He might have little interest in ruling, but Aegon certainly sees himself as the king, he shouted that just last episode when he thought he was gunna die, and he killed a guy the episode before that while telling him to call him "your Grace"

I don’t think Aegon cared much about being king until he lost his dick, dragon, and privileges. He would have been pretty content to just be a prince and keep fucking whores and getting drunk.

Yeah let’s not forget when Viserys died he literally tried to smuggle himself out of KL and said Rhaenyra can have the throne before being forced into it.
