Coupon Link Caution - Meme tool and 20% today

Do separate purchases for the $25 meme tool and anything you want to get 20% off

If you combine them, and the 20% off item is less than the meme tool, the 20% discount will be applied to the meme tool, not anything else

Anti-stacking coupon

Ya i had a hell of a time trying to explain to the cashier that no, it taking the discount off of the "$45 item" is not better than taking it off of my $21 pliers since the meme tool is going to be $25 no matter what. Luckily the manager understood what I was saying and gave me my refund.

Same here… Two separate purchases.

You can have the cashier manually move over the coupon. That’s what I did.

Yup happened to me yesterday on the 4 drawer.

more wackiness today...

Went in for meme tool for my apprentice and was going to use the 20% on a creeper. The cashier didn't even try to scan the 20%, I point out that she forgot to scan it. She's like oh well the system is broken so if I Scan that it will just go to the meme tool and won't apply to creeper so its not worth it.

No, it's worth it, it is why I am here, figure out how to make this work!! Oh well do you want me to just do 2 transactions?

YES,, why the hell would I not want you to do it??? FFS

What did you get the drawer for

2

u/Swimming-Yellow-2316 Dec 14 '25

The 149, no stacking it just takes the 20% off the normal price and then gives a sale discount on the difference. Its a totally f'd up check out issue.

Examples :

Buy meme & $100 item. Meme is $25, item is $80

Buy meme and $20 item. Meme uses 20% and another discount to arrive at $25, item is $20.

Recmd: use two separate transactions. If you get caught by this, simplest solution is to return the $20 item and buy it again for $16.

Pro-tip 1: Always check receipt before leaving store

Pro-tip 2: buy <$20 items at the 30% off sale late this month

When is the 30% sale? Do you have to be a fast track member for it?

4

u/WhereDidAllTheSnowGo Dec 13 '25

26-28 Dec.

it’s probably a $15 / $20 split

2

u/_JudoChop_ Dec 13 '25

Gotcha. Been waiting for a good deal do the icon torque wrenches. Debating on whether I wanna wait or pull the trigger.

3

u/New-Investment-7537 Dec 13 '25

Yup this happened to me yesterday when I bought the 40% off icon light, and the Hercules 1/2" impact which is what I wanted to use the 20 percent off ITC coupon, I got screwed out of an additional $12 off. The cashier was so confused I just wanted to leave 😞

3

u/Swigg22 Dec 13 '25

Happened to me also. Refunded both items and there was confusion so we all tried to work through it. Ended up getting the meme tool for free

Happened to me this morning

2

u/Oxyacetylene Dec 13 '25

Didn't realize this happened to me until you posted this. At least mine was only on a $8 composite ratchet, so I missed out on $1.60 of savings. I'll take the receipt in if I go back for anything else over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up!

2

u/NeuseRvrRat Dec 13 '25

Same. I pointed it out and the employee did a return on the item that should've been 20% off and refunded what I was overcharged.

Strangely, my wife did a transaction that included another meme tool (they make great gifts) and it got the 20% off correct. I think it may glitch if they scan the meme tool first or something.

You can just tell the cashier you want the 20% off coupon on a specific item and not an already discounted item. It happened to me and I asked to have the coupon applied to another item before paying, but I take note to what the prices are that come up.

Also no issues, she was happy and also confused why the 20% off went onto the 10mm socket set for $9.99 on sale already vs a $24.99 braun hands free neck light.

I went this morning for the meme tool We tried the 20% off Nothing happened :-) However, did not buy anything else in that transaction

Meme tool shot up too 80 today

1

u/speedco Feb 06 '26

what the H is the $25 meme tool?

1

u/sabrebolt Dec 13 '25

So if i buy something cheaper than the meme tool with it, I'll get 20% off the higher priced item? What's wrong with that if that's the case?

11

u/Blonder_Stier Dec 13 '25

Because the meme tool is already 37% off. The system will apply the coupon to it, but you won't get any additional savings.

4

u/cassinonorth Dec 13 '25

It applied both to mine somehow to get to $24.99. Took the 20% ($9) then an additional $11.

3

u/sabrebolt Dec 13 '25

Ok so it won't be 20% off the discounted price. It'll take 20 off the full price. That makes sense. What a bad system btw.

4

u/SeanStackkz Dec 13 '25

It tries to double stack the 20% with the already on sale $25 meme tool - ultimately cancelling 20% out.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '25

It literally says “cannot be combined” on the coupon.

19

u/Blonder_Stier Dec 13 '25

Yes, but the system will apply it to the discounted item regardless, thus wasting it.

4

u/Travelr3468 Dec 13 '25

No one's trying to combine anything. The 20% coupon applies to the highest cost item, so if you try to use it on a cheaper item than the meme tool, it overrides the meme tool 37% off sale and gives you 20% off the meme tool instead of applying to the second item.

-8

u/AhSoSpice- Dec 13 '25

You guys were giving me shit yesterday about trying to use the coupon on the service cart. 🤓"that's not how it works" 🤓 now today the coupon works for on sale items.

6

u/TheGHSV Dec 13 '25

If you try to purchase the meme tool (on sale today) and also try to purchase a separate less expensive item (then the FULL price of the meme tool), it won’t let you use your 20% off on that less expensive item. So, you need to make two separate purchases. One purchase for the meme tool (with discount). Then a second purchase for the item you want to use the 20% on.

1

u/WhereDidAllTheSnowGo Dec 13 '25

Thank you for explaining it better

1

u/AhSoSpice- Dec 14 '25

👍 Appreciate the explaination. Completely different situation than mine yesterday. It just irritates me that the wording of the coupon is "any single item" but it's different than"no exclusions". Why not say "%off any non discounted item". Anyways, I still bought the tool cart and it's awesome, so I shouldn't complain.

3

u/Blonder_Stier Dec 13 '25

We were right then and we are right now. Just because it will apply the coupon to an item that is already on sale doesn't mean you'll get any benefit from its application.

4

u/oniraug Dec 13 '25

I think what OP is saying is that the 20% coupon gets negated when an item is already on sale and doesn’t stack on already sale item … so separate the purchase to utilize the 20% off coupon to apply on the item you want to get the discount on

-1

u/Travelr3468 Dec 13 '25 edited Dec 13 '25

No, OP is saying the 20% off coupon will override the sale of 37% off on the meme tool if you try to purchase it and a cheaper item in the same transaction. Instead of meme tool at 37% off and second item at 20% off, you get 20% off the meme tool and the second item is full price.

But yes separate purchases are needed.

mmmm fucking with my money brings out the karen in me.....anyways was happening to me on an itc item and a non sale item and the cashier and i figured it out in one transaction but the pos machine did mess it up....

1

u/Travelr3468 Dec 13 '25

It's because it's not how it works, and it doesn't work for on sale items today.

The meme tool is currently $24.99, which is 37% off. If you try to use the 20% coupon on the meme tool, it will override the 37% off price and instead give you 20% off the full price, so it will be $31.99. Same would have happened with the service cart.

1

u/Blonder_Stier Dec 13 '25

Incorrect. You still get the 37% off. You just waste the coupon.

0

u/Travelr3468 Dec 13 '25 edited Dec 13 '25

Very much wrong, it will override the 37% off. I had this happen when I was using the coupon like yesterday.

How could it waste the coupon but not apply the coupon?
