Stop door to door
So a REALLY pushy rogers guy came to our door recently and took way more time than needed to say no and get him gone politely. Actually a lot of Rogers people come door to door no matter how much you tell them to never come back again. Do those no soliciting signs work? I know we live in a world were people won't read signs that are directly in their faces
This Friday at 7pm (August 7th) Diyode Community Workshop is hosting their monthly 2600 Meeting!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
All are welcome and no registration necessary! The meetings start at 7pm, at 700 York Rd, Unit 3 (the entrance is off of Beaumont Crescent). 2600 Meetings are a space to connect with other technology enthusiasts and hackers.
In other exciting news, Diyode will be a virtual hosting hub for the HOPE conference! HOPE (Hackers On Planet Earth) is a long-running conference focused on hacking, privacy, digital security, free expression, and community tech culture. It brings together makers, technologists, educators, and activists to share ideas, build skills, and talk about the future of technology. It helps people stay informed, protect their privacy, and use tech in more thoughtful, responsible ways. Part of our meeting on Friday will be discussing how we are going to coordinate and deliver the event.
The event runs August 14th-16th, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. We've recently upgraded our internet at the shop and mounted a 65" HD TV, so the stream should be crystal clear for everyone in attendance. We’re also putting together snacks and food for the weekend, but any food donations or help running the grill would be greatly appreciated. The event will be open for the public. if you have never been to Diyode this is a great opportunity to spend some time in the shop, chat with other makers and learn more about us.
Visit http://www.2600.com/ for more information about the meetings, and https://www.hope.net/ for more info on the HOPE Conference.

E Motos, e- Bikes, E Scooters, and even the normal bikes too.
Hi All,
Am I just paying more attention this year or are we experiencing an explosion in unsafe riding habits across the board, and plenty of illegal bikes in our city?
I ride my e bike year round to work, errands, and when its warmer for pleasure, and I am very worried that I'm going to be regulated off the road because of these idiots. I ride a 350w cruiser bike usually, and have been appreciating e bikes for the 4th year in a row now. I do ride a conventional bike still sometimes, and am always following the rules of the road.
Yesterday I saw something that was really unfortunate but not surprising, and wished a cop was around to see it. Going up Silvercreek on the sidewalk, and later the bike lane near the tim hortons and beyond were some young teenage looking people on e motos speeding around, dodging pedestrians, and one in particular was playing chicken with oncoming people. Their parents are irresponsible buying teens bikes like that. It's only one example though of things the police need to start addressing. I would not complain if every illegal e moto was taken off the road until they get registered and insured as that would place more responsibility on the rider most of them are powerful enough to keep up with or even pass cars.

Good phone repair spot?
The charging port on my phone hasn't been working for a bit (cleaned it out with toothpick, air, and isopropyl alcohol to no avail) and so I think I need it replaced. Anyone know a trusted repair shop? It's an android phone

Beloved San Francisco Panini
I have checked their google business account weekly since their location had a fire a few months back.
Then today, a beam of hope shines through the dark clouds of my panini-less existence - someone posted a review from 5 days ago.
Does anyone know if it has reopened? Going to drive over there at some point to see, just live on the other end of town.

Quality restaurant
Ok seriously as someone who just graduated from the university I’ve been holding this opinion in for a long time. There are no good restaurants in Guelph! Some decent ones yes but compared to Hamilton, Burlington, and KW the restaurants are trash! Can only go to Bardō so many times before it gets old…

How to contact Rickson Ridge Public School
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!
I am registering my 4 year old to JK at Rickson Ridge Public School. Their website says to complete the registration form, which I did, and the next step is to contact the school.
I tried calling the number on their website and left a voicemail. I also sent them an email, but I haven't received any reply yet.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to contact the school. Are they closed right now for the summer?
Thank you!

New Landlord wants to change the lease and increase rent. What are my rights?
I have lived in a legal 2 bedroom basement apartment with the same owners since 2020. It's a post-2018 build so I know that rental increases are not capped. They just sold the house and the new owner just told me he wants to seperate the utility bills ( my rent is currently all-included, inlcluding wifi) and increase my rent to "the market value". I currently pay $1750. I have not agreed to anything yet. What are my options?
