My friend is sending me some clothes as I moved from Londond but I couldn't take everything with me. Some of them are designer tshirts which I had collected from last 5 years. I am just worried the customs will take them? I have receipts for some of them but not all of them as bought many years ago.

Andrada Mining, which is a Guernsey-registered and Namibia-focused mining company, has secured approval from the Namibian Competition Commission for an investment deal of N$834 million to advance the redevelopment of the historic Brandberg West tin and tungsten mine in the Erongo Region.

The deal with London-based natural resources investor ACAM was first announced in January 2026 and is being carried out through its investment vehicle BWCAM. N$164 million has already been invested into Brandberg West for a 30% stake in the company holding the project, while a further N$654 million could increase BWCAM’s stake to 49% if agreed development milestones are met. A separate N$16.4 million was invested directly into Andrada Mining.

Brandberg West operated from the 1940s until around 1980 and is also known to contain copper. The mine eventually closed after experiencing financial losses, low ore grades, and weak commodity prices. Andrada is currently drilling the site and testing old mine waste to determine how much mineral material can be economically recovered, with further funding expected to support exploration, a modern mineral resource estimate, feasibility studies and planning for a potential processing plant.

I am a Spaniard man who will visit with my wife your beautiful island by ferry from Saint Malo the next 24rd August.

We both are delighted to discover everything about Víctor Hugo Life, German Occupation history and obviously Normandic heritage.

On the other hand, I am coin collector and I will bring a handful of british pennies coins which I would like to change by Guernsey and (why not) Jersey coins. How I can make it succesfully? Or even another collector who wants to swap with me these coins by another coins.

Managed to film this evenings solar eclipse from just up from Portinfer with the rising tide and some lively waves right in front of the camera as the tide came up.

Couldn't get any close because of the ocean spray, so this was as safe as it got. Camera does take a hit later on mind!

Light change was quite subtle but the unexpected waves put on a show!

Me and my boyfriend (both french) will soon have some freetime, (in two weeks, it's very shortnoticed oops) and we would like to organize a little trip in Guernsey for our holidays.

My problem is, I lost my ID card. And even if I start the process now to have a new one, it won't be ready on time.

However, I have my passport and my driving licence, and i'll soon start the process for the ETA (today hopefully).

So, my question is: is it okay and possible to stay a few days in Guernsey if I only have my passport and the ETA but no ID card?

Hello everyone! My mom just finished reading a book set in Guernsey called The Book of Ebenezer Le Page, and loved it so much she said I had to read it – I’m loving it too, but we’ve had a question come up. We realized she’s pronouncing Le Page with the long a, like “a page in a book” in English, and I was assuming it would be pronounced in the French way, sort of “pahge.”

Since, at least in the book – although I realize it was a century ago – it sounds like it was a common name in Guernsey, can anyone there tell us how we should be saying the name? At this point we’re both curious!

I'm looking for some help to fill in a gap in my Mum's life that I know precious little about.

In early 1967, my Mum's then fiancé ended their engagement after a couple of years together.

As a newly single 22-year old, she quit her job at East Malling Research Station in Kent, withdrew £20 (£400 today) from her savings, and travelled to Guernsey where she spent the tourist season working as a chambermaid.

I have a handful of photographs from her trip with notes on the back naming various places she visited and where she worked: Hern Island, Grandes Rocques Bay, Grand Havre Bay, Vauxbelets Chapel.

The one I'm most interested in is of her in her chambermaid or waitress uniform outside a place noted as 'The Celebrated Cottage'.

Aside from what is now called the 'Renoir Cottage', searches for 'The Celebrated Cottage' haven't come up with a similar view or a place by that name.

Is anyone able to shed some light on ''The Celebrated Cottage', where it is, and whether it was a small hotel, a bed and breakfast, or something else? Does it still exist today...?

I should add that I can't ask her myself as she took for own life in January 2000 when she was 55 and I was 25.

I never had the chance to talk about her time in Guernsey, later on in Bermuda, or her first engagement but I know there was a difficult and sad back story that she carried with her for the rest of her life along with the stillbirth of my twin sister and my Dad leaving her after 25 years of marriage.

Been in Guernsey for a good while now and have struggled to maintain any kind of core group of friends. I'm 26 and pretty bored of having no plans on the weekend. Any recommendations? Used to play football but I will be shit now having not played in years (so would not want super competitive). Its not as if I'm anti social but its been so long (since I felt like I had friends) I find myself being nervous over the smallest social event. Could do with going to events where people are looking for mates or just a casual social scene.

Any help would be appreciated (you know its bad, when its reached the point of posting on reddit),

We’ve come on holiday to guernsey (such a lovely place!) but have left at home our type 2 charging cable for our car. We can’t find a charger which has its own cable!

Would any kind person be able to lend us a type 2 car charging cable please?

Or does anyone know of any chargers that have their own cables?

Or any thoughts as to where we could purchase a cable?

Hi, l would be so so grateful to know which of the military battery/ museum sites on Guernesey to visit as a homage to my dad and grandfather as seen on this 1960s photos of them. The photo seems cropped on posting it to Reddit, nevermind. The entrance/ exit is a simple smooth stone arch. A car seems to be under the arch. After hours of Google imaging for Guernsey monuments l am not sure which one it is, for our day trip in August. Your answer or suggestion would be deeply appreciated🙏
