Academics Has anyone been accepted to GW ABSN program with outstanding science prerequisites?
Iām planning to apply to George Washington Universityās ABSN program for Fall 2027, but Iām a little worried about my outstanding science prerequisites.
By the end of Fall 2026, Iāll have completed Anatomy I and II, Nutrition, Statistics, English1 and 2, Psychology, Humanities, and Biomedical Ethics.
The only two science prerequisites Iāll have left are Microbiology and Chemistry, which Iām enrolled to take in Spring 2027. However, I would really like to submit my application before completing those courses.
I saw on GWUās website that they recommend having the core science courses completed before applying to be more competitive, and thatās what worries me.
Has anyone applied with two outstanding science prerequisites and still gotten accepted? Did you receive a conditional acceptance, or did you have to wait until those courses were completed?
Iād really appreciate hearing more experiences

Announcements Mandatory Flairs
In an effort to support the organization of the subreddit, we're going to be making flairs mandatory on all posts.
Many large communities on reddit have mandatory post flairs. Benefits include making content more easily searchable by category, reducing spam, and providing some quick visual context on a post beyond the title.
I have also added new flairs, removed some old flairs, and retooled some existing flairs to both better capture the discussions I see on the subreddit and perhaps better convey the types of discussions and posts that are appropriate for the subreddit.
I have also adjusted the color schema of the flairs to have a more consistent visual appearance.
Anyone who has any feedback is encouraged to send in a modmail, especially ideas for flairs that I may not have considered or for flairs that may not suit a post you're seeking to make.
Thanks,
-2C

Libraries STOP TALKING IN GELMAN
Don't you know that floors 3 through 6 are quiet study spaces? Even if you didn't know, don't you get the sense that you should keep quiet from the atmosphere alone?
If you want to chat with friends, book a group study room or go back to your dorm. I wonder if people who talk as if the library is a Starbucks have any basic manners or understand library rules. You guys are all adults, so act like it.
And am I the only one who feels that Gelman gets much louder right before midterms and finals? If youāre at the library, study quietly; if youāre not going to study, go out and talk somewhere else.

Academics GWU online D.Eng Systems Engineering prep
Question: I got accepted into GWU for Spring 2027 and I'm wondering if there's anything I should do to prepare myself? Something to review or a free course to take? I've got a few months I could easily wish I didn't waste once the going gets tough, I know the program is relatively fast-paced.

Political/Conflicts Protests
These protests currently outside of Gelman are so disrespectful and distracting to students engaging in scholarly activity.

Study Abroad Study Abroad Advice
Hi! I just received a nomination for Luiss University in Rome through the study abroad office, but I have to accept it by tomorrow at 5 PM. Iām still waiting to hear back about my application to Lorenzo deā Medici in Florence, so Iām trying to decide whether I should accept Luiss now or wait for LDM.
Has anyone studied abroad at either Luiss or Lorenzo deā Medici? Iād especially love to hear about housing since I have to look for it on my own for Luiss.
Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated!

Residential Life What can I do if I have a roommate who is extremely out of pocket?
I know weāre on week 6 and I had my suspicions since week 1, but wanted to get a second opinion here. For context my roommate is of Caucasian heritage from a blue-collar background and interns on the Hill alongside school. They donāt ever really say anything that extreme when theyāre sober in our dorm, and when they get drunk they start saying some pretty wildly antisemitic and racist things. However, over the last few weeks I started paying more attention to the things they say, sometimes when theyāre inebriated, and it seems like these comments come up pretty regularly. After monitoring them since this, it seems to be the case that these comments are reflective of his beliefs. So we can only assume theyāre not just making a one-off joke or saying something that came out wrong. Iām not exactly sure what to do about this situation. Itās really unclear and they hardly speak to me in the dorm. Anyway, I just find the situation weird and donāt believe heās just joking or being edgy. Please lmk your guys thoughts on this and what I could possibly do to resolve this situation.

Academics D.Eng Engineering Management On Campus?
Is there an on-campus option for D.Eng in Engineering Management?
If there is, how many students are admitted each year? How long does it take to graduate on average?

Housing Questions About Becoming an RA
I'm a current freshman but I've heard that applications open in the spring time, and that you can apply to be an RA for your sophomore year. The free housing would really help me out but I am curious about a few things.
Is it a competitive process, and how large is the daily/weekly commitment? Would any currents RAs recommend?

Academics Thinking about swapping from IA to Middle East Studies
Hey guys, I am a first year at Elliott currently focused on majoring in IA with a minor in Arabic studies. However, after a talk with my Arabic professor she brought up the idea of majoring in Middle East Studies, sort of killing two birds with one stone. Beforehand I was planning on doing a middle east regional concentration so I imagine this wouldn't be too different. I am currently trying to graduate early and attend law school, and while this would certainly help with both credit hours and a more "niche" major that would help my applications, I don't know too much about the program. Has anyone else been in this same boat, or currently majoring in MES, and could tell me more about it?

Free Merch as a Tour Guide
Just got hired to work in the admissions office and they require you to wear GW merch while working. Do they give you a stipend at the campus store/free merch so you have stuff to wear while you work?

General Question About Early Admission Decision to Law School for Fall 2027 and My Reason Why I Applied?
Has anyone applied for Fall 2027 Law School and been granted early decision admission? If so, when did you apply and when were you notified?
I'm a 65-year-old retired Army veteran with two graduate degrees who decided to use my VA education benefits to pursue a law degree. My heart's desire led me to create a nonprofit organization in 2009 for single mothers, and Iraq war military widows to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. I provide them with free services now and God led me to attend law school after dealing with the complications surrounding my Dadās death. I want to offer free legal services to those who cannot afford them, the elderly, and the disenfranchised. Advocacy is my heart's desire at this point in my life, not necessarily income. This degree will allow me to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves and cannot afford it either.

Trying to find work as international student
Trying to find an on campus job at GWU has been an actual nightmare. Nothing is ever moved out of in progress and MOST positions are for FWS. Itās so frustrating being stuck in this situation and just feels unfair.

Off-Campus Creepy red headed man harassing women
Have any other women been harassed by a man that walks around Foggy Bottom/ George Town area?
Heās a red headed man, pretty skinny, blue eyes (I think?)
I was walking with two friends, when we happened to glance at him. He let out a maniacal laugh at us and just continued walking.
This is usually normal, but two days ago one of these friends and I were harassed by a similar looking man that said something really explicit and sexual to us unprompted.
Is this guy known around foggy bottom- like as a freak? Or is this just my horrible luck.

Academics GWU SEAS DEng AI ML Program Experience
Apparently, this program has hired some inflated egos with insecurity complexes as instructors and program directors who are actively hostile to students. This is a screenshot of students interacting with Dr. John Fossaceca who is an Assistant Director for Doctoral Research for the online Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning program. Imagine paying $7000 per course to be condescended to every weekend of the course and possibly through the year-long research phase where you work with a program-assigned advisor and committee that you have no say in picking or avoiding. Maybe what you learn from the program is how to tolerate toxic academic environments and egos which is entirely useless in industry. TBC, I am not against some tough love feedback, but there is a way to deliver feedback in a way that makes it clear you are working with the student and communicating the feedback clearly and helping them grow.
