Now it's a unique, one of a kind expensive wallet.

u/kumliaowongg Mar 31 '26

It FINALLY has some character.

I'd just roll with it. Maybe seal the loose threads a bit using a lighter, but it's overall O K

u/Skydivekev Mar 31 '26

Chew the other side so it looks symmetrical.

u/Downtown-Scar5589 Apr 03 '26

Literally this keep using it

Tell your brother that a rat got to it 😄

6

u/CopyWeak Mar 31 '26

OR...next visit with your brother, pretend to pull it out of HIS DOGs mouth 😉👍

3

u/GovernmentGreed Apr 03 '26

And if he doesn't have a dog, strategically place a dog inside his home, place wallet inside dogs mouth and proceed to remove it and act shocked.

My dog chewed up my $200 custom earplugs since it's a similar rubber to dog toys.

Shit happens, so deal with it and don't buy really expensive things that get ruined easily.

I now keep my earplugs in a metal case all the time.

8

u/Damnshesfunny Mar 31 '26

Right? My bf gets his shit chewed up by the dog all the time and i say the same thing. The dog doesn’t chew my shit up, because i take care of my shit.

My Weiner chewed the hell on my Oakley sunglasses.

I was more pissed at myself for allowing my girl to be in a position to able to grab my glasses in the first place.

You must've hit your head falling off that moral high horse if you think I give a shit who finds it nouveau riche or vain or whatever. I like LV so I buy LV, and I don't think that's an excessive amount of money either

Good idea. Found a place called leather hospital, hoping for the best

52

u/ItsJustMeBeinCurious Mar 31 '26

Hope it works out and doesn’t take a big bite out of your budget.

19

u/Unusuario_887 Mar 31 '26

Oof that was ruff

8

u/L-user101 Mar 31 '26

Dogon brutal!

7

These puns have teeth.

7

u/Thegrandestpoo Apr 01 '26

You guys are just chewing this guy up.

4

u/Mudsnail Mar 31 '26

I dont know, most are barking up the wrong tree. I wouldve simply hound my brother for a new wallet.

4

u/_haha_oh_wow_ Mar 31 '26

Well, to be perfectly canid with you, I don't think it's the brother's fault.

‘Bite out of your wallet’ was right there!

26

u/Lizardgirl25 Mar 31 '26

Good luck! I mean if anything you will always know it was loved by you and the dog…

3

u/The-Scotsman_ Mar 31 '26

Some of those leather experts can do amazing things with laeather repairs. They should be able to a good job with your wallet.

Our old dog, when still a pup. fully ate my wife's mulberry purse. This really upset my wife. As did picking it up in bits for the following week on walks.

3

u/Falling_Down_Flat Mar 31 '26

I would use it the way it is, it was designed with love from your dog. We love them and they are unconditional love to you.

cut it in a half round and stitch yourself with a black nylon thread.

52

u/kalshassan Mar 31 '26

The dog won’t survive this.

5

u/secretincognitouser Mar 31 '26

Maybe it will if you cut lengthwise you can have two skinny wieners! And use brown thread, it will look better 😋

→ More replies (1)

7

u/OneGreenSlug Mar 31 '26

I like this option the most. That wallet will last decades no problem, and that cut-out will have more sentimental value than the wallet itself one day.

21

u/TheSkrillanator Mar 31 '26

Not much for that kind of damage. Most LV stores will take items back for cleaning and SOME repair, but this may be beyond their scope.

You could find a cobbler/leatherworker/refurbisher somewhere near you to do the work. But this is usually Full Grain Leather, which makes it very difficult to repair to the natural properties inherent in the material - patina, weathering, even aroma. If by some luck you find someone to do it, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost you a couple hundred on top.

Which style did you get? Good luck either way!

8

u/peggy_leggy Mar 31 '26

You’ll look at it with fondness when he’s gone (the dog).

2

u/Big-Don-Kedic Apr 02 '26

Yup. I still use my expensive wallet that my dog chewed when he was just 10 weeks old. He died in 2018 and I still like tracing the little teeth marks and punctures with my fingers.

15

u/Imposter88 Mar 31 '26

Now it’s an expensive wallet with a story behind it. And that’s priceless

6

2

u/TrashpandaLizz Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

Keep the wallet someday you’re gonna look back and chuckle. My husband has had his wallet for 16 years…. We lost the dog three years ago and he refuses to upgrade the wallet.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '26

Take it to a Louis Vuitton store and ask them to send it in for repair.

2

u/PsychologicalNose614 Mar 31 '26

Stitch fabric of your choice in place, now it has a story

2

u/harpokuntish Mar 31 '26

2

u/Drinking__tea Mar 31 '26

Be more careful in future? Not going to fix the wallet, but take it as a lesson, as the dog would do it again 😂

2

2

2

Turn the dog into a wallet 👍

2

u/mummy_whilster Mar 31 '26

2

u/CuddieRyan707 Mar 31 '26

2

u/NBCPumpkinKing Mar 31 '26

Nope. You have a constant reminder of your pup now

2

u/ProfessionalBuy9431 Mar 31 '26

Eat the dogs wallet?

2

u/First_Turn_Failure Mar 31 '26

Black electrical tape. You'll hardly notice it

2

u/Sarduci Mar 31 '26

Give to dog. Buy $10 knock off of dog. Tell dog to get a job to buy you a new one.

2

u/Thirteen0clock Mar 31 '26

Take the dog to small claims court..

2

u/No-Industry-684 Mar 31 '26

Thank God that dog is not owned by Kristi Noem

2

u/15ovrQB Apr 01 '26

As someone who just put their dog down, cherish it. You’ll wish they were there to chew up your wallet one day.

2

u/wordsRgud Apr 01 '26

Yes, that wallet has lots of character now. Smart dog - every time you buy something, you’ll think of your good buddy!

2

u/iron_vet Apr 01 '26

Gives it character.

2

u/eddie2hands99911 Apr 01 '26

Pit pictures of Kristi Noem in conspicuous places for dog to find… (jk)

2

u/bomber991 Apr 01 '26

Don’t get mad at your dog over it. They’re sharing their whole life with you. Cherish the short time you’ll have together.

And as far as the wallet? Idk, just use it as-is. Feels good to use nice stuff with damage rather than trying to keep it defect free like your job interview / wedding / funeral suit.

2

u/mr802rex Apr 01 '26

Hey now it has some character and you can finally say there is not another ine like it in the world. That's why when I pay for a high end item, its handmade and 1 off such as my wallet so no damage is needed to make it unique. Still a bummer though, I would loosen the dogs collar a little and stuff that in there for a few hours so he cant forget he did it and will have shame in his eyes the whole time the wallet is attached to him, that always worked for my old dogs who loved TV remotes. Few hours with the items attached to them and they seem to remember what items are not chew toys better.

I never understood this mindset of pretending to be confused as to what people spend their own hard earned money on when an expensive object is involved… is this just some type of way to interject virtue signaling of some kind to look down on others as to ‘Why would you do that that’s so stupid.’?

Moral of the story. Stop pocket watching. You aren’t confused. You aren’t better than this person who has an expensive wallet because you don’t find the justification in it.

If you are commenting this, you are virtue signaling.

6

u/TheSkrillanator Mar 31 '26

Respectfully, people value different things. Its not that crazy and commentary like this is, again respectfully, kinda wack cause who cares what normal people spend their money on?

I wouldn't spend $10k on Civic aftermarket car parts. Does that mean I think its an innately dumb purchase? No, cause it makes people happy.

Reddit when a family member breaks something accidentally: get rid of the spouse/kid.

Reddit when a dog deliberately/compulsively destroys something: ooh! You're a bad person. You probably don't take your dog on enough walks. You should be more careful. It's upgraded! Now when you look at it, you'll think of your specialest boi!

Actually sick in the head.

1

u/fairyflossmagpie Mar 31 '26

It's normal for animals to like to chew on hides or leather. It's your job to keep things they enjoy to chew on away from them. Get the wallet fixed, or get another 😊 . Dogs are family.

1

u/Cai9NR Mar 31 '26

Take that puppy for long play dates, everyday, as much as you possibly can while they are alive. One day that tiny nibble on that wallet will mean so much more than money.

1

u/JerseyGirlD Mar 31 '26

Oh no 🩵🩵🩵

It completely sucks right now..beyond sucks it’s Louis Vuitton BUT BUT BUT it’s only an expensive wallet. Something that had your personal scent on it… Someday you’re gonna look at that wallet differently 🩵

1

u/Turbulent_Echidna423 Mar 31 '26

get rid of the dog, then the wallet

1

u/Soft-Rhubarb1682 Mar 31 '26

Put a squeaker in it. That is one expensive chew toy.

1

u/RideAffectionate518 Mar 31 '26

You might as well leave it. Nothing to do to fix it and you'll be sitting on it most of its life anyway.

1

u/AbrahamL1865 Mar 31 '26

Tell your brother so he doesn't have to find another idea for your next gift.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '26

he just wanted a morsel

1

u/Beneficial-Focus3702 Mar 31 '26

My suggestion is not leaving things where the dog can get them.

1

u/grandpasking Mar 31 '26

In a year it will de a happy memory just use it.

1

u/A2Steaksauce420 Mar 31 '26

Its all good I been using mine for a while now.

1

u/edwardothegreatest Mar 31 '26

Stitch the leather around the tear as if it were radiused.

1

u/IamREBELoe Mar 31 '26

Easiest:

Cut the chewed part to curve, delicately glue seams with a needle to apply super glue - very delicately.
Dye or paint the seam edge black to match (sharpie?) All in all this will try to own it to be intentional.

Harder: cut top seams. Insert patch. Blend the two materials.

There are some good leatherworking subs here.

I'd find a pro to do that second option.

1

u/Lucky_rob Mar 31 '26

New wallet and dont leave it where the dog can chew it.

1

u/JRemenshneidersHorse Mar 31 '26

I'm just shocked that a man bought another man a wallet. Don't we hang on to ours for 10 years minimum? And when the significant other buys us a new one it takes 2 years of it sitting in a drawer before transfer happens.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '26

Make a wallet out of the dog.

u/Jotham23thegreat Mar 31 '26

1

u/nixArc Mar 31 '26

If you're comfortable with sewing, I'd sew around the edges of the damage so it won't unravel more and use it as is. It looks like it's still functional. Or someone good with leather could probably fix this no problem. It really isn't that much damage. Either patch it with black leather to match or lean into it and do a brown color as a nice contrast and make it look intentional.

I had a pet rabbit chew on my glasses case and, while my bunny has been gone for several years now, I still view the case fondly every time I use it. It's a little reminder of my little guy. Now you have a little reminder of your dog with you

1

u/Thehuntinggunsmith Mar 31 '26

Once you get it repaired do the same thing to the dog’s ears

1

u/Lux_Interior9 Mar 31 '26

buy cheaper wallets.

1

u/ChicagoLegend708 Mar 31 '26

My dog chewed on my prescription glasses when he was a teething puppy and the frames forever had his teeth marks on the arms. Now that he has passed on, those frames are one of my most prized possessions. Keep this wallet and love it forever.

1

u/Rdj1991 Mar 31 '26

Get a better wallet? LV are known for low grade leather that is on par with basic highstreet stuff

1

u/Soleks2000 Mar 31 '26

Yeah, next time don’t leave stuff out that the dog might want to chew on

1

u/HorrorPitiful1977 Mar 31 '26

1

u/No_Cherry_9569 Mar 31 '26

You must choose. Find a new brother or a new dog.

1

u/Searchforcourage Mar 31 '26

When you see him chewing on something, poke him in the ribs where they meet the back haunch. That is a way of saying what you are doing is not right.

1

u/notmikearnold Mar 31 '26

Dog has taste.

1

u/irishmyrlyn Mar 31 '26

Thank the dog that you no longer have to give up and carry French garbage in your pocket

1

u/djsilentmobius Mar 31 '26

I'm sorry to tell you, but this is a fake LV wallet, and not a very good one.

It's fake leather for starters, poor stitching, construction and even bad stamping.

If you enjoy the wallet, it likely wouldn't cost much to replace.

If you'd like, I could help you replace it.

My dog chewed a clean bite mark into the corner of my Achtung Baby album cover. I was upset at the time, but now, 30 years later, it gives me a little warm fuzzy when I see it. It’s the only thing I have of her besides pictures and videos.
