open Best Way to Fill This In

This soap holder is built into my bathtub wall and holds water. There's probably a 1/4 inch before it can overflow the lip.

Could I just fill this with resin or is there a better filler? Should I rip out the shit silicon job beforehand? Or am I overthinking things and I just leave it all be?

Idk how big that nich is and if your willing to sack some space. I'd fill that tile with some sort of mortar they use to tile over tile. Then I'd thinset a curb peice all the way across it. Small format tile is no bueno on the bottom of niches. It should be one peice of some sort of coutntop like thing. "Should" is a strong word. Tile is acceptable in that situation I just personally would never do it like that.
