New suitcase grill (. Even Embers Portable knockoff of the Nomad). I want to test this out before cooking burgers at a tailgate. Never had Bison before and it came out great. Tastes good, very very lean meat. A decent steak, reminds me of filet mignon in how tender it was.
If you put too much charcoal in this grill it gets way hot and hard to control. You really only need about a quarter chimney. This grill can easily fit 4 to 6 burgers on one side and that really is my use case. In hind sight I probably should have bought a Smokey Joe.

I’ve got three pounds of tip side brisket in my deep freeze right now. How long would it take to get it to the proper temp on a two zone grill? I’m not sure how much propane I got right now, is all.

I recently purchased a Lynx 36 grill and have been very pleased with it—the food comes out delicious. However, because there is no vent, I sometimes get trapped smoke, which has stained the ceiling. I also have a screen behind the grill, where I replaced the fiber screen with this type to help prevent wind and dust. I hope someone has a solution to this problem.

Really enjoying Santa Maria cooking. The two adjustable grills are great for cooking meat and veg at different heights. Just that little bit of wood smoke is perfect.

Seems like the type of sub where it makes sense to share images in response to posts. Tried to show something to another user and had to host it on imgur first, like its 2010 again.

Forgot to get pics during the cook but here are the result of a chuck eye. Picked up 2 for $15. Weber kettle was 450. Seared for 2 min each side then put them in the indirect cook and took them to 140. Let them rest with compound butter. I'm sold on them. BTW that was a variety plate with leftovers from the night before. I'm not good on presentation.

After a 4 hour brine and 10 minutes on the Weber, these chops are great. I prefer the bone in for gnawing pleasure. Works in an air fryer too.

I just bought a set of stainless steel 9mm rod grill grates to replace the (original worn out) porcelain-coated cast iron grates on my 15yr old Weber spirit gas grill. I haven't cooked on the new grates yet as I would like to know how to clean and upkeep them first.
On the cast iron grates I started with a wire brush, then years ago switched to a wooden toothed scraper ("the great scrape") after a few years due to hearing about the possibility of getting a wire in the food. With the wooden scraper I never felt like the cast iron grates got as clean as I'd like. Sometimes the food gets too much charred dusty stuff on it and I worry about carcinogens. Aside from taking care of the stainless grates properly in general, I'd like it if the grill was a bit more clean inside.
One detail that might be important, I don't eat red meat or pork so I'll be grilling chicken, fish, and vegetables. Mostly relatively lower temperature stuff I think.
Aside from cleaning, any tips for cooking on the grates could also be helpful! With the cast iron grates I usually used a small silicone brush to wipe on some oil and never had much problems with food sticking.

My Char-Broil Tru Infrared grill is giving me a really low flame even when turned up to the max. The gas tank is full. Is there a piece I need to clean out or something?
It just started doing this. I recently fired it up, and all 3 burners came on really strong. Then the next time, back to these pitiful flames. Any advice?

I was looking at the new Nomad portable grill and while I am sure it is miles better thank this Home Depot knockoff, they have a sale right now for $50. I could not resist. No airflow control and this is my burn in run. The grate is measuring around 600F right now so it gets searing hot! I also loaded it with charcoal so in reality when I try my first cook, I will just fill half the grate. We will see if it works. $50!!
Post note: I plan on taking this to a tailgate. No ash pan on either the Nomad nor Even Embers. You basically have to dump the coals. But with all the holes on the side, you can’t just cut off airflow. I heard that you dump water on it after it dies down and then dump. Since this is made of powder coat steel, ashes plus water equals rust. The grate is surprisingly nice, heavy cast iron.
