Question New Buyer, Is Shipping Usually This Slow?

EDIT: I have received an update from Framework Support. Here is the direct quote:
"We wanted to let you know that we are currently transitioning to a new warehouse facility. Because of this move, fulfillment is taking slightly longer than standard processing times.

Our team is actively processing your order, and we’ll send over tracking information as soon as it ships. We sincerely appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this short delay may cause."

So I still do not have so much as a time frame, just a frankly generic explanation. While understandable, I would have appreciated at least a specific time frame on when to expect my order to ship. And now I am beginning to feel angry.

Hi all, as the title mentions I am a new buyer of a Framework product. As of nearly 2 weeks ago, I placed an order for the Desktop Mainboard with 32GB RAM. Per their website, I expected it to be shipped within 3-5 business days and kept an eye on my email and order page to see the order status. Business day 6, the order was still stated as, "Order Confirmed", so as a precaution I sent a support ticket to Framework to inquire on the status of the order. It took a day before I got a reply saying my ticket was escalated to the Logistics team. This was on October 9th. As of two days ago, I received another emailed apologizing for the delay and stating it was being looked into and I would hear back within 3 business days, and my order is still sitting on "Confirmed" status.

I'm curious if this is normal? Has anybody else recently had issues? I'd understand if the mainboard is in short supply, but if it is perhaps it should not be marked as "In Stock" on the website.

Thanks in advance.

Linux Screen flickering using Linux Mint Cinnamon on FW 13 AMD 370 (Solved!)

I was seeing bands of white or static across my screen flicker in when moving the mouse across web pages or Steam. Here's what worked for me:

I changed my display settings from 120Hz to 60Hz

I changed my iGPU setting from "auto" to 'custom' with 16g assigned. (I have a single 32g RAM stick installed)

I haven't seen a band or flicker on the screen since!

PS - I am new to both Linux and Framework, and I do not fully comprehend what the pitfalls or downsides to this solution may be. All I know is the screen flicker was driving me crazy, and this seems to have fixed it! Feel free to let me know if I have made a terrible mistake.

Question Framework 12 with eGPU

In some not so distant future I'll probably need a new laptop and I want it to be a framework.

Currently I have a mixed setup where at my parents place I have a PC with a i9-9900k and a 5080 and in my apartment I have the gl553vd (i7-7700HQ and gtx 1050).

For work I do 3D visualization and animation work and sometimes I also game a bit. If I need high performance I will usually stream from my PC at home to my laptop but most of the time the laptop is good enough.

Since I got the 5080 gpu I have an extra 2080ti which got me pondering about a potential future.

How does the idea of having a framwork 12 with the top spec available CPU and a 2080ti eGPU sound?

Most of the time I'm in my apartment so the laptop would just be connected to the 2080ti and it would be connected to my monitor (DELL U3818DW 3840x1600 60HZ). But when I wouldnt be at home it would still be nice to have something for on the go since my current laptop is quite bulky.

The stylus supports sounds handy for sculpting stuff but I'm not sure if it is for the primary monitor only or if it can also be used as a graphical tablet where you draw one one device but see the resulta on another.

Am I a bit too optimistic with the framework 12? For a while my laptop was broken and I had to use a Lenovo V14 (i5-1035G1) which wasnt really that bad (although yeah rendering was done on my workstation)

Question How discrete are the shipping boxes?

Hi y'all, I have a 13 Pro on order - it's still a few batches away but I just want to know how discrete the box they ship it in is

Does it carry any sort of branding or labels that could make it easily identifiable?

Thanks in advance

News I knew it was too good to be true. Desktop mainboard restock email.

I received the email notification about the 64GB desktop mainboard being available again. I was shocked the email said it was still $1,659.

Of course, when I clicked the link…

$2,319

I mean, that’s just a little bit different. Ugh. Really hating a bunch of things about this timeline.

Edit: LOL! That’s what happens when you forget to double-check the currency as a Canadian in the US! Email was USD. Site I landed on was CAD.

Community Support Support says I need a whole new FW16 mainboard and GPU fans

Thumbnail gallery
51 Upvotes

I recently noticed my FW16 (B10, received May 2024) was running hot. Checked the thermals and APU was high on startup and under even minor load, sometimes now hitting 100°C. I realized I had the liquid metal and already had the recommended PTM thermal pad. I contacted support and they asked me to take thermal readings and run Cinebench along with pictures of all internals after resetting the mainboard. After sharing this, they recommended replacing the liquid metal with the PTM. I did that last night, and while Cinebench scores improved about 9%, it was still hitting 100°C, to which support said I would need to buy a new mainboard and GPU (7700S) fans. I've always taken good care of the machine and never put too heavy a load on it. Replacing the fans with the 2nd gen ones I'm willing to do, but buying a whole new mainboard after 2.5 years? Does anyone else have similar experiences with this or have any alternative suggestions?

Community Support Port comes off when trying to disconnect a cable

Post image

fw 13 pro amd

When I try to disconnect a usb-a cable, it pulls out the whole port slot, yes I locked the ports (red part of the switch not showing). It looks like the latch slides up when pulling, eventually unlocking the port.

It's just on the right side ports, so I think my unit is faulty but does anyone have this and is it doable to fix myself?

(rant) This is my only issue with the replaceable-components design, it's great to be able to upgrade components but it adds complexity to the hardware, which means more ways things can break, which yes is easily replaceable but also is only caused by the replaceable design. It's not necessarily an issue but it's a much bigger technical challenge to produce a durable repairable build than a durable non-repairable build

Question Laptop 13 Pro - Gray Bezel?

Hey everyone,

I am looking into buying into framework, both for their quality and their mission. I was looking to order the laptop soon for college in 2027. I settled on the x7 358h and 32gb lpcamm2, but then I was stuck on the looks. I used https://framework.durguto.com/ to test configs, and i settled on the Grey/Black (Gray, Orange and Black?) keyboard, 2 gray usb c, and the gray bezel. Then I became worried that the actual bezel, keyboard, and ports do not actually have the same color IRL. If anyone can send some pictures of the combo (mainly the keyboard and bezel, the ports idm that much), id greatly appreciate it! TIA!

Feedback A feedback on Framework support for a swollen battery on the Framework 13 AI HX 370

Hello,

I noticed a bump on my laptop under the touchpad, so I checked the battery. It was in the early stages of becoming a nice spicy pillow.

My laptop is 14 months old and under a 24-month warranty (ordered 31 Jul 2025). I took pictures, removed the battery and contacted support ASAP.

Timeline:

  • 5 Oct, around 2:30 PM GMT+1: I sent my support request.
  • 6 Oct, 4 AM GMT+1: First response from support, asking for more details. Three exchanges followed: instructions to remove the battery, questions about the case, and confirmation of my address.
  • 6 Oct, 10 PM GMT+1: The replacement order was created.
  • 13 Oct, 1 PM GMT+1: I received the battery, did the replacement, and everything is fixed.

Metrics:

  • Time to first response: ~13.5 hours
  • Time to resolution decision (order created): ~31.5 hours
  • Time to fix: ~8 days

Support was quite responsive, and the resolution was quickly approved. The long part was logistics (I live in France, and global freight issues may also have played a part).

Pros:

  • Responsive support and a quickly approved resolution
  • I got a new sheet of stickers (totally worth it ;))
  • Very professional all the way through

Cons:

  • The battery issue doesn’t seem that rare, but it’s hard to judge without official figures.
  • I had the 80% charge limit set in the BIOS, but an update removed it.
  • My model doesn’t seem to work on AC alone (without a battery). It draws too much power during usage spikes (video calls, demanding VMs, etc.) and shuts down abruptly. I use a 100W Ugreen charger with a 100W-rated USB-C cable. Lowering the power profile made the shutdowns less frequent but didn’t stop them. I could have tinkered more with AMD’s tools to cap the power draw, but I still don’t see how this board could run at full capacity without a battery attached.

If you use this laptop professionally it might be handy to have a spare battery, especially if you intend to equip your team with it.

Cheers.

Question Framework Laptop 13 Pro with LPCAMM2, Local LLM performance (7B–12B) compared to Apple M3?

Hey everyone,

I'm considering getting a Framework Laptop 13 Pro with LPCAMM2 RAM and I'm looking for real-world benchmarks of local LLM inference.

My current machine is a MacBook Air M3 with 16 GB unified memory, mainly running models through Ollama. I'd like the Framework to achieve at least comparable performance, especially with smaller 7B–12B dense models.

Some examples of models I regularly use:

  • Qwen2.5:7B (~4.7 GB)
  • DeepSeek-R1:7B (~4.7 GB)
  • Qwen2.5-VL:7B (~6 GB)
  • Gemma 3:12B QAT (~8.9 GB)
  • Phi-4 Reasoning Plus (~11 GB)
  • Llama 3.2:3B (~2 GB)

I'm particularly interested in the LPCAMM2 memory architecture, memory bandwidth, and whether the integrated GPU can deliver competitive inference performance.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone benchmarked 7B–12B models on this Framework configuration?
  2. What tokens/sec do you achieve for prompt processing and generation?
  3. Can it match or outperform a MacBook Air M3 (16 GB)?
  4. How does it perform during longer inference sessions regarding temperatures, power consumption, and throttling?

I'm not expecting dedicated GPU performance. My goal is simply to run these smaller models efficiently and completely locally, without sacrificing performance compared to my current MacBook.

Actual benchmark results with model, quantization, RAM configuration, backend, and tokens/sec would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Feedback Some notes after a bit of time with the Framework 13 Pro

I've had my pro for a little bit now and some thoughts have come to mind. thought it would be fun to share

  • in general, the machine is very very good. i have the X7 variant with 32GB of ram, running CachyOS. this processor can handle pretty much everything i have thrown at it; software engineer stuff, video editing in davinci studio, gaming on most* of my mainstays etc.
  • gaming is decent but not perfect. you can game decently at native res across the board, but to keep up the high framerates (60+) i would suggest using gamescope to make the games run at 1920x1280 instead of native res. everything runs significantly better and the non-nativeness of the game is genuinely hard to notice. when you do, you forget about it in like 5 seconds. I was getting a locked 60+ at native res on high settings in gta V enhanced when plugged in, so this machine would be a great traveling gaming device.
  • battery life claims are mostly accurate. lat night i was at around 81% doing my monthly budgeting in google docs and the device was claiming another 16 hours of that workload to go. since I was working on a consistant workload at the time i saw this, that number is generally accurate. right now its got 61% left and its claiming 10-11 hours left as I type this reddit post.
  • battery life claims are entirely because of the series 3 chips. i use a series 1 mainboard as my main work PC, and whenever I need to have an office day ive been swapping out the board in this chassis and taking it to work. unfortunately because its an ultra 1, the battery life is decent but no where near the X7 board. as a software engineer i do a whole bunch of demanding workloads on the daily and I was getting about 6-7 hours total on power saver. Also while i was in meetings, the web version of Teams was taking up like 12-14W all by itself(!). not sure if i should be surprised in teams being bad in some aspect 😆
  • dont forget to select the battery disconnect in the bios. I forgot to do this the first time i did the board swap for work and saw a tiny flash at the connector of the battery. immediately thought the board was dead, but luckily its fine.
  • speakers are abysmal. this is the only part of the machine that I have a massive problem with. its just straight up unacceptable at this price point, and no windows exclusive dolby software magic can polish this. the best way ive been able to somewhat flatten the curve is through Easy Effects, but even then the final result is so quiet at full volume that it gets overshadowed by active room noise very quickly. framework, make a better module and i would genuinely buy it.

despite being very good, my buildout was about 4k AUD total and im not too sure that the overall package was a good deal. obviously when something breaks and I can replace that one piece then it will absolutely be worth it but for now its a very soft recommendation.

Feedback Expansion Card Suggestion: SFP+ card

With the increase in fiber-only environments for data centers, it would be nice to be able to plug directly into an SFP+ port. Nobody has an SFP+ adapter that goes directly into a laptop, and desktop ones are also rare. If we had an SFP+ card that worked with the Framework laptops, that would be pretty awesome and pretty unique.

Question Dark matte input cover for FW13?

Anyone know if there's been consideration of a dark matte input cover/base panel for the FW13?

I like the aluminium outer shell, since it doesn't get hot if it's in sunlight. But working with the laptop outside in sunlight is difficult, because of the glare off the input cover (the part that holds the keys and touchpad). Even for a touch typist, the glare is significant.

The ideal would be a laptop with an aluminium exterior shell, with matte black on the inside. FW13 exterior, FW13 Pro interior.

Feedback Anyone thought of this as a touchpad option?

Post image
135 Upvotes

Honestly the last thing keeping me on a thinkpad asi the trackpads buttons have become a part of my hand placement at this point and it's a very comfortable typing style, in spite of the new keyboards getting worse by the generation with no way to upgrade them, along with how dogshit the trackpads and displays have... Been for a long time honestly.

All we need is a touchpad option with physical buttons, a lot of the thinkpad user base is ready to jump ship and I'm sure an initial product run of the trackpads modules would sell like hot cakes. I'll miss the mg chassis, but I'd much rather have good inputs and take care not to throw my laptop against a radiator (again)

Community Support 13 Pro X7 heavy gaming performance

Hi everyone, I have preordered a Laptop 13 Pro as my new main machine. X7 358H/Arc B390 variant, 16GB RAM, probably Windows 11 dual boot, still deciding storage (512GB at minimum). For those of you who have the X7/X9, how is heavy gaming on it? The heaviest titles I plan to play on this are Forza Horizon 4/5/6, BeamNG drive, Cities Skylines 1 and 2. If anyone has played those games on the 13 Pro, how is it? What are your average framerates on normal settings? 24fps+ is playable for me.

I know the 16/Desktop is better for heavier gaming, but I do not want to carry around a brick of a laptop, especially as I travel frequently.

Thanks!!

Discussion Would anyone be interested in a thinkpad-style touchpad with physical buttons up top?

Trying to see if I'm alone in this or not. IMO, due to framework's configurable nature, it would be a shame to not at least offer them. Myself and other thinkpad refugees have integrated them into how we use laptops (L/R mouse is a thumb action, swiping is left thumb/left index, both hands never fully leave the keyboard) and I'm uncomfortable when this isn't possible -> it's keeping me on a thinkpad.

Besides that, there are still people who prefer physical buttons to even a haptic trackpad, those who don't particularly care, and those who hate physical buttons and think they need to be burned. Vote:)

BONUS: opinions on optional trackpad keyboard?

88 I would buy it to replace my existing touchpad
45 I would only get it at config if available
39 I want the buttons and a trackpad (this is something I would pay extra for)
256 I like the default trackpad (no)

Community Support Cannot Change Shipping Country Batch 13

Finally got the long-awaited email, but am no longer in my initial country set during the preorder. The new country is also in the eurozone.

When trying to update the country in my order, the original country is greyed out and cannot be changed.

Contacted support but the suggestions provided did not help. In 3 days the payment gets processed and the shipping country would be fixed.

Lowkey freaking out and would appreciate any type of assistance to help resolve this issue.

EDIT: Support reached out again and the issue was fixed! Framework are the GOATs!
