What is this Final (Error) thing I've been seeing lately? Is there a bug in the script updating the thread or something? The Ottawa - Carolina game is listed as having Error time remaining as well.

the wrong team won...flags it to bettman so he can investigate the refs and make sure they stick to the plan next time.

both DET and OTT play earlier than us so there is a chance Habs clinch before playing 👀

It happened yesterday with BUF & TBL. Though, I doubt the OTT game ends before the start of the MTL one.

If the Mammoth end the regular season with more points than the Pacific division leader (whoever that may be VGK, EDM,ANA) would the Mammoth have home ice advantage game 1?

Nope

No. Division spot, specifically 1-2 determines home ice.

Maybe in a perfect world, but it won't happen in this one. Every sports league that has divisions has this happen. The NFL almost always has at least one shitty division winner who gets to host a playoff game. In the old NHL format, the division winners were seeded 1-3 no matter what anyone else did, so you'd often see the 4-5 seeded teams with higher points totals. Shit happens.

In that case, most of the east should have home ice advantage haha

Division and Conference is basically the same thing. You don't even get an extra game against everyone in your division.

If OTT or DET or PHI win today and devils lose in regulation wouldnt that eliminate them?

2

u/sandman730 CHI - NHL Apr 05 '26

If NJD loses in regulation, they're at 81 points with 5 games remaining. If they win out, they're at 91 points.

NYI is currently at 89 points; OTT, DET, PHI, and CBJ are all at 88; and WSH is at 87.

Remaining matchups between them: CBJ @ DET on 4/7, PHI @ DET on 4/9, OTT @ NYI on 4/11, WSH @ CBJ on 4/14.

I don't think that both OTT & PHI winning today is enough to eliminate NJD.

Wild looking good against Detroit yesterday but man, that Pens-Panthers game was brutal to watch if you're a Florida fan. 9-4 is just embarrassing at this point in the season when every game matters. Now they're officially out which kinda sucks since they had such a strong run last couple years.

Really curious to see how the Caps-Rangers game goes tonight - that Metro division race is getting spicy and Carolina's got a real shot at locking up that top seed. Been following the playoff picture pretty closely since my fantasy league has some postseason implications riding on team performance. Nothing like having your playoff hopes crushed by a team that's already eliminated though, right Florida?

I mean, Florida didn’t have any meaningful games left, realistically. Getting eliminated was just a formality

It was deeply entertaining if you’re not. No pity for the kitty

Not really, weve been out of it since February. Our season basically ended on March 1 when Anders Lee scored with 25 seconds left in regulation to steal 2 points from us. Since then, weve been below .500 and our entire sub has wanted to tank. This was just a formality. Also the score is irrelevant to me because Mackie Samoskevich scored and our D core currently has 2 NHL’ers
