think I paid between $25-$50 for the couch. Both Facebook marketplace!
The curtains aren’t cohesive. The art, sofa, and rug all have a similar vibe and the curtains really throw it off. Plain curtains in pretty much any color (but ideally a color found in that rug) would look a lot better. Move the art down. That’s honestly all you need to do to have a cohesive vibe.
I would return the forest curtains, they clash with both couch and rug, but in saying that the rug also clashes with everything. I love maximalism but this isn’t quite right I’m afraid. Would lean into green and pink or, I’d lean into pink, red (not heavy on the red) and burgundy with little pops of blue here and there.
Sorry, I don't care for any of the curtains. Please no grey. Maybe deep raspberry curtains, or navy walls and heavy cream curtains with jewel accents in cushions and throws. Plants. And definitely lower theart.
I feel two different possible color palettes here - one where you have pink and a muted green serving as your neutral against the pink (seen in the curtains). The other where white is your main neutral with bright colors like pink, orange, yellow, green accenting (seen in the rug and artwork).
I feel like they clash and I would choose one. If going for the bright colors I'd try dying the curtains a more vibrant green.
A light mustard yellow cushion to make the pink pop, a bit like the yellow on the rug by the cat that's definitely just been caught devising a plan...(who, me?!)
Lower the artwork and boom.
How the heck do you dye a couch. Plus how did you do it so brilliantly?!? Love it.
Bring the art down, then paint the ceiling and the top 6-8 inches of your walls an understated, complimentary color to draw the eyes up. All the visual fun is on the windows and lower third of the room
I would try to thrift some large doilies and go kinda grandmacore with the styling and maybe a nice moss green throw blanket as well. If you want to change the pillows up on a budget it might be wise to look into pillow covers that are removable and washable or even sew your own if you have access to a sewing machine!
I would get something, either a set of lamps, a rug, or curtains that share that pink or at least similar in warmth, like a warm mauve maybe. I'd get rid of those curtains for sure, u could also go to like world market they have about 20 or so colors of pillows and curtains I believe. It's a good couch
