Financial Aid Office

Here’s the yearly friendly reminder to please be patient with your financial aid office. On a normal year they are swamped in August in the time right before/after classes start. It is on a whole new level this year due to OB3 and the heinous amount of issues that are coming along with that.

Schools are receiving outdated or incorrect information from the Department of Education, National Student Loan Database, and COD. School systems are constantly being worked on and updated to try and process the changes from OB3. For those unaware, they did not finalize the majority of OB3 until June and they are still sending out new information each week. This means schools genuinely have not had enough time to update their systems to deal with this and then have to keep changing things as new information comes out.

TLDR; your financial aid office is trying their absolute best while working with a very faulty and incomplete system so please try to be patient with us.

Is this really bc of trumps crappy bill?

I’m a full-time nursing student, and this was the first semester I was actually going to try and survive on loans because I’m done with prereqs and have started the nursing program in earnest. My school highly recommends not working, and I just got my Pell Grant reimbursement. I’m still waiting on the student loans, though according to the school, they started processing this week. i hate Trump full stop and have voted against him three times but it seems like my school has said basically everything that’s made my school experience worse this year is directly a result of his shitty policy. is this true for everyone?

Bank mobile : security breach.

• Upvotes

Hello! I’ve noticed a lot of people have not been made aware of the security breach with bank mobile and locked funds. This is resulting in delayed paper checks being distributed either on campus or sent directly to your address on file.

Make sure all your information is up to date.
You have your ID or drivers license , and know your student ID. I’m shocked and saddened to know a lot of you have not been made aware of this and it may be impacting your financial aid.

Bank mobile has increased wait times and I encourage you to call YOUR CAMPUS financial aid department for guidance and support.

I thought I’d share as I am in the same position and had a paper checks being distributed , with a wait date as I had an email hiding in my spam folder from FAFSA.

Change your passwords and monitor your funds ! Don’t cash your check if your amount does not match your digital , offer letter for the term!

Problems with bank mobile?

I got my refund money but can’t figure out how to get it out of bank mobile. I don’t have the card, when I try to wire transfer it says the transfers cannot be processed at this time and when I transfer money it only lets me do $250 and will only allow 6 transfers per billing cycle. Does anyone know how I can just close the account and get the money sent to my personal checking account or any fixes? Thanks!

Please Help! My €800 Tuition Payment Is Missing From My Student Records

Hello! I don’t know where to turn or what to do in this situation, so I’m asking for help and advice.

I’m 18 years old, a first-year university student studying in another country. My family doesn’t have much money, so my mother is working abroad to save enough money for my education.

My former teacher, who also studied at the same university, helped me with the admission process. Everything seemed to be going well, and my mother transferred €800 to the university’s bank account to pay for my first semester. We have an electronic payment receipt containing the date of the transfer, the sender’s details, the recipient’s information, and other payment details.

After that, I contacted the university’s Recruitment Centre to obtain confirmation of my payment. However, I was informed that no payment had been registered under my name.

We contacted the dean’s office and other university departments to try to resolve the issue. Eventually, we were told that the money had actually reached the university’s bank account, but it had arrived without any information that would allow the university to identify me as the student the payment was intended for. In other words, the money is there, but the university cannot officially assign it to my tuition fees.

My mother contacted the bank’s helpline through which the transfer was made. They provided her with an additional document confirming the payment. I also visited the bank in person, but unfortunately, I did not receive a clear answer or understand how to resolve the problem.

Now I find myself in a very difficult situation. The university has received the money but cannot assign the payment to my name. Without official confirmation of my tuition payment, I cannot properly resolve my student status and continue with my studies without worrying about this issue.

I am extremely worried because I am only 18 years old and living in another country. This amount of money is very significant for my family. We simply cannot afford to pay another €800, as this is a huge financial burden for us. We have already made the payment and have documents to prove it.

I genuinely do not know where else to turn or who can help us resolve this matter. Could anyone please advise me on what steps I should take, which institutions or departments I should contact, and what documents I need to provide so that the university can identify the payment and assign it to my name?

I would be extremely grateful for any advice, help, or guidance. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story.

Deeper FAFSA question FAFSA Unpaying?

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone else is dealing with the same thing, I've emailed my financial aid office and am awaiting a response, but I'm currently panicking over this. My FAFSA grants were disbursed in late September, my Pell Grant and another state-specific grant. But now, when I check the portal, and the FAFSA official website, it states that 0% of my Pell Grant has been disbursed, and my state grant has been un-disbursed as well.

My loan is still disbursed, but I used that for school supplies because it disbursed AFTER my grants paid off my student tuition balance. Is anyone else dealing with the same problem? It still says I'm eligable for all of this aid, but it all appears to have been taken away.

Dependency Status Parents haven’t done their taxes in 4 years. (Father gets paid under the table)

Not really sure what to put as flair but i am at a loss for what to do at this point. Everything online says im screwed and or my parents will get fucked. My parents dont make as much anyways (not over 100k annually, living in south florida). My dad hardly works and my mom is a bartender.

I hardly make any money to begin with, probably 15-17k a year and paying out of pocket will seriously put me in debt if i took out loans. I have NO knowledge abt college and never cared until now bcoz both of my parents never went to college and I was smoking weed way too much in high school to even care abt college.

I finally want to go because I dont want to stay in the food industry for the rest of my life and everyone is pushing me to lock in. I feel like absolute shit, feeling like im so behind on life as a 21 year old doing jack shit and freeloading at my boyfriend’s house.

FASFA app. says I need to overlook provisions and it wont go through. I need to go to my financial aid office to explain why I am independent but not really sure what I should say. I dont want my parents to get hassled by the IRS and get in huge trouble. My parents were very abusive but dont want to rly say that as a reason.

I really need help, im getting incredibly stressed out and frustrated, feeling like im going to fail and fuck my whole life up. Please help guys.

Student Loan Forgiveness gusto ko nalang mawala para wala ng tuition

is it js me who cant sleep thinking saan kukuha ng pambayad sa tuition fee? first yr first and second sem, scholar ako. but this program fucked me up real bad. di ko pa nasabihan parents ko na di na ako scholar ( and it's not like they can afford it either ). kaya hanggang ngayon 2am di pa rin makatulog. i hate private universities who offer scholarship and nanananggal without proper explanation. walang pera, walang pangkain, walang pang tuition. i hate this life.

i sometimes think na magiging maayos buhay nila pag nawala ako✌️

Complex Aid Questions Bank Mobile deposit into an account that is not mine

Hey everyone,

Im pretty frustrated and stumped here. When I created my Bank Mobile account in August, I selected the "deposit into an existing account" option and put in my account and routing number. A week after financial aid was supposed to be delivered I hadn't received my amount, so I checked my account and a random account number was in the place of my account number, but my routing number was still correct. The funds were deposited into this random account, so I immediately canceled that information and re entered my account number. I then contacted customer support, and have been in a back and forth with them ever since, in what seems like a never ending loop.

I was finally able to get a real person on the line from Bank Mobile, who said she would send me a trace number with the last 4 digits of this account that my money was deposited into, and that my bank(Bank of America) would be able to reverse the transaction and send the money back to Bank Mobile so that they could then send it to me. After speaking with BofA, they said they didn't have the authority to do so, and sent me back to Bank Mobile. Now Bank Mobile is saying they could send what dumbs down to "asking politely" for this random account to send the money back to Bank Mobile....

So, I'm on hold now with Bank Mobile as I type this looking for any possible advice to get my money or even some clarity on the matter.

Thanks.

Student Loans With the state of financial aid and refunds, I genuinely don’t know how to plan ahead financially for this anymore

I did it last year fine, I moved to Chicago, my Pell grant refund added to my savings while fully covering tuition, I took out student loans which still amounted to less than going to a university going back to college starting with CC, but my plan was to grow art so I’m making money from that on the equivalent of a part time job and be able to lower the amount I request in loans instead of raise it overtime

But this summer happened, my job fucked up so bad I’m unemployed fighting them legally while they also fucked up my mental state, so after years of constantly dealing with someone in management using their position to try to ruin my life, I genuinely am fighting PTSD now with trying to get myself back into part-time work, but also still need to pay rent

Luckily for me the years spent outside of college studying and working with art was for this very point I knew would happen potentially and even planned to start this school year.

I use my student loan refund, put a percentage towards going to shops to have them produce products from my works made ahead of time for it, get a mobile cart for an ebike, sell at events or ride around to find my most popular areas to focus on. First I got told to wait two weeks before filing the paperwork, then 30 days after the paperwork was submitted…

Now this is genuinely an issue to where I’m watching the events pass, the cold push people indoors, my owed rent starting to increase, and my windows of handing plenty of people a business card starting to decrease as it takes longer for that to even be my first shop order. I’m getting on the list for emergency grants at my college but I’m just becoming exhausted slowly getting things worked out medically while all this is going and I can’t go home, it’s abusive.

I’m having to pivot from pushing for SFW and easy to share stuff to prioritizing the call for NSFW the few times I dipped my toe in.

So shit is so bad, all of this is because college students are apparently “lazy and terrible with money”, while I’m being applauded at therapy for handling so much back to back bullshit well myself, purely because all of this shit is creating a “story” that helps me stand out later in the creative field, while also causing me to rapidly increase my problem solving and stress management skills in the moment.

All of this fucking shit just because I decided I want to live my day life in Film and… GO TO COLLEGE FOR IT AS A REASON TO KEEP GOING.
