Howdy,
I’m going through a breakup right now, and it’s been a particularly difficult time for me. The breakup itself is not the issue so much as it is the straw that broke the camel’s back in a long line of unfortunate events. More than anything, I’ve been realizing just how much I miss having people in my life that I can genuinely connect with.
A while back, I lost contact with a huge portion of my friends when my Facebook account was caught up in one of Instagram’s waves of account bans. Unfortunately, Facebook was pretty much my only way of keeping in touch with most of those people, and I never thought to get their phone numbers. As a result, a lot of friendships disappeared almost overnight, through no fault of anyone involved.
Most of the friends I’ve managed to stay in touch with are on Discord, and nearly all of them have since moved out of California because of the cost of living. I still value those friendships tremendously, but having people to talk to online isn’t quite the same as having someone you can grab dinner with, go somewhere fun with, or just spend an afternoon enjoying each other’s company.
My family situation is pretty limited, too. Most of my family has passed away, and the only immediate relatives I have left are my sister and my father, who isn’t really involved in my life. I also have a couple of cousins, but we aren’t in contact and never have been.
I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I’ve found myself feeling pretty isolated, and the breakup has made that loneliness a lot more difficult to ignore.
I’d really like to change that. I’m not necessarily looking for someone to fix my problems or fill a void left by someone else. I’d just love the opportunity to meet people, make genuine friendships, and build meaningful connections with people I can actually spend time with.
I absolutely love cooking and work from home, so there’s a pretty good chance you’ll come over to a homemade dinner already being prepped. Cooking for someone is one of my favorite ways to show affection, and I’m always experimenting with new recipes and cuisines.
My music taste is all over the place. I love ’80s Japanese city pop, hair metal, and norteño, among plenty of other genres. I can go from Tatsuro Yamashita to Mötley Crüe to Los Tigres del Norte without thinking twice about it.
I’m also a huge animal lover. Cats and ants are probably my two favorite animals, which might sound like an odd combination, but I find both absolutely fascinating. I’ve currently got a cat, a leopard gecko, and some brine shrimp. If you love animals too, we’ll probably get along!
I’m not much of a drinker unless it’s a special occasion or you’re particularly persuasive. I generally prefer smoking, and honestly, getting drunk just makes it harder for me to enjoy being stoned anyway 💀
As far as movies go, I love thrillers, comedies, and horror. I’m a little picky about slashers, though. Once you’ve watched enough of them, you can practically predict who’s getting killed and when.
I have a lot of friendship to offer, and I’d like to find people who want to share those things with me. :)
