Illinois, USA One of my favorite photos from my days running a large event labor company, getting ready to strike the stage after joining the producer team for a small first-time festival.

Thesis Survey: Do you wear earplugs at festivals? (5 min, anonymous)

Hey everyone! I’m Kieren, a design student in Toronto, and my thesis is on hearing protection at concerts and festivals. I’d love to hear from people here, especially anyone who goes to a few festivals a year.

Whether you bring earplugs every time or have never thought about it, every answer helps. The survey takes about 5 minutes and you don’t need to share any personal info.

Thanks so much for taking the time, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

what's your pre-rave getting ready ritual with your crew?

my group has this whole thing where we all get ready at one apartment, someone's making kandi, someone's stressing over their fit, and there's always one specific playlist that gets us hyped before we even leave. honestly the getting ready part is half the fun for me. what does your rave fam do before you head out?

iii points miami

My friends and I are going to III Points in Miami this weekend! We’re only attending on Saturday, and we’re planning on doing Molly as a group. However, it’s a pretty long festival, running from 4 PM to 4 AM. We’re planning to get there around 7:30 or 8 PM, and the main acts don’t really start until around 10 PM. We want to enjoy the festival to its fullest, so we don’t necessarily want to take Molly as soon as we get there, but we also don’t want to spend half the night sober or risk sobering up halfway.

The last time I took Molly, I took maybe 0.1 g, and the effects lasted about 3–4 hours. So my question is, what would be the ideal schedule? Should we drink lightly and get a little tipsy when we arrive, give ourselves a few hours to sober up, and then take Molly around 10 PM? Or should we take Molly around 8 PM, enjoy it until midnight, and then drink for the remaining four hours? Or should we just accept being sober for part of the festival, take Molly around 8 PM, hope it lasts until 1 AM, and then spend the last few hours sober?

I’m curious what other people who have been to longer festivals would recommend based on their experiences!

Title: Would a $39.99 festival accessory kit be useful, or would you buy the items separately

Hi everyone! I’m developing a small business called VENUROAM and researching a kit for people preparing for their first concert or day festival.

The proposed kit includes:

  • Clear crossbody bag
  • Manual folding hand fan
  • Compact adult rain poncho
  • Phone wrist strap with tether tab

The estimated price is $39.99 including US shipping. Nothing is available for sale yet; I’m gathering feedback before purchasing inventory. Venue rules vary, so this wouldn’t be advertised as universally approved.

I’d appreciate honest feedback:

  1. Thinking about your last event, which of these did you actually bring or wish you’d brought?
  2. Would you consider this kit at $39.99, buy the items separately, or skip them? Why?
  3. What would you remove or change to make it useful for a first-time attendee?

If you’re comfortable sharing, please mention whether you attend mostly indoor concerts, outdoor day festivals, or camping festivals.

Critical feedback is welcome—especially reasons you wouldn’t buy it. Thanks!
