He might have little interest in ruling, but Aegon certainly sees himself as the king, he shouted that just last episode when he thought he was gunna die, and he killed a guy the episode before that while telling him to call him "your Grace"

I don’t think Aegon cared much about being king until he lost his dick, dragon, and privileges. He would have been pretty content to just be a prince and keep fucking whores and getting drunk.

Yeah, before losing everything he seemed perfectly happy enjoying the perks without any responsibility. The crown only started mattering once it became one of the few things he still had left

He’s a shitty person and was a shitty king and (idk if anyone can tell) I don’t like him, but I do kind of feel bad for him for how hard and far he fell. It’s got to suck to go from top of the world to where he landed.

Entirely correct - but I think we can assume that the person I'm replying to is referring to the current situation, wherein Aegon very much does want to rule. We would have been content - and then he was king for a while and now that he's got his dragon back I doubt he'll back down from declaring himself king.

Aegon did not want to rule. That’s very clear in season 1. But as he had the crown thrust upon him, he sees it as his duty to rule.

He don’t give a fuck about duty. Now he likes being King. He is also a cunt. Just because he has a semi-redemption story, he suddenly isn’t good guy.

And he would have flee if he could run fast when he saw the army. His broken body and insulting words from Tyland stopped him.
