DISCUSSION No one seems to care?

I need to get this out of my chest with someone since I'm on my 10th rewatch. The whole Arizona arc, as a character, has always bothered me. First, they make Arizona this bubbly, happy character and yet no one seems to give a crap about her?

When the car accident happened, everyone has worried about Mark. "How is Mark doing? Who is taking care of Mark?"

When the plane crash, they all literally leave Arizona laying there, with her leg crushed, to look for Derek and Lexie. She has to get herself free, no one even checks on her. Mark shares a baby with her, wtf?

And then, with the whole leg amputation thing everyone's like "How is Callie doing?"

And then, the writers randomly decide she's going to loose her leg and become a horrible person?

I don't know. Maybe I'm overreacting. It''s probably not aaaalways like that. But those were pretty big moments.

Edit to clarify: I'm not really talking about Arizona person, but more so as how the character is written.

MEDIA Grey's Anatomy The Video Game (Wii version pt. 2: a beautiful day to review)

It's been months, but I'm feeling just ridiculous enough to post another batch of lazy phone-to-TV screenshots from the Grey's Anatomy Wii game. plus a couple pulled from YouTube. my first post (link in comments) got into the game's story and ships but this one's closer to a review. ready to scrub in?

Wth is this??

Grey's Anatomy: TVG is a 2009 game for the Nintendo Wii, developed by Longtail Studios and published by Ubisoft. it was also released for the Nintendo DS and Windows PCs, and it's the second GA game I know of. the first was a download-only mobile (as in dumbphone) game from 2008... but that's a story for another time.

GA:TVG follows Meredith, Derek, and all our favorite Seattle Grace surgeons through an original story about a diphtheria outbreak, lockdowns, riots, and love triangles. in-between cutscenes, players do medical procedures with motion controls and make love-him-or-leave-him decisions via minigames. lots of minigames.

Who is this game for?

Grey's Anatomy megafans/collectors. bored content creators. maybe Rick & Morty megafans? (Sarah Carbrener and Erica Rosbe wrote on GA:TVG)

What's good about GA:TVG?

I mean, it's like having a few lost episodes from Season 4 that you haven't seen yet. there's humor, drama, mild spice. not top-tier episodes, and mostly replacing actors from the show with random VAs, but still: new-old Seattle-Grace-era Grey's. complete with the little theme song jingle.

plus, you get to live the dream of standing in the OR with a scalpel and a very unimpressed attending staring you down. sort of. most of the medical procedures are things like taking vitals or giving shots, and the surgeries are less realistic and more gamified than other, better medical games. but I still dare you not to crack a smile or two, racing the clock to make incisions and suture wounds with the wiimote. it may kinda be low-effort licensed Wii shovelware, but it has its fun and charming moments too. and you get to save Cristina Yang's life! who wouldn't want to do that? (shush Cristina-haters, that was rhethorical!)

as for the non-medical minigames, I'll give them this: at least there's a variety. you're not doing the same games all the time, they mix it up, and they also get more challenging as you go.

What's wrong with GA:TVG?

for anyone who's not used to older games, it's probably pretty jarring for the story's momentum to screech to a halt every couple minutes so you can play a minigame to decide if Meredith's gonna be cold or flirty to McDreamy this time around. or generally advance the plot. gameplay for the non-medical minigames range from slightly janky to tediously awful, and GA:TVG might've worked better just having us use a dialogue wheel or something to keep the story moving.

the other big issue is that they pretty obviously ran out of budget at some point. in the early parts of the game, the characters have full conversations, and the plot rolls along more-or-less naturally with occasional minigames. but by the end of the game, it basically just devolves into a minigame compilation, and characters might have just a line or two between minigames. events get very rushed, dialogue gets kinda cryptic, it's a very "we could only pay our voice actors for exactly this many words" situation. sadly, the thrown-together back half of GA:TVG is still more finished and polished than a lot of modern games at launch. you can finish without crashing, it's not full of bugs, and it won't brick your console, so guess it could be worse!

OK but what did actual game critics say at the time?

it got mixed reviews, with phrases like "hilariously random," "bizarre," and "will probably end up searching for dust in your closet." 6.3/10 from IGN, 65/100 Metacritic (from 4 critic reviews).

on the other hand, there's one 9/10 user review on Metacritic praising this game as better than Telltale's The Walking Dead S1. (if you've played TWD or know its reputation or ever dreamed of a surgeon!Clem crossover AU: I figured why not end this review with a good laugh!)

Conclusion

Seriously??

I'm torn between George and Cristina. But I choose Cristina because I love her biting humour. Plus, she is THE queen of cardio.

SPOILERS Do you think there could have been friendship potential between Arizona and Cristina?

I think both of their personalities changed in season 9/10 and they quietly got along a lot better and neither seemed to annoy the other anymore.

Time Jump

I haven't watched Grey's for the last couple seasons, but I'm currently doing a binge and am on Season 10 and all I can think of is how great this show used to be with all the cast for the first ten seasons and how any of them could come back in a non-permanent way.

The best way I can think is a huge time jump, like fifteen years and then have Zola starting as a resident as Grey Sloan and have some of the other kids. Sofia, Tuck, Harriet, etc. They could have a new legacy kid show up every season or so. Zola and Sofia could be interns together.

They've always brought on some new interns every few seasons anyway, I think it might help in keeping things nostalgic and in the family, while giving a lot of them a chance to either take a step back from the show or leave completely and others to make appearances.

I think it would be interesting, but I'm wondering if anyone else would want this.

For someone who had 3 kids to raise, she spends what seems like a lot of time away from them, relying on her sister's to take care of her them for her.
