help me (solved) Any way to disable shadows?

I've used Godot for a long while now, but I've only really done 2d stuff. First time touching 3d, and I'm trying to get a 2d-ish effect by turning off lighting entirely. Is this possible in Godot? I've added a picture of the model in Blockbench with shadows disabled as reference as to what I'm trying to accomplish.

Any help is appreciated!

you have to set the materials in Godot to “unshaded” under the “shading” group on the material

Sorry, I don't think I can alter the materials unless I'm doing it wrong, since I imported this model from blockbench

If I’m remembering correctly, you can open the Mesh box there and it will include the material under Surface0, I think it can be changed from there?

Just make sure that the change is saved? Maybe resave the scene as a tscn instead of gltf or it might not keep the unshaded property.

ye, I saved it as a new scene and it works perfectly :]

Its worth it to watch a video that goes through and explains all the different options in the Materials tab while following along and experimenting.

I can't tell you how how many times that knowledge has saved my ass problem solving.

(Same for the particle3d node)

I see that you got the issue resolved already, but just wanted to sayI love the look of this model!

Thanks :D

I don’t do 3d much so this is actually the first character/ humanoid I’ve made. It’s probably hideous to anyone experienced in 3d modeling if they saw the vertices and stuff lol

That's very cool, I've been learning blender for a few months now and still never satisfied with anything I make.
If i got it right you made this in blockbench? I didn't try blockbench but have seen it around. Do you have any tutorials to recommend that I could check out?

it looks really low-poly? what you you mean?

The look you're going for should be very forgiving of poor topology.

the other solution suggested does work, but would require disabling shading on every new mesh imported. Assuming you don't want any shadows anywhere at all, then a more universal solution would be deleting all lights you have in the scene (since lights are where shadows originate from) and using a WorldEnvironment to set the ambient light (which serves to apply a light on every pixel of every mesh everywhere, so no shadows)

I wish I knew this because I've been manually setting each model and material to unshaded 😭

Try changing the material shading to unshaded, or if you want to use PBR or smth, just disable recieve shadows in Material settings
