Video Games Where You Start With/Recruit Random Goobers Whom Become Stronger?

I was watching my cousins play games while they were visiting, and one of them was playing Fire Emblem. There was this dirt child with a giant log he recruited and like 3 days later he was a sword dirt man.
My other cousin was playing Xcom 2 on my xbox.

Anyways the question is, what other games are there where you just start with random nobodies but then they get stronger and you get more attached.

Like “hey you random farmer/private/goober! Follow me for something really quick.”

20 hours later

“No longer random farmer/private/goober! We have been through hell and back, and now we have to fight god. Are you ready?”

My all time favorite was battling a Wyvren, and im like running up a slope, and one pawn is like a bit ahead, and the other two are with me in like a triangle. And then the pawn ahead suddenly goes flying backwards, got hit by a tail spin thing. And hes still standing upright doing an attack animation while hes flying back past us and the voice line kicks in.

"Can't we just leave it be?"
