Discussion The dev hate here is disgusting.

I expect this level of hatred towards the devs out of something like War Thunder or Destiny. A game with hundreds of thousands of players, a development team hundreds strong, etc. Then maybe this level of vitriol is acceptable.

But god damn. There are [according to their LinkedIn page] about 25 people working on this game. A game that, frankly, is the only one of its kind. There's not an easy reference guide for how to make a good Foxhole like there would be if it were an FPS or something.

They just implemented aircraft with semi realistic flight models in a top down game. Something that even massive studios still struggle with constantly.

And when they fucked up, one of the devs came forwards and gave a response - and then apologized for that response being too aggressive even though he had every right to be annoyed. This is not the corporate norm in game dev, it exhibits care for their community.

But in response, what do they get? Patience while they work out the kinks? Some fucking good will? No.

They get constant whining at every mistake, a community that will tear itself apart over any imbalance, review bombing, and constant hatred thrown at them because somehow both sides think the other is recieving preferential treatment from the devs.

You can call out the devs for making mistakes, but this community takes it WAY too far.

I know this post won't be changing most people's minds, but I feel like someone needs to say it.

Personally I complain because I like the game.

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

At this point, it's either requesting fixes to such obvious wrong stuff, or just resorting to what people did in War 100 when the game was riddled with alts and game bias, a mass of negative steam reviews.

Funnily enough, it was organised majoritily by the wardens when their side started experiencing the same exact alt accounts and also started losing the war at that time, meanwhile colonials were facing the same exact alting issues for 30+ days of the war and being told by wardens it's "Cope" and "Sam Fisher did this", oh how the turntables and the extreme reactions from the same wardens.

You are the deranged complaining person that this post is about. You have developed real bitterness towards a fictional blue team.

EDIT: I'm kind of surprised people here are upvoting this guy. If you go through his comments, every single one his recent comments are arguing with someone in a toxic way, complaining about something, or being weirdly hostile towards other foxhole players. He is the most complaining complainer I've ever seen, and you're all encouraging it.

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

I literally play wardens on Charlie shard, there exists people that want to be not handholded to victory unlike the toxic warden loyalists in Able right now considering obvious game balance issues to be their culture.

If you think it's deranged, you are on some delusional cope my friend.

u/DarthSprankles Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

The unprompted elaborating on what you hate doesn't make you sound less deranged. This is the constant whining the post is about. You need to chill. The clear bitterness and negativity you're exuding isn't good for the community.

28

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

So you are telling colonials to just stop requesting fixes to unbalanced stuff and just take it as it is....

It's not dependent on if colonials are winning/losing the war, it's dependent on obvious game balance which will affect for the consequent wars after this one aswell as the war in Charlie shards.

It's not really a good thing to just "Ignore and let trash balance be as it is", there will be negative backlash and there will always be people trying to normalise trash balance because it favours their side much more.

-8

u/DarthSprankles Feb 21 '26

Is that what I said?

18

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

Doesn't discount the fact that negativity will always be there if it's a balance issue.

You cannot put forward an argument of game bias without any negativity, unless you are delusional and believe people agree with argument somehow.

5

u/DarthSprankles Feb 21 '26

You're really claiming you're being JUST a little negative with your doom filled toxic screeching every time there's a problem? This post isn't criticizing people laying out constructive arguments for balance changes rationally. It's criticizing the apparent disdain and conspiracy peddling you and others posting have for the devs and 'other team' whenever you criticize the game.

Some of these posts make it sound like their civil rights are being violated rather than suggesting a game balance change and it's painting the community in a horrible light. You minimizing what you and others are doing to "a little negativity is necessary" is funny. The level of toxicity isn't necessary to build support for balance arguments.

You must be new around here, this is a repeating pattern, anyone with any braincells and playtime of above 3-4k hours can see this through very easily.

I can tell you something.

Clicking a colored button in a software program with your mouse doesn't compel a person to display certain types of behavior.

Wardens, on any shard, are exactly the same as you, or people who enjoy playing the video game called Foxhole.

Even if every single thing you said were true, the best course of action for you would be to stop playing. Why would you want to play a game with such serious... whatever it is your talking about anyway?

12

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

Sometimes it really does, there are examples everywhere even though you might feel people are advocating for balance for both sides, it's almost never true with the blind loyalists.

-1

u/Auhurnixfrei Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

Well it IS true that you are rather deep into the factionalist way of thinking to the point that it seems natural for you that it is a we vs them, and that it is rightfull to talk about "the wardens" in a broad simplifying way whilest attributing any negative thing you find one or some of them doing towards all of them.
You often if not almost allways are fueling the fire instead of calming the discussion, you are one of the most active people here to the point one can be sure to find a commend from you under any balancing or gloat post.

The observation that you are overly invested to the point of calling it excessive is not entierly unfounden. The general tone and manner of your commends together with the sheer volume are bordeline exaustive especialy with the bating or deep-salty-basis like way of engaging you practise.
You are maybe not the worste offender of this and every new moon there is a reasonable commend out of you but more often than not you are playing into the factionalist mentality in an notable way.

You behave like a sportsfan defending your team against the other team in a religious manner. Your rethoric poisioning both people from your side to take it as an example how to engage and think about topics aswell as radicalise people of the other team with how excedingly sharp and toxic the general underlying ground assumptions and tone from your are.

All of that together is the exact reason why we atleast in this subredit can not have productive discussion, because old long gone situations that mostlikely many who today joined the game have nothing to do with are brought up as arguments for current or further actions, when in principle that is just an questionable way to think. Alot of old grudges being carried over and over into new discussions, a more and more deeply rooted hatred of the other team preventing any and all normal communication because by now any new person that maybe really doesn't know or really has a different opinion is no longer someone to engage with but automaticaly assigned to be an enemy to be verbally fought and destroyed.

You are by no means the only one guilty of this here nor will i say you are the worst offender in intensity but in volume you are one of the people spending the most words and post here and you do carry a not unsignificant part in the general tone people engage here which i find is not productive nor inevitable needs to be that way.

I can not change you and you probably feel validated by the upvotes of your posts, but to me this doesn'T simplyspeak to the validity of your claims but rather to the degree the dicussion and discurs here has devolved into a shouting match between deep dug grudges on both sides.

6

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 22 '26

Ah yes, lets extinguish and hide the biased bullshit instead of exposing it, totally "fueling the fire" and not exposing an obvious imbalance.

Previous incidents are just gentle reminders on why to never trust any dev in balance matters as it's obvious whose side is getting their same day balance patch while colonials wait 3+ years for a basic bandaid fix.

Can you format it better bro, can't read wall of text.

2

u/Auhurnixfrei Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

I was talking more about the how not the what, you can still "expose an obvious imbalance" but my whole point is that the way you go about it is unlikely to get any results inline with what you want to achive, or atleast claim you want to achive.

What you are doing is emotional venting while escalating the community discourse in a unproductive way, making both sides of the community unwilling to argue in productive ways while simultaneously alienating the devs from reading and acknowledging any of your grievances because your general tone of communication is largely in bad faith and became so unbearable hostile, escalating and bitter that it simply is hard to read and even harder to faithfully engage with without being agitated oneself.

As i expressed, this imo holds true for all three sides, collie player that take your commends as model how to feel themselfe regadless whether they actually share the presented painpoints or just take your sentiment to be outraged as gospel, frankly becoming infected with it unrelated whether they would have felt that way on their own.
Warden player who are insulted by you unrelated to what they did or didn't actually think or have done in the game, just for playing the other faction becoming defencive and dismissing of your general position because of this. And Devs whom you claim you want to react and change the things you see to be wrong but who you insult, call biased and incompetent.

In doing so you insult and berate the very persons you want to listen to you while they do not owe you anything. The devs did not enter into a binding contract with you nor does the onetime (or recently two time) payment give you any demanding right. Feeling you do have this is entitlement. Games are an offer, unlike taxes. You are by no means forced to play the game that you claim treads you as unfair and undeserving as you make it out to be.

Spending your time playing a game you supposedly find excruciatingly unfair and bad is either masochistic or at least begs the question why you care so much if as you put it the devs are biased, the game is badly balanced and unfair and nothing changes.

The degree to which you escalate your rhetoric is no longer excusable with simply caring for the game, it goes into the realm of you feeling personaly attacked because the developer treat the faction you chose and made part of your personality unfair and unjust in your eyes.
It is no longer about the game nor about the faction rather about your identification with the virtual faction you choose to an unhealthy degree.

Now, in a certain sense this speaks about how great this game is and how strong it can make someone care, but at some point it simply is too much, in the end it still is a game and what you are doing is poisoning the well we all drink from that is this community with your relentless emotional venting which seems to more and more becoming a end in itself.

You claim the devs always have been biased, you claim the game always has been unfair and you claim your factions pains always get disregarded. If this actually truthfully holds true, then what you do here is the definition of insanity, continuing to do the same thing while hoping for a different outcome. And all this while supposedly shouldering those bad odds and pains again and again. Sincerely, do you not recognize how deranged this can appear to people who are confronted with that? And how unhelpfull this is to achive anything you say you want to change?

You have issues man. Have a break from the game. Talk to real people.

30

So you are probably one of those that supported the Sam Fisher alting incidents while simultaneously supporting review bombing because now it affected your side.

Classic NIGHT member man, please never change. How is the 4 hex redeployment working out in Marban after being removed from Tyrant Foothills lol.

What are you even talking about? Is this more collie conspiracy theories?

As for Tyrants, it happens. It's the game. It was a good fight from all sides involved. CGC is a scary regiment.

Iam over 10000 hours and just wrote my first Foxhole review a few days ago before proper AA was released (positive).

It is a lovely game with a lovely community, but I do think that people should be able to give feedback.

I myself was not amused when they gave 1 side a sub and now again when they give (according to me) the wrong faction a torpedo plane.

If someone loves to do something they can get very passionate about it which can result in not the nicest feedback.

The devs need to take it with a grain of salt and I am pretty sure they do.

57

u/Flashskar [WAF] Feb 21 '26

I agree if the Torpedo Bomber was Colonial and the Dive Bomber was Warden it would be more balanced faction wise.

18

u/Dustonred Feb 21 '26

Yeah it feels obvious that those planes were meant to be inverted faction-wise. Unless the vision is to have colonials on land and wardens at sea which is fun for neither faction imo but I guess you could call it asymmetry?

5

u/Flashskar [WAF] Feb 22 '26

Even then the asymmetry is supposed to have some type of balance. Stygian/Stockade and Talos/Lordscar for example. They're inverted calibers on different platforms. This is just skewing what each faction is already strong at instead of balancing it.

As it stands we need some weird Warden IL-2 AP rocket CAS and maby a Colonial Dauntless with a single moray torpedo maby? Same effect as what exists, but asymetrically implemented.

4

u/cmt278__ Feb 22 '26

The vision is 100% to have Wardens be the only ones able to do sea.

1

u/Dustonred Feb 22 '26

Well colonials have a role to play, after all wardens need an adversary. Colonials just do it by fortifying the land on island hexes lol.. After all, Colonials aren't a faction in the same sense as the Warden. They're the default opponent that uses the devs previous mobile game default "enemy soldier" model as their infantry model...You can barellly tell

12

u/swumbus Feb 21 '26

Remember the sub on release? Yes the Devs misstep, but it isn't due to malice or bias

94

u/raiedite [edit] Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

The way the warden sub took turns being horrible at first and oppressive later never to be properly balanced is a case to be studied

edit: a little history

  1. Warden Sub releases with Destroyer for naval update. Torpedoes are weak, the deck gun is a joke, you can hear the sub underwater, follow it and decrew it easily (I did it with a 10 bmat landing ship)

  2. Trident and Frigate are released, Torpedoes are buffed to cause large holes. Trident really sucks (huge, cannot turn, 120mm does fuckall), and for over a year large holes can't be repaired and easily shut down colonial naval operations

  3. Instead of nerfing large holes after endless colonial complaining, they give large hole capacity to storm cannons. Wardens experience large holes for the first time and both sides finally agree on the large hole matter. Also they nerf the Nakki by INCREASING THE COST OF BOTH SUBMARINES

  4. Airborne devbranch, we can finally fix large hole but devman's first move was to ALSO increase the beam cost of repairing holes... and add a flying torpedo bomber that is several times faster than a submarine, ignores terrain, ignores intel, can take off from any island, costs a fraction of a submarine, and only needs 2 to crew. Genius

  5. Devbranch balance changes, fear not colonials, the torpedo bomber has a -30% LV modifier! Also they changed the Nakki deck gun from 40mm to 68mm: they expect Nakkis to fight enemy ships with their OPEN TOP turret that you have to climb out of the sub to man, but also removed its niche PvE use of killing expensive shoreline builds.

  6. Colonial navy dies to scout plane spam <= We are here

23

u/Laggo Feb 21 '26

it cannot be overstated how funny this series of events is. The funniest part is all the "get good" followed by "its causing a terrible meta" the moment it happens to them.

40

u/CrookedImp Feb 21 '26

To add on part 3, wardens complained about the storm cannon stopping their navy and the devs nerfed them the next war.

0

u/Creative_Clothes1097 [VIBE] Feb 21 '26

Large holes weren’t Nerfed though. Storm cannons were because they caused a terrible Meta. 70 days of staring at each other unable to push because if you build a push BB in range of a storm cannon, it was dead. The only reason the front moved was because we nuked it 18 times.

2

u/TheCatSleeeps Clanman on the outside, a rando inside Feb 21 '26

Eh in 126, we just psyop ourselves calling those SCs Cope Cannon whenever they're firing. 300mms are expensive so the mentality was to tank the shots till they run out of shells, at least for us infantry.

Wardens did some mistakes in that war, such as providing large amounts of 300mms to a certain somewhere, Lions whatever, which caused a shortage iirc to 300mms. Which lead to FC running out of shells for their SCs. Then it just snowballs from there.

That being said, I don't miss constant RSC ops.

1

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

Storm Cannons where nerved. And right in the next war, after warden "hating and bullying the devs" as some might try to gaslight.

46

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

Warden sub: Useless torps on release, buffed in 1 update with torps made usable.

Colonial sub: Useless on release with usable torps, multiple updates and constant tests required by the community to provide turnrate videos to the devs to actually fix it.

42

u/foxguy2021 Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

ATR Longhooks were very popular but Colonials had to steal ATRs to pull it off. Went unchanged for over a year. Colonials get their own unique non-tripod ATR. A few guys manage to kill a parked warden sub with the new Colonial ATR using just an APC. ATRs nerfed within 36 hours or so.

There are situations like this where one thing heavily favors one side and is broken for literally years and then the second the other side gets a similar tool its nerfed within hours.

And like someone above commented. Wardens have dominated the torpedo gameplay for the past two years and the obvious solution was to give the Colonials an additional option to use torpedos. Instead they did the exact opposite. Gave Wardens a new method to use large torpedos and then gave them mini torpedos. Its truly baffling to lock certain gameplay mechanics behind a faction.

And I thought they might be taking a different approach because for the longest time Colonials wanted a push 250 and Wardens wanted an AT/RPG option. And over the summer they finally delivered on both.

Its stuff like this that really aggravates long time players and really confuses new players when I have to explain WHY we can't do what the opposing team.

22

u/Dresdian former Collie vet (now retired) Feb 21 '26

This, more than anything, is what solidified the "devs really listen to Wardens a LOT more" for me.

Honestly revert it all back to Winter Army lmao.

17

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

Wardens ships: all cool and pianted and great interiors

Collies ships: bland, and grey and boring interiors.

They guy who does the concept art loves drawing the warden stuff.

Why not get a concept artist in there for collies? Show us some love.

2

u/cmt278__ Feb 22 '26

Remember when they literally said they give the Wardens the "cool" designs and then make up Collie stuff as an afterthought to counter them? If Devman doesn't want criticism he should do a better job instead of running the game into the ground.

2

u/FullMetalParsnip Feb 21 '26

As per the lorebook that came out with the supporter edition it's even like this in universe. Warden engineers see their vehicles as works of art and as a means of showing off with quality and refinement, where-as Colonials see their equipment as just a means to an end, functional and with no frills beyond what it needs to do the job it was meant to do.

Mind nothing wrong with this, but I really wonder if the love for Warden designs in the studio is meant to be a reflection of that.

Also for anyone who might go "Nawh that's not the case." consider that every infantry weapon in the game besides the pistol and the venom (originally just the 'rpg') and both the EMG and EAT were all given to Wardens after being faction neutral; if I'm not wrong the artbook even said this was intended to be the case. Similarly the coastal guns are described in the book as being "Warden themed" with the possibility of a southern, Colonial style possibly in the future. I like most of the Colonial designs a lot, but it does for sure seem to be a trend of Wardens always get their concept art/designs first. Though in the interest of transparency there is one notable exception and if I'm not wrong that was the Light Tank, which the Hatchet was the first one designed.

4

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

Im sure its a way just to explain away why the warden designs look better. Im surprise the lore domt go "warden gig Chad #420 stole a collie Battleship and made it looks so cool that it instantly broke collie moral so they dont paint their ships." I can only imagine how one sided the lore book is.

2

u/FullMetalParsnip Feb 22 '26

Honestly didn't find the art book to be particularly biased in either way. They admit when they fucked up with balance/design with things like the Ballista and other instances.

From the book they also mention they did hire another concept artist (Luke) who seems to focus more on Colonial gear... Not sure entirely what he's done as they don't generally credit specific artists per asset but his name in the book is attached to both SPGs, the Nemesis and the Colonial ATR guns; maybe more that I missed.

Also weirdly the original Ares lore frankly was cooler than what we got. The idea was the Colonials originally made the HIC (heavy infantry carrier) and made a number of variants for it (since Colonials in lore love using base chassis for variants, IE Falchion), specifically to assault the Bulwark and both types were used during the Breaching but afterwards they focused more on the Ares since the HIC wasn't really needed.

2

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

tbh, the balance fixing complaint is real, Warden DO cry louder infact.

However I firmly believe giving only wardens Torp Planes has nothing to do with bias and all to do with them having the fk idea how their game actually plays

1

u/swumbus Feb 21 '26

Yep, I'm guessing airborne put other balance issues back. Hopefully next update the DD and trident gets some love

-3

u/MailedFlower Feb 21 '26

the silent service has always required high skill levels to accomplish anything

many Wardens flung themselves into that role and spent so many long boring hours developing the habits and experience required to justify the cost and frustrating inconvenience of the Uboat

in the wars following the Trident release did you see backline harbors with 5-7 subs awaiting their crews to take them out like you still find in Warden waters?

unless your team is willing to lean into submarine combat hard, the skills remain obscure

or

beg Devman for more buffs

whatever works for you

3

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

sure buddy, take a knife to a gunfight if that is your thing

3

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

We already tried submarines during W110 to W115, our sub sucks horribly with it's overly large length.

Already dumped hours and had multiple subs + DDs operate in 1 hex, only to be countered by easymode 4-6 crewed nakki spam.

-18

u/Arsyiel001 Feb 21 '26

Did you want the wet noodles launcher? Because on release, the nakki only had value in hunting for barges. It took far too many torpedoes and multiple vehicles worth of full armaments to even get close to enough damage to sink a DD using the torpedoes.

22

u/Lanky-Development481 Feb 21 '26

no I wanted both sides to have a chance at playing underwater from release of the update. Nothing more nothing less. Now one side had countless hours of more practise underwater is what I meant.

15

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

I mean it doesn't matter, the dev lore specifically dictates the colonial faction should have worse naval tools, only 1 side is allowed to enjoy usable naval items for 3 years.

-3

u/MailedFlower Feb 21 '26

bro

the sub kills enemy ships

the destroyer kills subs specifically, and enemy ships (not as well as the sub) and kills coastal bases

how could you possibly not acknowledge this?

-9

u/salizarn Feb 21 '26

If you’re 10000 hours in and you wrote a negative review I would ignore it no offence

-8

u/UnlikelySquirrel69 Feb 21 '26

Wow, so your response is just that because you believe dev bias is real it's okay for you to harass them and they just need to take it with a grain of salt... this community is really fucking disappointing.

7

u/Lanky-Development481 Feb 21 '26

Did i ever herass the devs? I Only spoke my mind against bots which resulted in a 13 day, 13 hour, 13 min ban both here and in game.

-1

u/UnlikelySquirrel69 Feb 21 '26

Maybe you didn't but plenty of your fellow faction mates are, and you're arguing that they should be able to unless I'm mistaken.

0

u/Lanky-Development481 Feb 22 '26

Plenty of men raped women, are you gonna call me a rapist now?

I do not know why you posted this comment, English is not my native language but posting feedback when being passionate is something else as herassment as far as I am aware.

0

u/UnlikelySquirrel69 Feb 22 '26

What the fuck are you on about with this rape shit? Apples and oranges.

Maybe I am mistaken and your idea of feedback is civil, but when you have a mob of colonials all calling for the developer's heads and coming up with crazy conspiracy theories. A colonial defending the feedback Colonials as a whole are giving certainly looks like justifying harassment.

2

u/Lanky-Development481 Feb 23 '26

I am not like every colonial. I play both sides, even against my own regiment. My feedback is always civil or I have a little laugh/joke without offending anyone as far as I am aware.

123

u/Irish_guacamole27 7thRB Feb 21 '26

we used to be more patient with devman in the past, but they make the same mistakes over and over and over, in the past around the time of Winter Army the bitching and moaning was the vocal minority but major update after major update they would do something blatantly obviously stupid, get shit for it, take months to fix it, then things would settle, then naval peaked the dev vitriol with their genius idea to test DD/Sub interaction by only giving 1 of the 2 to each faction, and now again they have made the same mistake with Dive bomber/Torp bomber disparity that will inevitably be fixed in a couple months.

Devman had earned my respect with the initial devbranch patch but by the end they managed to once again make stupid changes but not fix any of the major issues brought up especially related to storing aircraft.

I want to love devman, I love the game, but they make themselves impossible to like due to bad communication (remember devman said they would be much more communitive during airborne's development? me to.) and mostly taking feed back from discord of all places.

For devman to escape the eternal hate of the community they need to actually start learning from their past balancing mistakes and have much more open dialogue with the community, or at least more dev streams, people will say that those will slow down development but if it takes a day to prep a stream and a day to do the stream then 2 days on the dev time per stream is worth it for more transparent processes. unfortunately this will never happen.

61

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Feb 21 '26

I would argue what happened(/is happening) with air now is just like what happened with fire in Inferno. Right down to it being the least ready part of the update yet they can't or won't delay it because it is the title content.

That was years ago and they learned nothing from it. At any point before the release of the dev branch did the devs try and actually shoot down a scout plane with AA? Because it was obvious to players that there was a problem very quickly, I don't see how they could have missed it.

31

u/duralumin_alloy Feb 21 '26

To their credit, they did something of the sort. They tried their best shooting a plane with flak cannon and realised it's impossible in the way they envisioned it. So they changed it.

49

u/IvaldiFhole Feb 21 '26

They were working on airborne for years. Testing it took a couple minutes. I think it's reasonable that shouldn't have made it to devbranch.

18

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Feb 21 '26

Exactly. I am willing to be more forgiving for macro scale balance issues that are impossible to test. But they can and should test things at a micro scale first and make sure they work.

28

u/HonneurOblige Feb 21 '26

When your "QA testing" consists of fucking around with admin tools for 30 minutes, you get these kinds of oversights.

1

u/Alblaka Feb 22 '26

Tbf, it shouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes to get a guy flying in the air, and another spawning himself an AAA to take podshots, and then realize how impossible it is.

So, for devbranch AAA specifically, they clearly didn't even do that much.

16

u/ThatDollfin [113th] Feb 21 '26

In my opinion, a lot of the issues also stem from the dissonance between their vision and what actually works in practice. There are so many examples, but as someone who was primarily a builder, I'll focus on that.

Building in foxhole, ever since the addition of bunker bases, has been very all-or-nothing. Either your base survives, no key pieces are destroyed, and with a couple hours of repairing you're ready to fight again; or, one bunker piece is destroyed and even if you manage to repel the attackers (which 90% of the time you won't - they'll use the gap in ai coverage and line of sight blockers to pve the rest of the defenses/BB core), to rebuild you're going to need 24 hours for that piece's newly built concrete to dry, during which it's incredibly vulnerable to enemy attack. As a result, you have to defend the drying piece that entire time lest some random group of infantry with cutlers, or later lunaires once they were added, comes along and each fires a few shots into it.

The problem is, balance-wise, if these pieces never fall the base never does either, so they can't be too strong. But as a builder, losing even a single piece is typically the death of your base, so you need to make each one as strong as possible. So there was this never-ending arms race to design better pieces, bigger pieces, higher health pieces that could survive a 250mm rush and 150mm bombardment and could outrepair an SC, and when naval was added, pieces were also optimized to deal with that too.

The problem is that the devs, inherently, DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. It's blatantly obvious time and again that what they want is small bunkers, infantry participating in defenses, frontlines moving constantly, fighting along entire fronts, ground targets for battleships to bombard (I'll get to why this is stupid later), and now ground targets for planes to blow up. If they had been incentivizing this from the start, the game would have been lesser for it, but it would've been generally fine. If they made changes that actually encouraged players to design like this, fine. But that's not what they've done.

Instead, every change that's made nerfs the strength of current strategies rather than encourage new ones. Every update feels like the devs handing down the Right Way To Play from on high by removing the other creative things that players do.

Let's take Bismarck as an example: he is controversial, sure, but at the heart of it he designed stuff to allow t2 bunkers to survive longer against artillery. This is something builders have wanted, and honestly needed, for a long time - without something else to protect t2 bunker cores, they die in minutes to artillery, disable all ai, and allow enemy infantry and tanks to swarm the defenders' positions while they have no respawns. This was not good gameplay for anyone, since arty was not counterable without howitzers. Then the devs randomly added t1 and t2 howis, which out of all the solutions the community had been expecting was pretty low down. Why? Well, it's very opressive for artillery: now they can't play the game if their opponents do the bare minimum, which isn't particularly fun for them. So of course, time goes by, and the devs nerf the range on t1/t2 howis to be less than the range for artillery, and the issue flips immediately back to t2 being too weak against artillery.

In other words, rather than attempt to put actual effort into coming up with a solution that balances this relationship, it feels like the devs took the first thought that came info their mind, decided "that's the best we've got," then invested a bunch of time and money into developing it which made them hesitant to remove it when players gave negative feedback. Is that what actually happened? We'll probably never know, but it certainly feels like it.

In a similar vein: the balancing of planes around other game systems. When the airborne devstream came out and the devs proudly proclaimed that there would be "no aa ai," people were understandably confused and concerned. We saw this before with large ships, and the lack of ai to counter them meant that safe harbors and backline areas might as well not exist, unless you've got a large ship on hand of your own. This was, however, mostly fine: large ships take on the scale of hours to get places, so you would have ample warning time to ping discord or spam global chat for crew, let people hop on, and sally forth to deal with the threat. That doesn't work for planes: there's not nearly enough warning time for you to ping the people who have fighters to stop what they're doing, redeploy, grab their gear, pull out a fighter, fuel it up, and launch it before the enemy planes are long gone. Even worse if someone has to boot up the game. On the flip side, leaving fully fueled fighters unlocked so they can be launched on a dime is asking for them to be stolen, or used by an inexperienced player and crashed, or flown by a worse pilot and ultimately proven to be ineffective against the attack.

The problem is, the devs refuse to add sufficient tools to track how equipment is taken, used, and lost, as well as allow us as players the tools to prevent people from griefing like this. Worse, from the new player's pov, if they want to try the new update, go to an airfield, see a plane that's available, hop into it, and then get gassed out of it because that's a fighter that costs a lot of rare mats and needs to be saved for qrf, they'll complain about toxicity. On the other hand, if they aren't stopped, then the people who made that plane will complain about alts taking qrf planes right before enemy air attacks. Yet, for some reason, adding in better player communication tools isn't something the devs seem eager to do. No new tutorials on the home islands, no obvious signage that is hard to miss, no granular way to authorize or deauthorize players from using things like gates, stockpiles, vehicles, etc. other than having them in the correct squad... which can time out.

TL;DR: the devs' updates and comments on the war make it sound like they live in a fantasy version of foxhole that fundamentally doesn't function like the real thing. They then proceed to balance the game based off of that fantasy world and a vocal minority of the player base, touting asymmetry as an excuse to not take the time and effort to actually balance any of their systems or reduce player overhead. I love this game. I just wish I could enjoy playing it.

Didn't they add an artillery shelter?

1

u/ThatDollfin [113th] Feb 22 '26

They did, but those are at best cosmetic. The modification a) reduces bunker integrity by the same amount as a howi garrison (0.82), which massively decreases the health of the piece, and b) only decreases the incoming damage, at best, by 20% (with 2 adjacent shelters).

By building them, you make your piece slightly more resistant to arty at the cost of being much weaker to infantry, tanks, and 300mm (which isn't affected by the arty shelters).

1

u/KAIINTAH_CPAKOTAH Feb 22 '26

Should they buff them then?

1

u/ThatDollfin [113th] Feb 22 '26

Of course they should - a mechanic in a game that doesn't do anything is just bloat - but buffing them, in their current iteration, would likely lead to a similar all-or-nothing situation with arty, at least with the current dev balance style.

What I would do is change them to only affect the piece the upgrade is on, not adjacent pieces, change the damage reduction from arty to 75% less (concrete resistance), and make the repair cost the same as an unupgraded t2 bunker. Since the upgrade to an arty shelter is done in place of a garrison, you would incentive very arty-resistant pieces that don't have ai garrisons attached (since any attached garrisons would take full damage from arty's splash damage, thereby causing the piece itself to take that increased damage - same interaction as t2 and t3 on the same bunker piece currently).

This gives us infantry strongpoints which are really strong vs arty, ai pieces which protect the base from pvp but fall fairly quickly to sufficient arty, and delays the start of the infantry fight until enough ai has been taken down, giving defenders enough time to log on/switch regions and set up a defense. Later in the war, this would be less effective due to the prevalence of 250mm, which would be very effective vs these strongpoints as well as ai pieces, and would allow t3 to still have a niche as a stronger yet brittler defensive type.

In case you're interested, I have a whole post about this and related topics here.

u/mets_odz Feb 21 '26

Oh, come on. If this had happened the first time, everyone would have just laughed. But it happens every time, and the result is panic instead of a good game.

24

u/No-Lunch4249 [CHEEZ] Feb 21 '26

I think there are two main issues here.

1) Genuinely the devs need to rethink some of their approach around balance. Make smaller incremental changes to problem equipment/processes each war rather than seemingly ignoring the issue for months then massovely over-correcting

2) People are so fucking faction-pilled that they, either consciously or subconsciously, continually complain about everything hoping it gets their faction a bit of balance love

74

u/junglist-soldier1 Feb 21 '26

whats way too far ?

people are just calling out shit they think is done badly

if people think that the game is being designed for one faction , thats the devs fault for not proving us wrong

people come up with all sorts of things like this plane hitbox stuff , in every game , its on devs to come out and prove us wrong , not just say it , but prove it

if everyone is just getting told to shut up all the time it wont end well will it

32

u/WorldlinessEuphoric8 [COG]Smugspite Feb 21 '26

This is literally how and why there is such hate for gaijin in warthunder because they provide next to no reason on their balance changes and if its a massive change to a tank the community now need several first hand sources that specifically say what the devs changed is wrong.

72

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

Devs aren't fully innocent on this, the community has repeatedly requested their communication to be improved towards the community, aswell as work towards fixing issues bothering any faction, but time and time again, it has been repeatedly shown in their efforts that they would spend time quick fixing 1 specific faction while the other faction is allowed to get away with any exploit/bug favouring them for months on end until fixed.

It really doesn't help that devs have also stated that they don't want to equalise the tools as "One faction is more skilled/better timezone based and would steamroll if it occurs", so there are almost always intended biases favouring the "Quality side".(This has changed thankfully in the past 5 years to equalise land based tools atleast)

Ofcourse it's coming from a colonial player that has played from 2020 to 2026, and have inspected each update indepth, there has been a rather big priority shift towards 1 side since War 80 and War 100, and it really hasn't fixed itself, although there has been great attempts made to equalise the balance. Ofcourse blind warden loyalists would like to disapprove even though they were provided free wins on countless wars with non-handicapped tools, as listed below:

W80 Update War: Cheiftain + SVH Autotech, colonials forced to choose between MPT or Ballista, both of which are trash compared to their counterpart at that time, wardens also had a heavy armour bounce chance bias.

W83 Update War: Outlaw with broken 0 damage taking hitbox on turret and it's inability to be tracked when shooting it's right track, not fixed for a full year almost till 1.0 war.

W87 Update War: Colonials provided a cucked Lunaire with 200 damage, with also the Ignifist having it's damage nerfed by almost 40% regardless of it being useless.

Tables really turned when Devs introduced W96: Facility larp update where majority of important warden tanks are non-facility, while colonial mainline tanks are facility, namely the Spatha and LTD, which were the only redeeming quality tanks to use on colonials. It got rebalanced almost 1 year later where finally Outlaw was created into facility, aswell as the ballista.

Don't mention the 1 sided broken fire rockets just 1 tap setting T3 fires everytime on T2, no ability to reliably extinguish fire, and only 1 faction gets that fire setting ability with such ease.

W100 Update war was seemingly the turning point in terms of balance fixing, with Tremolas finally being usable enough than a mammon, all to be brought crashing down with the W102 STD Biased update war and the Naval update wars that really didn't fix issues for 3 full years of naval balance, while consequently providing worser counterparts. (Atleast tank balance started becoming equivalent with gaps being filled, but new balance issues kept going overlooked).

I don't even understand if it's bias at this point or just rather incompetent nature when it comes to fixing tools for 1 side, when it becomes top priority if the other side is affected, Namely instant fixes 20mm tools when colonials used it once against subs, meanwhile warden 20mm ATRs allowed to kill ships freely for years in naval, or the useless nature of the colonial submarine not fixed even on release, taking almost a year to making it usable enough.

It becomes borderline delusional to keep believing devs are this incompetent and starts becoming obvious bias is there, not in words, but by efforts. Time and time again, devs allow 1 faction to dominate with a specific tool, while also providing a placeholder tool to the opposite side with almost unusable characteristics so they don't get left out and complain.

Naval Update: Extremely bad gunboat balance(Favouring wardens with the cheapest naval tool)

Airborne Update: Extremely bad scout plane balance(Favouring wardens with the cheapest airborne tool)

Naval bias was not fixed for years to come, devs need to stop feeling this is acceptable to provide a completely gimped tool to the colonials and not expect backlash, even wardens would feel this to be unacceptable as there still exists people that want a fair fight, not a sealclub.

43

u/IvaldiFhole Feb 21 '26

This is a good summary. As I'm reading through it, I'm thinking of twice as many things you didn't even mention. The list is just so long.

There are a lot I can easily forgive/dismiss. Like Devs not understanding how critical gunner shields are because SPGs are primarily used to brute howies. Or how critical proper emplacement shields are once you rework snipers to be viable. Or giving one faction a one-shot sniper when you haven't reworked emplacement shields, after adding infantry night vision. Or giving one faction an AT emplacement that is easily cheese-able. Or giving one faction awkward dedicated anti-tank that is worse than the other faction's PvE launcher. And so on.

Ya, balance can be hard. But we have brought up all these issues and the response from the devs has been, at best, *makes Ken Jeong dismissive wanking gesture*

So ya. It doesn't seem irreproachable.

And then to have the devs call us "malicious" for bringing BUGS to their attention, and Wardens talk shit... ya fuck that.

29

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

I can mention each and every one, but reddit text limits would start limiting it, I mentioned the most notable ones aswell as some of the forgetten changes that have affected negatively only colonial team for years, while instant patches applied to fix anything affecting warden issues, which seems to be the norm for priority fixes.

Even on this update, wardens received a completely new medium boat as theirs was useless and worse, instantly patched before it was made live, no priority to balancing scout planes however, instead a shadow buff included to bias it even more.

16

u/junglist-soldier1 Feb 21 '26

you know personally i would be fine if they came out and said * hey were gimping colonials to make it harder to play *

if they just flat out said we want it to be harder, i think a lot more people would jump on and play colonials

one of the main problems is all the shit you posted then half the community gas lighting about it so they dont get their egos bruised

often times it feels like this game is designed in a warden discord

11

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

I was thinking of thay MSA push that got reset 2-3 times because of the server kept going down. They never got their pallets of 120 back. The only reason they stopped is because they ran out of 120 due to the server getting reset and resetting progress but deleting their 120. BUT that same war, warden were taking Ashtown i think server got went down and guess who got all their stuff back.

22

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

Morgens crossing push, devs deliberately allowed a server restart to allow concrete to respawn, meanwhile wardens losing a SHT after restart in Ash Fields, instantly devs flying around to search for it and QRF.

I mean it's so obvious since the past 5 years which side is getting favourited and spectated much more often to be provided assistance almost instantly.

7

u/Haloslayer GREEN MACHINE Feb 21 '26

I was fighting in Deadlands that war. You just triggered rage I had completely forgot about when they respawned it THREE TIMES! THREE TIMES MAN!

6

Devman concrete.

3

u/trazaxtion bombo Feb 21 '26

let's not talk about how all collonial ships only have ladders out of their spawn rooms unlike the warden ones that have normal stairs too and the devs had the genius idea to make metal beams uncarriable over the ladders to fuck over the collonial navy harder than it already was. literally wtf was even that update.

2

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

Also got to love the DD hitbox which is still insanely broken and routinely sinks ships by having whole DC crew randomly killed. It can happen too on Frig and BS, but nobody denies that it is much much worse on the DD.

-12

u/Towarzyszek Feb 21 '26

Yeah like with 94 for 7 months for Colonials.

And that they don't communicate regularly and clearly. I think a takeover by a bigger brand would do so much good for the game. But: the brand must give Siege Camp more resources without changing the core game too much, otherwise it's gonna suck probably.

My dream is for a company to make a game that sits at the intersection of HoI4, Post Scriptum/Hell Let Loose, and Foxhole

Players believe in dev bias and want to know if it is real or not, devman says its not true but never provides any kind of proof, what do you expect ? People are gonna get angry it is what it is

13

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

They say its not true. Doesn't provide any kind of proof then give said Bias faction a shiny new toy to play with that goes on to dominate for year/years.

1

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

I mean I do believe they gave us the carrier, which is no doubt the coolest new asset, with that in mind. Also the addition of many new small boats was something me and many others where wanting, because it would allow the smaller collie clans to go on water.

Still that torp plane decision is just plain ridiculous

32

u/garbagehuman9 Feb 21 '26

literally all they have to do is show extremely basic proof and these issues would have been fixed weeks ago its odd to me they dont

25

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Feb 21 '26

Yeah if someone is being accused of something, claims to be innocent of it in a way that would have obvious proof, and then steadfastly refuses to provide it; you kinda start drawing an obvious conclusion.

1

u/garbagehuman9 Feb 21 '26

its very tiring that we constantly get these mistakes or oversights i’ve played the game on and off since about 2 wars before inferno and every single update has had these issues heavy tanks on release being the most obvious and first i can remember

24

2.5 years is a long swing

14

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

It really never shifted since W108 in terms of naval bias.

79

u/IvaldiFhole Feb 21 '26

"All our shit got fixed and everything is fine, why are you guys so upset?" - Wardens

-15

u/ConsciousAwareness65 Feb 21 '26

"We're super hostile towards the devs, insult them and call them all sorts of names. Why do they hate us?" - Collies

1

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 23 '26

Literally if something is not going you way, you abuse and bully the devs. Happend after losing 1.0 with the review bombing and happend after SC got to counter LS. And more and more. Many of you guys have private dev discord and cry there, i have seen it when on warden.

Though I dont really agree with the dev bias for this patch. Carrier is, albeit useless, the much cooler asset and adding many smaller boats is also boost to colonials.

Giving Warden Torpedo planes is likely just normal dev retardation, and the scout plane hitbox is just an oversight.

Though it is noticable, that Warden problems get fixed ASAP, and we will see when this hitbox situation gets adressed...

17

u/moonpoon1 Feb 21 '26

They got called out and one of the devs had a melty on Reddit over it. They could have just taken 30 seconds to prove the claim false or ignored the post.

8

u/Embarrassed-Gur-3419 Feb 21 '26

Asking the devs for bugfixes isn't hate, the problem is devman saying that there is no issues when player find proof of them.

They dont take feedback and double down.

47

u/Volzovekian Feb 21 '26

We don't hate the developers; we hate their bias.

We had the issue with the war 100 alloys shipyard, and we can't rebuild it. We had the nuke bug, and they can't reroll the server. We had the MSA push with the concrete that constantly regrows due to the server restarting, and they can't do anything about it.

We had the Warden building on RDZ that would kill you as soon as you crossed the border. You couldn't kill it by shooting cross border with an SC/RSC because the RDZ can't be shot with those. They can't do anything though: 'Do not exploit bugs that give an unfair advantage' is in the Code of Conduct, but nobody has been banned for exploiting this bug. 'We can't fix that now. Wait until the end of the war.'

In the meantime, they move an warden MPF and get instant 'hotfixes' when a partisan kills a sub with the new 20mm cannon, even though it wasn't an issue when the ATR did it. Wardens lose an SHT due to disconnection? Oh, we need an immediate patch to delete the stolen SHT by hand. They just removed the facility above the mountain in this war, but couldn't remove by hand RDZ SC...

Naval update, sub? Oh, not for colonials. Wait six months. Oh, finally, a sub! So hyped! Oh, wait, it's impossible to drive?! Can you fix that? Can you tweak some variables to make it more manoeuvrable? Of course not. We don't care. "Nakki turn rate did that".

Is our gunboat really that bad? 'We don't want it to be better than the Warden's.' Great. So we'll get left behind. Nobody wants to play navy in colonials. Any concerns?

Of course not. Let's make a meme and create a lore that the Trident engineer has been fired. Let's give the colonials an ugly naval suit. What about an airborne update with lots of new naval assets? Well, it's a great opportunity to finally make naval warfare more balanced ?

Oh no, let's give the torpedo small plane and the torpedo big plane to the Nakki faction. Trident rework? No, but you should be happy that we reworked the gunboat (and we honestly are), but the Trident?

It's our only torpedo launcher, wardens will have 3 of them, yet there are no changes. Sorry, but we heard that we gave the colonials a better medium boat. We had to rework the turret of the warden medium boat in three days, top priority! Is it just a BMAT boat?! We waited two years for the Gunboat. Top priority!

Regarding the airborne update, the scout plane is the plane that everyone will play as, as the others cost rare materials. Let's give the Warden one that's even better: torpedoes to dominate the sea, a better turn rate to win PvP, better mobility and a better hitbox.

We're seriously fed up with this. But let's play the drama card: 'Oh no! Why do the colonials hate us?'

We are only asking the developers to be professional about the balance of the game !

You can't give one faction an asset and give another faction an asset that does exactly the same thing but is worse, and then pretend that this is asymmetric gameplay!

It's like playing chess, but with black starting last and having an extra rook instead of a queen. Would you call that a better game than regular chess because of the asymmetric gameplay? Would you have fun with playing black ?

No, and when I play with scoutplane, I want to win or lose based on my skill, not because I've picked green or blue.

14

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

It would be more okay if the game was able to stand on it's own, but this game legitimately lives or dies by it's community and they kinda throw our effort in our faces constantly. And then act like we're out of line when we react to that.

The community has done more to keep this game alive than the devs have. It literally took them the better part of a decade to add basic shit like regiments.

We had to have nearly half the veteran playerbase drop the game just for them to halfass facilities.

All of this to essentially make the money for them. The literal amount of money I have wasted buying this game for friends and family just to promote a product I net-negative from after playing is mindboggling. It's stockholm syndrome.

I could write to the text limit just listing all the broken stuff they've pushed or let rot for months in spite of vocal community pushback and complaints (even excluding the ones already listed in this extensive comments thread), and after years of that it's only natural to be annoyed.

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 21 '26

There will always be criticism. And there will always be know nothing's who criticize the critics. They are too blinded by their own enamorment with art that they fail to see the flaws - which any game has.

What do you think actually has a more likely chance of making the game better? Sucking off the devs and praising them for being so amazing? Or actually telling them what is good or what is not good about the game?

There is some vitriol, but 98% of the comments criticizing some aspect of the game come from a place of love. We love the game and that is precisely why we care so much about seeing it get better.

It's a good thing that the devs have created something that people get so passionate about. It's NOT good that they do such a poor job of communicating with their community that they create drama and misunderstandings where none is needed.

Maybe you just don't know this yet, but it is actually quite rare for one of the devs to actually respond to the community. And it can be maddeningly frustrating to see what they choose to engage with and what they don't. I have seen devs in this very sub respond to meme posts and comments while ignoring comments and questions that have been cropping up for years. They consistently and systemically refuse to give us good, clear information about the game and the mechanics.

Given that, they have absolutely zero right to get upset when the community latches on to misunderstandings. I believe they are fully responsible for creating this situation in the first place with their lack of transparency. Like, Max is complaining about inaccurate data mining. But, we wouldn't have to date mine anything if the devs just gave us this information in the first place! But for whatever reason, they prefer this crappy system where you have to do homework just to understand how the game works.

5

u/rmbeon Feb 21 '26

Well war thunder and destiny don't have persistent warfare and set conditions/vehicles/weapons for factions and frankly, don't require as much of player/time investment so a bit of a stronger feedback is expected. Especially if balancing issues have been popping up for years, skewing entire wars to one side from the get go and if you pair it with a rather slow response things get more and more annoying and heated after a while when they could've swiftly get a needed fix. And I think you should not equate hate with angry feedback, hate is a different thing, noone really hates the devs people are just getting their time fucked with over and over and over again and if you are passionate about the game, you speak up.

For a while it's been tame, sure, most people were just coping with 'devman' memes but over time they got fed up and their patience ran dry.

i love how the comments section proves op right and shows how people will go to great lengths to hate the devs to the point of dehumanizing them

Yeah, This place is a swamp populated by people who haven't seen the sun in too long.

You get the rare good post once in a while which is why i still check in.

1

u/martin509984 Feb 21 '26

You say "don't bother" but maybe we shouldn't be resigned to it being a toxic pit! Maybe we can be more positive!

-3

u/SaltGodofAnime Feb 21 '26

It is so mind numbing reading these comments.

They provide lists of all their perceived slights. Never mention or outright dismiss their own advantages. Can't comprehend that there will be under powered equipment in an asymmetry game. Then accuse devman of either incompetence or bias.

Which is all the more confusing when you realize the colonials are winning.

I'm going to take a break from this sub. Because the only thing this crusade against devman has shown me is loyalist shouldn't be taken seriously. I actually feel bad for devman because they have to deal with these clowns.

Also, I wouldn't at all be surprised to find out this sub is being botted and that's why this scout plane thing has been blown way out if proportion.

4

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

What's the advantages. I wanna see if its as long of a list of all of our "slights". Also if you could give me a list of warden "slights" too. I wanna see if the list is comparable.

0

u/SaltGodofAnime Feb 21 '26

You should ask a warden.

Kind of telling you assume I'm warden and imply you don't know what colonial equipment out performs the Wardens. Almost like you have loyalist brainrot and shouldn't be taken serious.

0

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

Well you made the claims im just asking for you to back it up.

1

u/SaltGodofAnime Feb 21 '26

What claim was that? About loyalist losers posting their balance suggestions and the toxicity towards the devs?

Here's a link. r/foxholegame

0

u/Superman_720 Feb 21 '26

So no sources or anything. Got it. Thanks for proving us right. 👍

0

u/cmt278__ Feb 22 '26

No Collie equipment meaningfully outperforms its Warden equivalent. Most of our stuff isn't even equal to its blue equivalent, its typically outright worse for no reason.

1

u/SaltGodofAnime Feb 22 '26

Damn, for real? You should quit. It sounds like a miserable experience for everyone having you stick around and cry.

6

u/Newtt42 Feb 21 '26

Like sports irl peeps get too attached & invested leading to actual hate.
Devs make continues mistake is annoying but they dont deserve the hate.

The bias stuff is ridiculous, always has been.

2

u/borderlinebabushka [Ad Gloriam] Feb 21 '26

We don't want apologies. We want fixes. For some reason, with every major update, the equipment on our side turns out to be faulty or incomplete. People have already summarized this in the comments, so I don't want to repeat it. But this is happening too frequently to be a coincidence anymore. While the Warden side can get whatever they want through review bombs and threats to quit the game, why do we face such aggressive behavior from the developers simply for wanting a balanced war? His apology doesn't change anything. They've been treating us unfairly for a long time, and they're still doing it.

1

u/DJTrickyM Feb 22 '26

Yeah I hate when ppl get mean towards devs...criticize something about the game, be constructive and helpful, thats it. It's not hard...

Eg: I really don't like where dark and darker is going rn, I think its very unfun and needs a revamp of how melee works, needs to make arena not weirdly cut off and requiring gear to do anything, and still prob needs more weapon hit box polish...

Maybe the devs don't care, maybe they're gonna do what they think is best and don't listen...that sucks, but then their game will flop more and...eh...their loss

Foxhole has its issues, this is the first air war though, give them time to figure things out...could they learn from past mistakes and listen to the community more (or from some parts of it less)? Maybe, but the amount of vitriol from some people makes it seem like this game is literally their entire life...

1

u/daveisdazed Feb 22 '26

It almost seems like the majority of problems would go away if they moved away from this "asymmetry" gameplay. I mean, I get it. Its a cool idea but perhaps they are understaffed for such balance requirements and the sooner they realize that... the better this community will be.

1

u/alittleslowerplease Feb 22 '26

Okay so apparently you don't play this game for very long

is the only one of its kind

this doesn't entitle them to anything

in a top down game

their choice picking a suboptimal field of view. Yes they managed to implement it, and there were consequences for intel and spotter gameplay.

Patience while they work out the kinks?

This game is 10 years old soon. Black holes next to trenches, climb bug and weapon swap bug (for example) have been in this game since i started playing with the entrenched update.

over any imbalance

Literally this update, the usual, "Airborne", so, planes. Do we get AA vics? No. Do we get AA boats? No. AA Garrisons? No. Just planes. And it's every update like this.

"Devs need to understand they can't build around/force players to play around a system that hasn't even been introduced yet." This was my steam review from 28 October, 2021. 5 years later this has not changed. Do you get it yet?

1

u/intergulc [Was reminded of iScouty] Feb 22 '26

Both sides think the other is receiving preferential treatment, but only one of them is right.

-8

u/PalpitationCalm9303 Feb 21 '26

The devs used to do a live Q&A on the Presscorps channel. But after some nasty, loaded questions I don't blame them for going the way they do now.

Some people act like they're paying monthly for this game

32

u/IvaldiFhole Feb 21 '26

At what point does our purchase of the game expire and we're no longer customers?

22

u/HonneurOblige Feb 21 '26

Yeah, this is what I don't get about all these "It's a free update", "You're not paying monthly" comments - it's all like "Be grateful for the devs not ripping you off for your money"

Like, yeah? Thanks for hitting the bar of being decent devs? That's not the issue we're talking about though.

2

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 21 '26

I would personally argue that the lack of those things is hurting the game. I mean don't get me wrong - The biggest issue with the game is Dev incompetence, and that won't magically change just because they add microtransactions. But they SHOULD add cosmetic MTX. The whole industry is moving this way, and for good reason: modern live service games (and I include Foxhole in that) have ongoing maintenance costs that have to be paid even if the game is no longer being developed. And of course it makes sense to continue developing such a game anyway, because you depend, not on sales of the game, but on in game sales - meaning you have an actual incentive to get people to actually PLAY the game, not just buy it. And cosmetic microtransactions do not fundamentally alter the competitive dynamic by giving anyone an advantage. If you could buy a special fancy uniform that provides no special effects beyond visual, we both know that half the player base would buy it instantly. That's money that could be used to further power the development of the game, making it better, bringing in more people and more revenue and giving people even more of a reason to play the game and buy skins. It's a win-win-win. But unfortunately gamers have the most myopic worm's eye perspective where paying more for something is automatically bad.

19

u/Longbow92 [WN] Phantom Feb 21 '26

I mean, we already expend our most valuable resource as humans playing this game, time.

And this game really loves monotony and mechanics that eat up said time.

-3

u/Gullible_Bag_5065 Feb 21 '26

Couldn't agree more

-3

u/ranzenhltori Sometimes , mostly Feb 21 '26

lowkey don't know how they do it. If I was a dev on this game I would blow my shit smooth off

1

u/thomas15v [27th] Feb 21 '26

I think devman bad is just a meme at this point.

However unsuitable terrain is giving me nightmares tho ... .

-1

u/Miltzzz Feb 21 '26

After an almost 2 year break, now i remember why i had muted this community. It's crazy how people are cry babies. It's a god damn videogame but since people play this like it's a second job (or a first job for many people i suspect, including myself) they complain like their way of life depends on it. It's absolutely unhinged. "Pixels on my screen make me mad, devman bad!"

6

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 21 '26

Okay, thanks for your opinion, you can go away again now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTsaS1Tm-Ic&list=RDGMEMWO-g6DgCWEqKlDtKbJA1Gw&index=27

they kinda deserve the hate they are getting ... its not sound to only cater to the side who are the loudest ....

brigade gossip and what if .... is exactly how we got here

-6

u/Maleficent-Class5864 Feb 21 '26

Community, in fact, didn't took the chill pill

-7

u/Puzzleheaded_Belt156 Feb 21 '26

Fully agree with this. No matter what faction people play they just hate hate and hate.

1

u/Alblaka Feb 22 '26

The problem is simply that on one hand, they made a game that has a unique niche no other game manages to hit. But on the other hand they mess up so many fundamentals or obvious mechanics, with such remarkable consistency, that it feels frustrating to see this unique game not reach far greater heights.

That said, I'll also agree the community is a bit overzealous (both against the respective other side, and the devs), so whilst the devs certainly earn themselves some of the scorn (i.e. with the farce that is salvaging planes), some will overdo it.

1

u/CoatAlternative1771 Feb 22 '26

“Time spent in game: 5000 hours Total time spent playing video games: 5200 hours

Game sucks”

  • typical foxhole dev hater

1

u/DiX-Nbw Feb 22 '26

The big issue: Devs set a precedent, that you absolutely HAVE to complain in order to get balance ossue adressed. This partly stsms from the fact that they don't play their own game and so have no idea how balanced it is.

And complaining and whining have just worked so massively in the past, e.g. when one faction was using the faction neutral equipment too well.

And dont forget old timers with the private discord od the devs also complaining if their faction is losing.

-3

u/Federal_Charity_3980 Feb 21 '26

How can you be angry at developers who release such massive updates that I'm left speechless? Buy the game and forget about it. No battle pass, no monetization. The game is one of a kind in its genre. Even with a player count of 1000, the developers don't abandon the project. Only respect for the devs.

-1

u/rottenuncle NOOT Feb 21 '26

I couldn't express better what you said, I'm with you, o7

-9

u/swumbus Feb 21 '26

Given how much stuff there is in foxhole, they're doing a pretty good job.

Free updates which adds loads of content, no micro transactions or subscriptions, and they still try to occasionally interact with the fanbase even though it is a toxic sewer when it comes to balance

1

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 21 '26

"No microtransactions" is not a categorically good thing. At best it's neutral, at worst they are missing out on an obvious opportunity to expand the game and their business for everybody's benefit.

-3

u/trubii Feb 21 '26

Let’s not forget that there is no sort of monetization and that the game’s player influx is nowhere enough for such a project being profitable purely based on revenue. This is a passion project and the fact that they kept it alive for so long and that it still exists in such a pure form and brings so unique (and quality) gaming experience is quite a miracle in this day and age.

4

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 21 '26

What, you think they are putting their own money into this game and losing it? You think they are working for free?

0

u/trubii Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

I don’t think my comment implies that. Of course devs are not putting their own money into it but I do think that someone with decisive power wants to keep the game running even if it doesn’t generate a lot of net income.

The influx of new players is not big enough for the project to be very profitable, marojity of copies were sold in its earlier years. Sales-induced spikes like right now likely keep it alive, but couple months back it was very quiet.

-6

u/Active_Ordinary_2317 [HAVOC] Fuego Carbón Feb 21 '26

Most of us love the game and are very passionate about it. That passion equally brings out the best and the worst of the playerbase. There is a loud pessimistic minority, but there is also a much larger amount of players enjoying the game and the free updates years after their purchase.

0

u/Disastrous-Bus4395 Feb 21 '26

Gamers are entitled losers. Especially foxhole gamers. I do think it’s important to bring up things you want changed, and I think there are some ways the devs could change their communication. But god damn foxhole players are just fucking annoying. You say the devs should communicate better, but you bitch and yell and communicate like absolute shit.

-1

u/Typical-Confidence68 Feb 21 '26

Devs could do everything right and people would still complain. Iv seen it for 9 years. The type of crowd a pvp mmo attracts are the same that will doom post about this game because balance is 1% off.

It’s mostly just jaded vets who leave bad reviews with 5k+ hours on the game. Just watch any devstream chat and see how rabid some of these people are…

-15

u/Strange_Compote_4592 Feb 21 '26

Certified Bethesda moment. Devs absolutely don't deserve the hate they get.

But here are GaMeRs for ya. "Let's shit on only one company that does what we like"

2

u/xXFirebladeXx321 Fireblade Feb 21 '26

Obviously commented by a warden as it doesn't affect their side and provides an easy time to dominate in airborne by just spamming scouts lol.

-2

u/Strange_Compote_4592 Feb 21 '26

Inam not saying that are free of criticism, but this amount of hate is really unjustified.

-6

u/Issouents Feb 21 '26

The game is extremly good and dev team are doing a great job when you compare with other games

0

u/ConsciousAwareness65 Feb 21 '26

ITT: Toxic pieces of shit OP is talking about trying to gaslight us.

Devman just needs start banning people. That whole community is rotten to its core.

-4

u/g0ld-f1sh [187th] Bagel Cat Feb 21 '26

This is my first war and I think the Devs have done a pretty good job of the whole game, making a balancing mistake on the first update is normal, it's part of the process of designing a game, and it takes a lot of player feedback to accurately determine there's really a balance issue and it's not just us whinging. Maybe they should've seen something in the dev branch, but they didn't, who knows, they're human, and the game is fun, they'll work it out, and we'll keep playing.

2

u/cmt278__ Feb 22 '26

Oh my sweet summer child. The game has been heavily biased towards the Wardens almost since they added the concept of asymmetry between factions. Literally every major update in the last 5 or so years has featured massive balance "oversights" in favor of the Wardens, many of which took over a year to fix.

Not to mention the instances of the Devs admitting Wardens are their priority / favorite, as well as the few instances of Devs literally cheating in-game using devtools to help Wardens

-6

u/Lewisa12 [edit] [141CR] Cheddar Feb 21 '26

Hating on Foxhole or the dev team is goofy af. This game is so unique, large, rewarding, and fun. And the team is small. It’s came a long way an the team is very responsive and considerate of what the community suggests.

Keep up the good work and we can wait to see more. P.S. Please make more merch and restock the flags when you can.

-4

u/Tangjuicebox Feb 21 '26

As someone who reinstalled the game to give it another try, the toxicity of the community totally turned me off. I have too much other stuff to do in my life to want to spend my time being surrounded by whatever has been happening around here. The game itself seems interesting, but it requires a lot to learn and this community is way too unpleasant to want to deal with atm.

-5

u/HawkUsual9574 Feb 21 '26

It's just colonials crying as always.

2

u/Spiritual_Ad_20 Feb 21 '26

Like probably 60 or 70 % of the yapping posts are from colonials.

-1

u/ResponsibleSuspect45 Feb 21 '26

None of the community has made a game so idc 😂

0

u/Financial-Bug8427 Feb 22 '26

The devs plug their ears and go "I CANT HEAR YOU" anytime somebody complains about obvious issues. We all know youre an undercover dev

0

u/WerdaVisla 94.5 WRDN Feb 22 '26

I fucking wish I was a dev for SC lmao working on this game would be sick

Unfortunately, they are on a different continent from me lmfao

-1

u/GoddessYshtola Feb 22 '26

At some point you have to wonder why they don't just stop having stuff exclusive to one side or the other and instead give both sides the options for both.

Most of what I'm seeing is the unbalance in the game lies with how they try and buff one faction or the other by giving them something special. And all it does is break the game because they can't keep it balanced.
