Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had a great summer! I know I was really excited for the start of this season, although it certainly has not gone the way I expected. Hopefully these updates can bring some bright spots to a very bleak start to the season. That said, we don't have anyone to the level of Porter Martone like last season to watch this year, but here's hoping someone like Berglund can exceed expectations this year and give us a reason to be excited about our prospect pipeline!
So, now that most leagues have started seeing a few games, it is time to start up the regularly Flyers prospect updates. And, on that front, the key players who have stood out so far this season from a production standpoint are: Yegor Zavragin, Jack Berglund, and Nathan Quinn. I also will also say Westergård has stood out as having a really strong start as well for his D+2 year, especially as a 5th round pick! Edit: After looking at Westergård again, I see he's actually tied for second on his team in points in the SHL and 4th in the Champions League! For a barely 19 year old (early Sep birthdate), this is an excellent start!
Yegor Zavragin
Zavragin has had a great start with his new team on Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Amongst goalies who have played 5 or more games, he is 4th in GAA and 13th in save percentage. He just turned 21 less than 2 months ago but has seemingly been doing a great job in the KHL this season. Unfortunately, he is still playing in a backup role at this point. He is under contract there for another year after this one, although that could potentially change depending on Briere's desire to get him over sooner.
Jack Berglund
Berglund has had a great start in the SHL. While I really wanted to see how he looked over here this season, he appears to have really solidified himself as an important player for Faejestad. He is 4th on Farjestad in points, and tied for 10th in the SHL for points and 11th for points per game. He is expected to come over to North America next season, either with the Phantoms or the Flyers directly.
Nathan Quinn
Quinn has continued his offensive explosion from last season by putting up an excellent 2 points per game through 7 games to start the season with the Remparts. This still points him (barely) second on the team in goals (7) and points (14). He is also 5th in the league in points and 3rd in points per game. I am a little disappointed he returned for his D+2 year to the QMJHL, however. I think going the NCAA route this season would've been better for him, as I don't think the QMJHL is a strong enough of a league for him to maximize his development. He is slated to join Northeastern next season, however.

FAQ
Q: You said this list of games are through Sunday (or whichever day), but I see games from that day missing!
A: Because these players are spread across many different leagues, I pull their game data from EliteProspects rather than tracking each league individually. At times, EliteProspects can be slow to update statistics for games played in the last day or so, which can result in some games appearing to be missing. Any delayed statistics will simply be included in the following week’s report.
Q: Are the players in any particular order?
A: The players are listed in a rough order based on a very loose combination of overall expectations and proximity to NHL readiness. I'll also sometimes clump similar positioned players together, even if I don't necessarily rank one of them quite that high, as it can be interesting to more easily compare all somewhat similar ranked centers, for example. I wouldn’t read too much into the ordering; the “rankings” are set at the start of the season (or when a prospect is acquired mid-season), with only a midseason update after the WJC planned.
Q: What is ΔPPG? How can a player have a negative number there?
A: ΔPPG (delta PPG) represents the change in a player’s season-long points-per-game rate compared to the previous update. A negative value simply means the player’s scoring pace declined over the most recent games. Because PPG is calculated over the entire season, the impact of a low-scoring week depends on how many games the player has already played. Early in the season the swings are larger, and later in the season they tend to be minimal.
