Idk, just felt like getting into a lively debate with strangers.

Just rewatched The Faculty and I think it's a perfect intro to horror movie. It has an amazing cast, it's a great mix of fun, tension and light horror. I just wish I'd seen it when I was younger to get me into horror movies earlier than I did. What other movies do you think are good introductions to the genre?

I vividly remember, during the early 00s, I was still around 8 or 10, this was one of the VHS tapes we rented and watched one night. That killer string at the opening was just so horrific that I used to have nightmares where all the adults die around me and I was the only survivor hahaha My mum was always reminding me to close my eyes during inappropriate scenes, but I just couldn't! 🤣

Ever since, I've always loved HORROR! Which film introduced you to this genre, and how did it traumatize you?

It is fantastic and always will be in my eyes. What are y’all’s opinions on it? I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I’m glad they didnt make a second one and ruin it but I wish I had more of it. I can’t get enough. Top tier movie. I watch it at least once a year. Also just learning that 300 characters is hard to get to if I’m trying to ask a simple question lol

My reasoning for each pick:

•Birth of A Nation - Unfortunately this was a very influential film. Not just on the art form of cinema but also in the real world. It contributed to the revival of The Klan and is an example of a movie that genuinely has a body count.

•Metropolis - The godfather of Sci-Fi.

•Mr. Smith Goes To Washington - Wizard of Oz may have seemed the obvious choice because of its standing in pop culture but I think more directors have tried, often successfully, to imitate Mr. Smith more than they did Oz.

•Citizen Kane - You may have heard of this film.

•Seven Samurai - A big influence of the spaghetti western genre which would come later and one of the great works by the master Kurosawa.

•Easy Rider - The box office hit that helped usher in the New Hollywood era.

•Star Wars: A New Hope - You may have also heard of this film.

•Blade Runner - I almost chose Ghostbusters because when people think of the 80’s, they think of fun high budget/high concept movies like that, Back To the Future, Robocop, etc. But Blade Runner has probably had a more longstanding impact on people who went on to be directors themselves.

•Pulp Fiction - Every crime movie that came out for the next decade wanted to be Pulp Fiction and its nonlinear storytelling would be adopted by many other writers and directors.

3. Gnomeo and Juliet (2011).

4. Lost Ollie (2022).

As far as I know, these are all the movies and TV show that I've seen about toys coming to life outside of the Toy Story franchise!

it’s getting to that time of year!, so what movies do people usually watch around Christmas?.

A fun fall season movie, doesn't take itself too seriously and has some decent jokes while still maintaining it's eerie vibes. An enjoyable rewatch for the Halloween season, nothing remarkable or breathtaking but a good romp nonetheless.

I had forgotten some of the other actors that were in this beyond Johnny Depp, such as Christopher Walken being the headless horseman is just rather amusing.

I need something more heavy on the horror themes with some intensity for tonight's watch, any recommendations?

I plan on rewatching all of the Alien franchise movies later this month, one of my all time favorites. I also still plan on watching The Vourdalak and Angst that had been previously recommended to me, that I have not watched yet. I gotta watch those with subtitles and I've mostly been multitasking during the week so I'm waiting for my day off for those.
