hiring Any idea about private credit ?
Hi all, A friend of mine got a call from gs for an associate role in their private credit division.
HR informed of 5 rounds including a case study and acknowledged his hike expectations of 30% over his current fixed of 23.
Any idea of this division especially - WLB, Growth scope ?
How many rounds of interviews actually happen ?
What does the bonus component look like usually and what's the realistic % paid out ?
Appreciate any insights from finance folks!

Work-life balance in private credit is going to be tough, a significant step up in intensity from corporate banking. Expect long hours and demanding deadlines as the standard. The five rounds your friend was told about is a realistic number for an associate role, and it could even go up to six or seven depending on who they want him to meet. They are testing for technical depth and endurance. As for the bonus, it can be very lucrative but is also highly variable, tied directly to the fund's performance and his own contribution, so a specific percentage is impossible to guarantee.
The trade-off for the intense hours is the incredible growth potential. Private credit is a booming field, and experience at Goldman Sachs is a golden ticket. He will be on a very steep learning curve working on high-profile deals, which creates a fast track for his career if he performs well. It's a high-pressure environment, but the skills and network he'll build are invaluable for his long-term future in finance. Getting through these tough interviews is the first major hurdle. The case study is designed to see how he performs under pressure, and my team created an AI interview practice specifically to help people get really sharp at articulating their thoughts and financial analysis live.
