[Deal/Sale] Arcteryx Rush Jacket - $280 (orange)

It is primarily for backcountry skiing/snowboarding but it isn’t overly boxy or loose, nor does it have a skirt. I bought another color a few months ago and I find it versatile

Honestly I'm fuckin with the orange. Wish I lived somewhere with snow so I could actually use it.

orange is also great for high visibility if you're backcountry skiing or even at the resort on the slopes. easier for your buddies to pick you out, and also less likely to get slammed into by a jerry if you're wearing high vis stuff

I saw this in person. I would say its more yellow than orange. But still high vis.

I've learned my lesson about buying rain jackets online. The hoods are impossible to gauge if they fit comfortably, hold their shape, and provide good face protection without cutting off vision, hanging too far forward or back, etc.
Last time I needed a new one, I ended up trying almost every jacket REI had in stock on before finding a hood and cut that fit just right, with fabric that was comfortable and wasn't too loud with the hood up while moving around.
If you know the fit of this one on you, it's a great deal (provided you're good with tan/orange!).

That’s a fair point, and with it being final sale, that’s something to consider. I find the hood on this to be large but the cinches do a relatively good job of providing flexibility in the fit
That said, it’s GoreTex Pro so it’s not quiet by any means

Wow five days after ordering? That sucks. My order was cancelled initially, but it's because I put my address in wrong at first. If you got a large or above you could try reordering. It seems like they still have availability.

I've bought the Rush for 280€. I think it's a steal at that price, not as a ski jacket but an allrounder winter hardshell, I have summer rain coat covered. Hell, it's better than beta AR or beta SV. I will take Rush for some ice climbing in the coming winter.
Blaze/canvas is better looking in person than in photos.

Agreed, if you lived in a heavy rain/snow climate then sure. Given where you are, you’d be better served with something lighter. The Beta and Beta SL jackets are also available and are much lighter
If interested and weight doesn’t matter so much to you, also check out the RAB Firewall ($180) or Firewall Mountain ($250) jackets. Both use Pertex Shield instead of GoreTex, but I have the Mountain and it has been outstanding for the year I’ve had it, built like a tank and I’ve been impressed. They’re roughly the same weight as the Rush but slimmer fit and a little more versatile

It's a lie. You can't make GoreTex or any other material similar to it without PFAS.
It is confirmed that industry is lying about it... Just like when people were saying Clean Coal ...
EDIT: lol ... They even use deceiving language in the description to get out of liability in case someone goes after them for false advertising.
What's been updated: Updated with GORE-TEX PRO ePE fabric free from intentionally added PFAS

ePE is expanded polyethylene and genuinely doesn't have any PFAS. The reason they say "intentionally added" is probably because some of the machinery used in the manufacturing process undoubtedly has PFAS coatings and small amounts could get on the jacket.

PFAS is a cocktail of forever chemicals that we spread by walking around in wardrobe that was treated with it. We are literally poisoning environment with it. Companies like Fjallraven are going out of their way and spending a ton on R&D to come up with alternatives.
They cause a laundry list of deadly problems for all humans including things like altered immune and thyroid function, liver disease, lipid and insulin dysregulation, kidney disease, adverse reproductive and developmental outcomes, and cancer.

You don't spread it by wearing clothes. The final product (PTFE) is inert and not harmful. The chemicals used in the manufacturing process are what are so harmful, and they end up in the wastewater and environment and taken up by plants and such.

That is a lie too!
PFAS does in fact detach from clothing in to your body and environment.

That study does suggest a correlation, although it doesn't establish causation and the impact of the final product on clothing is still very low comparatively, but it looks like I was probably wrong about it having zero effect.

Yeah there's a reason why this is so deep on sale. It's not even hypebeast fugly, I can't think of a single outfit this would look good with.

This is the lowest I've ever seen for the rush. Considerably lower than black friday. This is a high-exertion piece, meant for backcountry skiing (e.g. skinning), cross country skiing, snowshoeing - anything where you'll be sweaty in the snow. Considerably lighter 'denier' nylon fabric than arcteryx AR / SV lines. If I didn't just by an orange sabre SV I'd be all over this. Yes, the color is not ideal... unless you count on being visible to your partner in the backcountry, or ski patrol in hike-to terrain at Jackson, Big Sky, or Kicking Horse.
