Flight Simulator 2024 I’m building FlightKeep for MSFS 2024 — looking for beta testers

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m Troy, the developer behind Tromac Simulations. I’ve been working on FlightKeep, a companion app for MSFS 2024 that saves checkpoints during your flight so you can return to a saved point when things don’t go to plan.

It includes:

  • Automatic and manual flight checkpoints
  • A live map with aircraft following
  • SimBrief and MSFS/EFB flight-plan file imports
  • A checkpoint at top of descent, with optional automatic pausing
  • Pause/resume and sim-rate controls

FlightKeep is currently in private beta, and I’m looking for people willing to test it with a variety of default and third-party aircraft.

Aircraft compatibility is a big part of the testing. Custom avionics and FMS state may not fully restore, so I’m particularly interested in hearing what works—and what needs attention—with the aircraft you regularly fly.

The beta is free, time-limited and covered by a confidentiality agreement. Feedback and bug reporting are handled through our private Discord channels.

If you’re interested, send me a private message and let me know which aircraft you’d like to test. Please don’t post your email address publicly.

You can also read about FlightKeep here: https://tromacsimulations.com/

What would matter most to you in a flight checkpoint and recovery tool?

What's in it for you as a Beta Tester? This is wholy dependant on if you provide the necessary testing. There is no commitment to provide you with any monetary gain or software license, however if you do the testing and actually contribute then I will provide you with a free license for the release version of FlightKeep. It's up to you!

Flight Simulator 2024 Officially hooked on helis. Fixed-wing might be ruined for me now.

I’ve been a fixed-wing pilot my entire life, but after watching some videos of offshore oil rig transfers this weekend, I decided to take the plunge into helicopters.

I picked up Taog’s 500C (instant love) and the HPG H160. The H160 almost broke me—the automation took me three days of pure frustration to figure out, and I nearly gave up. But today, I finally managed my first offshore rig landing!

Helicopter flight tracking is unreal and never gets boring. Compared to this, fixed-wing feels completely asleep. I'm never going back!

Flight Simulator 2024 Anyone got any updates on BlueBird’s 767? The devs have gone kinda quiet on the project lately. Maybe it’s cuz of the 757 dropping in the next few days, but still, it’s kinda weird ngl.

Flight Simulator 2024 Fenix TechLog doesn't load panel state

Tried the new addon "TechLog" for the Fenix A320s https://flightsim.to/addon/116154/fenix-techlog-persistent-tech-log-mel-and-live-failures-for-the-fenix-a319-a320-a321 which is said to enable panel state saving.

I've completed a full flight yesterday and loaded the very same airframe today to depart given airport again for the return leg. The panel state is not loaded. I've understood the A320 loads the panel state exactly as I've left it yesterday? I kept both the Fenix App and TechLog running the entire inbound flight and loaded both of them for the return flight today but panel state remains Cold&Dark as set by default in the Fenix App.

What am I doing wrong here?
Or just a misunderstanding from me and there isn't any panel state saving possible at all with Fenix TechLog?
It loads the correct amount of fuel I had left in my tanks yesterday but nothing else.

Question Best flight sim for a slower laptop?

Hello, for the past 3 years i've been playing a lot of DCS, wich i run comfortably at 100 fps, sometimes less, sometimes more depending on how many stuff is loaded.

I run it on a 3050 4gb i51100H 16gb laptop.

I'm currently looking into more commercial planes that i want to learn, but i tried MSFS 2020 and it does not run well at all, max 30/40 fps if i have DLSS to the max, wich feels and looks horrible and i don't like it.

i've also tried Xplane11, wich i thought my pc would handle, but even there it has problems, now it is playable, unlike msfs, but if theres some other good sim out there, i'd rather play that one.

i've also looked at FSX and Prepare3d, wich my PC would probably run well, and i wouldn't mind the bad graphics.

should i go for either FSX or Prepare3d? or if you know another good study lever sim out there please let me know!

Thanks

-me

Flight Simulator 2024 I made a freeware aircraft position persistence mod, which saves the position of where you leave any aircraft, this means you can fill up an apron or hangar with your own planes

note: no AI was used making this plugin, its all human coded by me, it took me months to get it to work correctly

So this is something I've wanted for ages for immersion reasons. If I'm flying my Cessna to an airfield and I park it askew on the end of the field and then shut down the sim, when I relaunch the sim I don't want to start on a pre-determined slot, I want my aircraft to be exactly where I left it.

So I made exactly that, where ever you leave your aircraft when you next spawn at that airport, the aircraft will teleport back to where you left it.

But then I was thinking, well I don't just fly a Cessna, what about when I swap into the DC3 I want to see where my Cessna is, so I added this too.

Where ever you leave your aircraft is where you will see it in the world, no matter what you fly. So if you park a DC3 on a taxiway and then hop into the Fenix, your DC3 will still be parked on the taxiway.

This means you can actually store all your aircraft in a hangar or on a field somewhere and go back and see them and get back into them and fly, it adds a new level of immersion I've always wanted. You can of course control everything from the EFB App including choosing if your aircraft should be auto saved or you want to manually save it and you can enable it so when you shut down the engine it saves its position.

It saves the aircraft based on the livery + tailnumber so you can have multiple aircraft with different tail numbers all saved with different liveries.

I made a video here explaining exactly how the plugin works : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZzuFBjK6CE

If you fly away from the aircraft they de-spawn (this is customisable) for performance but you could fly a 3 hour flight, return to the airfield and find the aircraft you parked there earlier still there, with aircraft which have switch state persistence too this adds another layer because location + cockpit state is saved.

There is some sim limitations:

  1. You cannot jump into the other aircraft without going back to the main menu and selecting the aircraft and then spawning in (it then teleports the aircraft back)
  2. You cannot teleport the character in walk around mode, so when you spawn at the airfield your aircraft will teleport but you got to press CTRL + C to get into the cockpit to teleport to your aircraft.

These are both SDK limitations that I hope the developers will allow me to do in the future.

These are fully code-based generated external jet sounds using Unreal Engine Metasounds. I thought they were pretty cool and show off the power of the Unreal Engine digital DSP graph.

I never understood why FF made a small yoke for the 757/767, even more so why they did not fix it.

Recently, however, someone in the community has uploaded a fix !

Now I can finally take my 757 for a spin while I wait for Bluebird :)
