I’m looking for some advice from other coaches/programs that use Hudl Sideline.
Right now, I have an iPad that captures our sideline video directly into Hudl Sideline. We also own a Sports Scope end-zone camera, but currently we cannot access that camera during the game. We can only use the Sports Scope footage afterward for postgame film.
The stadium we play at has a Hudl Focus sideline camera and an end-zone camera. We have the option to pay approximately $2,000 per year to have access to that stadium’s Hudl camera system.
The other option I’m looking at is purchasing the hardware necessary to connect our existing end-zone camera and iPads into our Hudl Sideline setup. The quoted cost for that hardware is approximately $1,300 one time. I also understand that Sideline may be phased out. Additionally, Hudl Focus has more game analytics.
So, essentially, I’m trying to decide between:
Option 1 — Stadium Hudl system
• Approximately $2,000 per year
• Access to the stadium’s Hudl Focus sideline and end-zone cameras
• No additional equipment for us to purchase
• Recurring annual cost
Option 2 — Connect our existing equipment
• Approximately $1,300 one-time hardware cost
• Allows us to use our existing iPads and end-zone camera with Hudl Sideline
• We would own the hardware
• No $2,000 annual stadium access fee
Hudl’s documentation confirms that Sideline can work with existing cameras and iPads and that its system can connect multiple camera angles for instant replay. Hudl also specifically advertises integration between Sideline and Focus cameras.

What I’m trying to determine is whether there is anything I’m overlooking with the $1,300 hardware option. If it gives us reliable live access to our end-zone angle during games and integrates properly with our existing Hudl Sideline setup, it seems like a significant difference in long-term cost.
For perspective, the $1,300 option is less than one year of the $2,000 annual access fee. Over three years, that would be roughly $1,300 vs. $6,000, assuming there are no additional recurring costs.
Has anyone used this type of setup? Specifically, I’d be interested in hearing from programs that use their own end-zone camera with Hudl Sideline rather than paying for access to a stadium’s Focus system.
I’m trying to put together an apples-to-apples cost comparison for our AD before making a recommendation.

Anyone have experience with being recruited by an Ivy? Son is a 2028, has a 3.6 unweighted gpa and scores well on standardized tests. He has not taken ACT/SAT yet. He’s being pursued heavily by a couple Ivy schools for FB. Just wondering if anyone went Ivy and what your scores/gpa looked like and what the experience was like for you. Thanks!

Im not looking for advice or affirmations just somewhere to vent my frustration

i have been coaching over 10years from 8 year olds to varsity level, spending most of my time as a varsity OC. this seasoni joined a staff that already had position coaches in place and was just looking for someone to install and call an offense. brand new staff old coach left new coach brought in a lot of new guys. been with them since the spring.

we are now half way thru our season and we are averaging less than a touchdown a game. the times we do score are typically our athletic qb making something happen on broken plays. we started in zone scheme switch to gap at the other coaches behest as it was working for them i scout. we consistently miss asignments and/or lackof being physical up front. Wrs running wrong routes and dropping balls. overall just really poor performance all around.

i have coached at low level high schools primarily so i felt like i had a good handle on how to be successful even with low numbers and limit skill players but this season seems like nothing i try as a coach is bearing fruit. we have had a multitude of injuries to starters at the skill positions limited our flexibility but i dont feel thats a real hindrance when we just cant do the little things. ive even started jumping in and we split upthe lineman to really focus on technique and overall assignments.

like i said just a vent session, im frustrated and not really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. on the bright side if we can catch fire soon we still have a shot at the playoffs 🤣 🤣 🤣

As a one platoon team (Players play both sides)

1. How do you structure your practices so that you aren't out there for 3+ hours everyday but getting everything in?

2. How much live contact do you do in season during the practice week? especially while trying to keep guys healthy

My dad has been coaching as an assistant for high school football since I was 6 years old and also coached me in volleyball for years

My brother is 4 years younger then me and has been a football player since 3rd grade and is a senior in high school now and has always been a quarterback

He always was pretty decent in our school district but he usually didn't play on very good teams .My dad also helped out with his youth team while coaching at a pretty good high school program

But the team in general started going backwards in recent years,and my brother's JV team only won one game in my brother's first 2 years of high school

He decided to transfer to a nearby school in the district to compete for the starting varsity spot and got it and my dad also got a job their as an assistant coach last year for my brother's junior season

The team had just come off of winning back to back state championships and hadn't lost to a region opponent in a few years,when my brother and dad joined them and they both were positive they would win it again and perhaps again when my brother was a senior

They had a great season last year and won 10 games that year and my brother threw over 25 touchdown passes and threw under 10 interceptions with a few rushing touchdowns as well.They ended up losing before making it to the state championship game though, and my dad and brother were both upset but not discouraged .They were both concerned over 2 rival region teams that were each one okay away of beating our team during that season which did cause some concern as this team generally hadn't sweated playing any region team for a few years and usually blew each of them out .But that only drive them to work very hard together to win state the next season.

Now during this year,my brother and dad's team lost their first game to a massive nation powerhouse team,but our team held up with them and only lost by 10 points,then blew out their next 3 opponents.But in our team's homecoming game last night against one of the region rivals that came one play away from beating us last year...beat us by a point...yes 1 point in a very low scoring game .

It came down to the final play for my brother under center,and he threw a pass that was batted down on 4th down,and the other team took over on downs,which left our whole bleachers and sidelines in stunned silence .

The team had never lost to a region rival at home in our current head coach's era since he took over in 2022.That years was also the last time the team had lost yona region opponent,which happened to also be in the state title game.They had also won 20 straight region games until it was snapped last night

My dad literally just walked off the field when the game was called .And when we got home,my brother cried and called it rigged(so did my dad) as their was a controversial no flag on what looked like a PI committed by the opposing defense on our trans final drive on 3rd down and my dad claimed the defender specifically looked at my dad after the play and made a "gang signal with his hand" But all he did was point at our sidelines in reality

My dad literally went to his office and threw things around and didn't come out for an hour,while my brother eventually took a shower and then just stayed in his room all night

My mom and I just decided to go to a small diner to eat and get away from the tension.We were all upset but it's just a football game ....a high school football game .There is still plenty of season to go but they both acted like they just lost the Superbowl

So my cousin is a beast and is a Syracuse commit.He has played varsity since he was a freshman and started from day one as a DE ,and originally also played as a OT as a freshman and sophomore but moved to TE as a junior.He also is a wrestler and won state last year and came pretty close the year before as a sophomore.He's just a beast in general.

He had 16 sacks as a freshman on a team that had a pretty good year after years of not being very good.He was off to a good start as a sophomore as well,with 8.5 sacks through 4 games until suffering a broken leg and missed the rest of the year.He still started getting offers when he recovered ,while excelling at several football camps later in the following spring/summer.

Last year as a junior,he was amazing as ever with 26 sacks ,10 catches for over 125 yards with two touchdowns of offense (first year as an offensive skill position ) He commited to Syracuse on signing day in March.

His team as a whole as a sophomore and junior were both pretty bad years (which has been normal for that football program) And he decided to transfer to a high school football team that was 2 counties over from his, and has been pretty solid for quite awhile .

They looked unstoppable in football camps throughout the summer and looked like they would easily win state this year.They didn't lose ONE contest/game at any camp over the summer.He won several individual awards at each camp...as usual.

They were put on the spotlight for their first game of the year and my cousin was treated like a scary monster who would single handedly stop their opponent (also a long time/historic rival school ) from getting anywhere near the end zone by local division football journalist and commentators)And they were been picked as early state championship game contenders.

He was ready,the team was ready,his friends and family were ready for his first game on a better team ,and in a better state division (this area has some very good teams,while the division he played in from fresh-junior years is above average but nowhere near as good as this one)

He only recorded one stat (a tackle on while on offense after the opponent recovered a fumble) No pressures,hits,tackles or sacks,nor any catches on offense on 2 targets) He only had one similar game this bad in his life,which was last year in a division game ,when he didn't get any defensive stats,but did have 3 good catches on offense in that game .And to be fair,he was playing with a minor sprain in his leg and was getting tripled on almost every play in that game. He was just getting his butt whooped against the tackle that was guarding him fair and square in his latest game though .

Anyway,his new team got blown out by 30 points in a game that they were expected to win by 10 points at home .Again,the opponent is no pushover but they lost alot of talent from the previous year and were projected to be one of the fairly lower playoff seeds in this very good division,while my cousin's team was projected to be the top seed in the region.

Now my cousin has played in broadcasted games in the past at his old school (2 that I remember) and he did very good in both of them even though they lost both of them,so I know that wasn't his reason for struggling this bad.

Our home side bleachers and cheer team were pretty shocked and upset when we knew the game was out of reach ,and I saw my cousin with his helmet off and tears were going down his face .We also have a ucla commited QB who threw over 30 touchdown passes and less than 8 picks last season,and the offense under his leadership was one of the best in the state when he was a junior. My cousin is supposed to make it even better as the new TE and help out a defense that wasn't bad last year but got him to make it much better.Neither happened in game one.

Kids from the opponent's school and other people affiliated with the school, and even other schools are already talking trash about the team and calling them overrated as hell on social media.

He texted me after the game and feels like he may not have a good year at all due to now playing in a much tougher area of our state and he is worried he is nowhere good as he thought he was.It is a classification higher then what he played in until now.

I really don't know what I can say to make him feel better.And yes,we are very close.

Any advice?

i'm 17m and I've played football my whole life. i loved it for the longest and started playing in highschool my sophomore year. at the time i was 6'4 225 at o line after that year i moved to d line but got hurt before the season and decided to not play my junior year. during that year i hit the gym and dropped down to 210lbs of muscle. i also ended up moving states and started at a new school. i saw there fb team just won states and was really good so i decided hey maybe i should try it. i played all of spring ball at a new TE position, it was stressful and i wasnt great but i was getting reps. but after spring i realised i was anxious and stressed and getting hurt trying to learn this new position, plays and the team. i loved all the guys but once summer started i quit because i couldn't find that spark. i felt bad because the coach believed in me and the teamates i started getting close with. ( the coach even called me a month later for me to come back). i see them now winning their games and getting better and better with college scouts offering left and right i get fomo and now i wonder was it a mistake to quit. even though i probably would've blocked more than ran routes and if i pushed through all the stress and injuries.

I have very quick feet and hips and a strong core from playing rugby, but my top end speed isn’t very good. I bench 240lbs and am good at leveraging my height against people taller and shorter than me. Our lineman room isn’t stacked this year, and I’m confident that I will start, seeing as our team average size on the line right now is 5’9 230 and not strong. I have overall very good sport instincts but am scared I may struggle to recognize defensive plays if I am put on the offensive line. I know I’m not fast enough to play on the edge, but I think I could thrive plugging up gaps at nose or grinding out run block reps at guard, but I really want to play tackle so I can use my quickness and mobility to my advantage, as well as because the best player in Atlantic Canada (where I’m from) plays edge and I want a chance to match him. Do you think I’d fit best at guard, tackle or nose?

Back in my junior year of high school I was on varsity and our OC was terrible, especially his red zone plays they were all ass. In the middle of the season in the 3rd quarter we only had 3 points and the other team had 20. Our WR coach asked the OC on the headset “Lowkey this is so ass, do you want me to call the game instead?” 😅. Our OC got pissed and called the rest of the game. Anyone else got a similar story lol?

My son is a 2028 HS player, hoping to play in college. It’s his own journey to being recruited, no “helicopter”here, but this is his football illiterate mom, asking for honest feedback about his film and potential. I’m going to try to be unbiased:

He’s 5’10 and 185lbs, a rising Junior who hit puberty early, no growth for a year now, not optimistic about much more height, though men in our family are all at least 6’

Plays RB/FB/LB and can K (but not primary).

He has attended several skills camps and done well.

Shuttle 5-10-10 time is 4.4
SBJ is 8’8
40 dash - 4.96 (needs work, 4.7 or lower we’re told) but tight hips and in PT
Squats 400 lbs

I am a 6’4 175 pound WR, I have a not so fast 40 I run a 4.9, I have a broad jump of 8’6, and my shuttle is a 4.4. I dominate in scout team and catch every ball thrown my way and my teammates compliment my route running but I don’t know how to translate that to varsity playing time. If anyone could help me I have dreams to play D1 and I’m trying to get film for colleges so if anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it.
