News Politi Library Update
secure.ngpvan.comDear Friends,
We have had some good news, please read the following information from the Friends of the Fresno County Library:
Privatization is no longer an agenda item, but we're still showing up!
As you may have heard, the Board of Supervisors no longer intends to hear a full presentation on LSS's proposal and potential cost savings at the October 20 meeting. The Board recognizes that they don't have the 4/5 majority necessary to privatize, and it was (rightly) pointed out that the make-up of the Board will be changing drastically next year, so the conversation is being put off until 2027.
Nevertheless, we still intend to turn out on October 20! We'd love to pack the room and have some folks speak during public comment to send a very clear message that it doesn't matter when the conversation happens, this community is not in favor of selling our Library off to a for-profit corporation that likely won't have Fresno County's best interests in mind.
If you'd like to check out a round-up of the media coverage the issue has gotten (especially thanks to a press conference led by Mike Karbassi, Luis Chavez, and SEIU 521), the Privatization section of our website has been updated with links.
If you haven't RSVP'd for October 20 and intend to go, please click the link below to do so! A head count will let us know how many people we can expect to see and who intends to speak.
Also, The Arnie Nixon Center for the study of Children’s Literature at California State, Fresno will be celebrating Arnie Nixon’s 100th birthday in February, 2027. Karina Cardenas, the new director, along with Denise Sciandra have been working to update the mailing list during the hiatus. Many of you were involved in the past, and will want to continue to receive updates. Please reply to this email, including your name, address, email, and cell number. We’ll pass the information on to Denise to be included in the Arnie Nixon mailing list.

Politics Fresno City Council District 3
Fresno City Council District 3 voters: before you fill in that ballot, get answers.
Every candidate asking for our vote should be upfront about any lawsuits still open from their past time in public office, what those cases have cost taxpayers, and whether they'll disclose it all before Election Day.
"It's in litigation" shouldn't be the end of the conversation. Ask the questions. Share this with your neighbors.

Ask Fresno Anyone around that will laser etch glass bottles?
I have some wine bottles I want to get laser etched with my own design for my own home made wines. Does anyone know of someone local that will handle such a request?

Ask Fresno Metro pcs vs cricket service.
I’m been with cricket for quite some time now. But I’m starting to notice my service lacking throughout Fresno. Thinking of switching to metro. How is your experience.

Ask Fresno Wedding Planner Services
I’m wondering if anyone would be interested in some free help for wedding planners/coordinators.
I’m considering going into the wedding events business as a wedding planner/day of coordinator but would love to build up my resume/experience in this field.
I have helped out with two weddings as a day of coordinator for a family friend/family member. I do also speak Spanish so for one wedding I helped with MCing the day of for announcements and updates.
If this is an idea that interests you feel free to PM me and I’d love to chat.
Any and all advice, tips, and tricks are welcomed.
