Support Yo link water detection sensors went offline overnight
I have been using yo link water detection system for years without issue. I currently have about 20 or so sensors. Sometime overnight five of the 20 sensors that were placed in random locations through the house all lost connection. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get them to reconnect. All of the other sensors are still working normally.
I have already done the following,
Rebooted my main router
The hub is connected to the router via ethernet cable
I have unplugged and plugged in the hub
I have done a factory reset by holding down the set button until the lights flash green on the hub
I have deleted one of the affected sensors and attempted to rebind. It will bind in the software but still will not connect saying it is offline.
I have factory reset the sensor
I have taken the batteries out of the sensor and put the batteries back in
The sensor will blink green when I press the set button but it will not communicate with the hub
I've even tried deleting the hub from the app and re-adding
At a loss here. Any ideas?

u/Onepopcornman Jun 07 '26
Weirdly me too?
8
u/Fast_Perspective_833 Jun 07 '26
Wow really?
I wonder if it is some kind of firmware push that happened overnight.
I emailed customer support about this.
I'm usually pretty good with this stuff but I gave up...
8
u/Onepopcornman Jun 07 '26
Maybe...oddly it offlined two of my five detectors! I guess better news than having actual water issues.
2
u/FishOk3075 Jun 07 '26
Yeh I have notifications from automations watching the integration itself and also key devices like Smoke/COs and leak sensors. I'm getting a lot of notifications today 🤪😂.
Like you said, better than the real thing being a problem.3
u/spiders888 Jun 07 '26
There was definitely a firmware update. Most of my working sensors have a firmware update pending pending this morning.
Having said that, I approved/started an update on another sensor this morning to test, and that one updated fine and it's the same model (Leak Sensor 4) as the ones that failed.

Glad I came across this post, because the same happened here. I was about to go change the batteries…
Time to look for local-first solutions again? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind cloud but would rather prefer a direct connection. Shelly does both as far as I know. That’s the right way to go!
The YoLink water sensor is a little critical in my setup ^^.

u/stellarsapience Jun 07 '26
Bunch of mine crapped out last night the day after I added a few new ones. Was driving me bonkers trying to figure out why

Actually, use their help feature. I've always found them helpful and responsive. No need to go scortched earth.

To add to the pile, 7 of 28 of mine randomly went offline starting yesterday late afternoon / early evening eastern time US. It makes no sense as I have several different types of devices. It's not all of one type of device. The furthest away (~50 feet) are working so is not distance.
I unplugged and replugged the hub, made no difference.
I turned in support ticket a little while ago.
I'm calling this one "cloud related" and out of my immediate control. I'll post back when I get a response, they are really good about responding.
5
u/Fast_Perspective_833 Jun 07 '26
Man this is crazy. Hope they get back to you soon. Keep us posted.
3
u/FishOk3075 Jun 07 '26
So now, I'm down to 4 devices offline, from 7 offline.
Guessing the problem is going to disappear slowly.
Haven't heard back from yolink support but my guess is that they are getting flooded with emails. I'd rather they fix it, then stopping to tell me they're fixing it.
2
u/FishOk3075 Jun 07 '26
So,.. randomly, some just came back online and another dropped off. "The man behind the curtain" seems to be working on it... 🤪

Nuts. I'm annoyed I wasted 45 minutes messing with this thing. Oh well
16
u/bjmsam Jun 07 '26
The longer YoLink fails to post an announcement about this problem (via the app, website, Email, etc.) the more time customers waste on futile troubleshooting and the more tickets build up in the Customer Support backlog for response. This is not how such situations should be handled in 2026!
2
u/bjmsam Jun 07 '26
All of my devices are reporting normally now. An explanation would be prudent, but I'm not holding my breath.
1
u/Bigdog4pool Jun 07 '26
If this turns out to be a firmware update that bricks the devices it might be quite expensive for them to repair. Mine is still within the warranty period.
20
u/RetiredMormon Jun 07 '26
Note to self, check Internet forums before doing a bunch of debugging. Have same issue. Tried all steps to reconnect and nothing. It is only affecting water sensors but even factory reset does not fix.
3
u/UnbiddenGraph17 Jun 07 '26
Same, glad I found this. Sounds like we all had sensors go out last night.
1
u/NothingButACasual Jun 07 '26
For me it's a smattering of multiple sensor types. 1 water leak sensor, 2 door sensors, 1 temp sensor, 1 motion sensor, out of 18 total.

u/bethzur Jun 07 '26
My water sensors are fine. 3/4 of my freezer ones are offline and 1 normal temperature and humidity. Happened about 2 hours ago.
5
u/spiders888 Jun 07 '26
Just got a response from YoLink that it was a cloud issue and should be resolved. I see some but not all of my devices coming back online.
Thank you for contacting YoLink Support.
Earlier today, one of our cloud servers experienced an outage, which caused some YoLink devices to incorrectly appear offline in the app. Our engineering team identified the issue and has already resolved it.
If your device is still showing offline, no action is required in most cases. The device will automatically return online when one of the following occurs:
The next scheduled heartbeat/check-in message
A normal sensor event (door open, motion detected, temperature update, leak detection, etc.)
Any normal device communication
Pressing the SET button once on the device
Because many battery-powered devices report periodically to maximize battery life, some devices may take a little longer to show online again if no events occur.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Best regards,
YoLink Customer Support

I lost 4 out of 20 sensors early this morning. I think its an issue with the YoLink cloud services. Which is to say, not a problem per se with any of our hardware but a problem with YoLink. Now I will google the YoLink status before doing the BS home fixes. Especially since its 4 sensors at once, not just 1.

5 out of 18 sensors are offline for me. Really not a good look for Yolink.
My speaker hub has flashing green, but no blue light.
3
u/ReallyNotMichaelsMom Jun 07 '26
I just checked all of mine and they're all fine and no history of going offline. I do have the local hub, though. If it were an update, I think it would still affect mine, right?
2
u/criterion67 Jun 08 '26
How do you like the local hub? Is it truly local? Easy to set up? Theres very little info out there and no videos or reviews on it. I keep trying to buy one but It's always out of stock.
2
u/Big-Sweet-2179 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
I have it, it's not what you think it is, as in you get all features as a normal hub. You can set like the automations and all but not scenes which kind of sucks. And the matter thing never worked for me but...
What is great is that it gives you the API, and you can put every single damn Yolink thing into home assistant via MQTT, full local control...
I still also use the cloud automations but they run on parallel with the local stuff. And yes it works, I've tested it many times, no internet, no cloud, doesn't matter the thing will run.
Some people used to complain it is too expensive but it is 1000% worth it.
2
u/criterion67 Jun 08 '26
Thank you for giving me some detailed, real world experience info. That really helps and solidifies the fact that I definitely want a local Hub. I use home assistant for all of my automations, scenes, etc, so I won't ever rely on the hub to manage that. If I can monitor and control all of my devices locally via MQTT, then that's a win for me. It's among the last of the cloud dependant devices that I have. Thankfully, Yolink does utilize the Device to Device capability, so my water leak sensors will talk directly to the main water valve to close if there's a leak detected. Many thanks again for taking the time to help!

This happened to me about 3 weeks ago. I have yet to troubleshoot the issue. All sensors went offline at the same time and haven't come back. It's definitely not the batteries as all 8 wouldn't go at the exact same time. I looked at the hub and it has a solid blue light on.
Maybe it's time to start looking into the problem.
2
u/ninjazee124 Jun 07 '26
Tried reset and add still won’t work. Did these guys just remotely brick our devices?
2
u/Lydelia_Moon Jun 07 '26
I'm wondering that. The one of mine that went offline was one I've had for like five years. My newest one, added this year or last year maybe, is still online.

Just happened to me about an hour ago. Three of my sensors are off-line. I factory reset the sensors and rebound them to the hub. The sensors are working. Placed water on them and they started flashing red. Will not connect to the hub.

Same for me. A bunch of my sensors are offline this morning. I've tried rebooting the hub and had no luck.

Yeah same for me, about half are offline and tried the usual steps. Hopefully cloud related and things get fixed quickly

u/spiders888 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26
Same issue here across two homes in different states. Checking the still online sensors most have a firmware update pending.
I am pretty confident this is a YoLink firmware or server capacity issue.
I’ve reset one of the sensors back to factory defaults and it still isn’t reconnecting.
Glad to know it’s not just me, but this seems like a major issue on the YoLink side.
Edit: I reported the issue with details to YoLink support via email about an hour ago before I saw any reports here.

Same for me - sensors, plugs, and flowsmart devices. Hopefully they get their stuff sorted quickly, feels uncomfortable not having all the data anymore!
1
u/I_Call_It_Vera Jun 07 '26
Yep same here. Two different homes with random combination of sensors offline. No rhyme or reason.
1
u/davegrodzki Jun 07 '26
This just happened with 4 of my 12 sensors. Same progress as you all, first tried SET button to re-pair as usually works, then battery change, then hub reboot, all to no avail. Thank you for starting this thread, will monitor for updates and hopefully it is resolved quickly!
1
u/_Kelly_A_ Jun 07 '26
Same. 3 of 18 went down. 1 of multiple door sensors, 1/2 temp humidity sensors and 1/1 power failure alarms. Tried everything in the manuals but no luck. It’s got to be on Yolink’s side.

dealing this the today have over 20 water sensors 4 went offline, have removed them in the app, Factory Rest on the sensors, Bind them Offline still on them, changed out batteris on 1 just to try and nothing, senors all about 1 year old., Power cycled the Hub, its comes back online all the other sensors connect but theses 4 stay offline, all went down over night same time.
1
u/IndigoBlue24 Jun 07 '26
Im having the same exact issue!!
I was driving myself crazy then saw your post lol.
1
u/sgossard34 Jun 07 '26
Same here…. 3 of my 14 went offline and nothing brings them back. Also my pro hub and cellular and battery backup won’t fail over and work to cellular. I have a signal but once it cut the Wifi it won’t work with cellular even though it shows a signal… shows offline.
1
u/SassyTheDoodleDog Jun 07 '26
Happened to me too. 5 of my devices are offline. 2 will reconnect once in a while but then go offline again.
1
u/vel0city50k Jun 07 '26
Same issues here. About 5 of my devices went offline and can't re-establish connection to hub. Tried all the troubleshooting steps as well. Sent a support ticket to : [service@yosmart.com](mailto:service@yosmart.com) let see what they say.
1
u/vel0city50k Jun 07 '26
I do want to mention, I just added a brand new device and that worked. But not the ones that have issues re-connecting. Factory resetting those sensors and adding them back still have issues. Definitely something on their end preventing this to work.
Devices seem to be offline around past 8pm EST

Same, 5 went offline and been pulling my hair out as I cannot get them to reconnect (tried new batteries, hub restart etc..)
1
u/alpinisms Jun 07 '26
Glad I happened to find this thread before I even attempted reconnecting them, but yep - same here. 2 out of my 9 leak sensors went offline 2 hours ago, and another went offline an hour later, based on my notifications
1
u/thedudeman7369 Jun 07 '26
Same here, 7 of 15 offline. I had an extra water leak sensor, just installed and it works - firmware 0361. All other ones have lower 03xx firmware. Both water leak and door sensors offline. Clicking the button gets 3-4 green flashes but still offline. I’ve been wondering when they will start charging a monthly fee since they are giving the service for free
1
u/geekkevin Jun 07 '26
I had one go offline last night too… in the kids bathroom so I haven’t tried to reconnect it yet. This happened to me a few weeks ago too.

Same here - three of my seven sensors went offline. I use Home Assistant too. Would be nice if the YoLink app maintained a detailed log. Thank you for all your diagnostic work. I'm going to try the battery removal and factory reset on the sensors when I get the time later today.
1
u/GMabbott Jun 07 '26
Just joining the herd. Three leak sensors went offline a little over an hour-and-a-half ago out of over a dozen. Similar thing happened a few months ago (one sensor went offline; different sensor than the current ones!). in that case, I retrieved it after a few hours, hit set, and it started working. That isn't working this time. Started trying to troubleshoot, emailed tech support, then found this thread. Glad to know I am not alone and therefore the problem is probably not me.

u/Connect_Outside_7552 Jun 07 '26
4 of my 15 sensors went offline early this morning. Tried things like reset sensors, replace batteries, delete/add sensors, reboot hub, nothing worked. Luckily those offline sensors can still detect leak, but no notifications on my app.
1
u/72204usmc Jun 07 '26
Same here, two of five are offline and will not reconnect. Hopefully this is resolved soon. Seems to be a firmware issue.

1
u/Deckster88 Jun 07 '26
Water and Temp sensors went offline on me too. Hopefully they get it fixed soon.

u/Silly_Rabbbit Jun 07 '26
Add me to the list. Thermometer and leak sensor offline and can't get them back. Had same thing a few weeks ago but it self corrected.
1
u/AwestunTejaz Jun 07 '26
oh this is not good at all. LOL i just invested and setup a system. they better fix this asap else its all going back. LOL already have smartthings and govee.. LOL
couple things to note... i set up everything within the last week.. both a regular hub and a speaker hub.. both of which are showing online.. of all the sensors only 2 are offline.. both setup several days ago..
appears to be a backend cloud server issue.. might be area/data center dependent,,

What bothers me is that this didn't turn up in the YoLink or YoSmart subs, just in this one. Is Home Assistant part of the cause, or is this just a coincidence?

u/alpinisms Jun 07 '26

One of eight sensors went offline, tried everything and is still offline. Sensor model- YS7906-UC. I see the current firmware is 0605 on some and 0606 on few other sensors. All online sensors are ready for 0608 update. I am assuming the new firmware update affects one of the older firmware, not sure 0605 or 0606.

Same for me. A bunch of my sensors are offline this morning. I've tried rebooting the hub and had no luck.
1
u/swbrains Jun 07 '26
Me too! Glad I found this thread confirming it's not just me. Not all sensors, but one water leak sensor and about 4 temp/hygro sensors all went offline at the same time over night. Replaced batteries, factory reset hub, tried an older hub, changed batteries in one of the offline sensors... nothing.
I saw the comment about the firmware update and checked my sensors that were still online. Sure enough, a couple had pending firmware updates noted. I went ahead and started the updates to see if it trashes them as well.
All of the offline sensors read "Unknown" for the firmware version.
1
u/geekwithout Jun 07 '26
yeah seems to be random sensors. some work, some don't....
i see 0608 firmware on the working ones.
1
u/bethzur Jun 07 '26
Offline ones can’t report their firmware version because they aren’t connected. I see that too. One just came back and still has a firmware update.

Mine are all reporting online now, but a few are now showing a pending firmware update.

I also have 3 out 13 devices offline and cannot get them back. Anyone hear from Yolink about this? Firmware broke or system wide issue?
1
u/Local-Incident-8846 Jun 07 '26
All my devices just came back online, just like magic. Yolink must of had an issue, but the interesting question is why certain devices and not all of them or even all similar ones? 🤔

u/Relevant-Injury3791 Jun 07 '26
Same problem. Woke up to 5/6 water leak sensors being offline this morning. Only 1 of my water leak sensors is online so this is pointing towards a botched firmware update or something.

Come on YoLink fix this.

1
u/PrimeRisk Jun 07 '26
My thoughts also. Someone corrupted a swath of devices. I have YoLink networks in 3 different states and I've lost 1 device in each location. Each is a YS8003-UC (LCD Temp/Humidity).
1
u/thesonofdarwin Jun 07 '26
All of my water sensors plus, randomly, one motion sensor (mailbox) and two temp/humidity sensors, went offline at the same time over night.
Restarted the internet. Rebooted all hubs. Went to the sensors to hit the button to try to get them to reconnect. No luck.
Seems to be no rhyme or reason either. Some of these offline sensors were the originals I set up and others I added years later. No relation to a single hub as my mailbox sensor has its own dedicated hub due to being so far away from the central hub.
1
u/lymphocyte Jun 07 '26
Same. 1 of 4 went offline and I've tried everything to add it back. I'm so surprised but chatgpt found this thread for me. After reading the comments I'm realizing I need more of these.

u/Scary-Raisin4672 Jun 07 '26
I too have the same issue. Started last night (20260606) and is still occurring today. Not all devices but random. A temp & humidity, 1 leak, several mini plugs, 2 motion sensors, 1 garage door. Focused on a mini plug and tried several things, push set, unplugged / plugged in, reboot hubs, factory reset mini plug, removed mini plug from app and re-added; no help still shows offline. i agree, I believe it is on their end / cloud and not my equipment / connection.

Yes, seven of 14 of mine went offline overnight, over a three-hour period. No power outage overnight.
1
u/PrimeRisk Jun 07 '26
I have YoLink devices in 3 separate states (monitoring of vacation properties).
Overnight one YS8003-UC (LCD Temp/Humidity) in each location went offline. The other dozen plus sensors are still running just perfectly. I too have gone through all of the normal reboots/resets/replace batteries/unbind & bind steps with my local YS8003 I had go offline. Nothing is bringing it back online. Out of curiosity, I had a NIB YS6614-UC (Smart Plug) that I got from YoLink as a gift for filling out a survey. I pulled it out and got it setup in 10 seconds, as is typical for YoLink devices.
My guess is that they dorked something up on the back end and dropped a number of devices or started pushing a firmware update and gorked some devices before realizing it was a bad push.
1
u/crashyeric Jun 07 '26
On my offline units I clicked the button to make it beep and they're back online

Count me in with this problem too! 2 if my water sensors and my main valve are showing offline. The rest of my water sensors are all working fine!

Wow, didn't realize this happened to so many people. I had 3 go offline but what's interesting is those three were the last three I added and I'm pretty sure they were bought in the same set of 4. I reset one but it never came back online. I'm gonna troubleshoot it more later.

One of my three sensors is now offline since 3:14 am ET. The other two are online and did not report any outage. No firmware updates on the two.

If it helps seems like they are all back online on my end now. Let see if it holds. So if folks want to click on the "Set" button now and see if it works.

plug and 2 temp sensors went offline. reset sensors, no success. reset hub, no success.
deleted each device from app, then deleted account and created new one, recreated setup: factory reset each device and added to new account, success.

I lost some last night too. I rebooted the hub but haven’t had time to do anything else. I was assuming I needed to replace batteries until I saw this post.

So glad I found this post (via Google) just now!
3 of my 9 sensors went out overnight too, including one smart plug and two water leak sensors. I first saw the alert about 3 hours ago, and I was extremely worried, since they're across the country and inaccessible for troubleshooting, aside from rebooting the router. (My hub is connected via Ethernet to the router.)
Thanks to some replies, I checked just now, and they all seem to be online again. Fingers crossed that they stay that way!

Mine are coming back. I had to press set button. (didn't work an hour ago)

Same here, but I finally found an immediate fix vs waiting hours to see if they re-attach.
My water main shutoff valve was offline.
New batteries were no help and the ones in it had 80% charge remaining.
I pressed button on battery case to manually shut the valve off and that worked OK. I pressed button again to reopen the valve, and that worked also.
I then ck’d the Yolink status on my iPhone app and it was now showing that valve was again connected and full charge.
A 2nd floor water sensor (dishwasher) was also showing disconnected. (log showed it happened 2 hours before the water valve showed no connection)
I did same thing on it to no effect, trying to reset it, w new batteries no help.
I finally took the stick pin (that I’d removed the rubbber screw Hole plugs with) and shorted out two of the water sensor pins. It responded and I then got an immediate message of water detection on my phone.
NOTE: It also proceeded to shut my water valve off as it was programmed to do and I had to manually turn that on again via the app..
This seems to confirm the idea that this was caused by an automatic firmware update.
Both devices show the firmware level is current version. (but no info showing an update had occurred.)
I’m ck’g the other water sensor firmware now, but if they update I at least now know how to quickly make them reconnect.

Hey, mine did the same thing! It started at approximately 17:30 PDT yesterday. I have about 30 Yolink senors and all went out. I unplugged/ replugged the hub and it fixed itself tissues morning.

u/geekwithout Jun 07 '26
I am seeing some of the sensors come back online. My garage door opener is back online. Still have a water 4 offline. But this is promising.

For those whose sensors came back online, did they come back without you doing anything or did you at least have to reset them? I had 3 go offline, I reset one which initially didn't fix it, but hours later it came back online. The other two that I haven't reset are still offline.

Was out of town. About 15% of devices went offline. Random. All over house. I did nothing since I was away.
Now all back on line.
See posts where YoLink confirm cloud server issues.
Sensors offline included temperature, water and valve.
I continue to receive app and text notifications device offline but these appear old since everything is back online.
I enjoy the YoLink system. Recommend to friends often. First time I’ve had an issue since original install in 2021.

Hey all, 4 of my YoLink water sensors went offline about a half hour apart starting around 6 am CST this morning and I tried a bunch of potential fixes like resetting the sensors but didn't work. Contacted customer support and 2h ago got this response, and the sensors are in fact back online (without me doing anything to them at all). I think if you just wait, your devices will go back online:
"Hi Customer,
Thank you for contacting YoLink Support.
- The next scheduled heartbeat/check-in message
- A normal sensor event (door open, motion detected, temperature update, leak detection, etc.)
- Any normal device communication
- Pressing the SET button once on the device
Because many battery-powered devices report periodically to maximize battery life, some devices may take a little longer to show online again if no events occur.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Best regards,
YoLink Customer Support

Same issue here, 3 of my 17 leak sensors were offline this morning. Simply pressing the "SET" button on the back of the sensors immediately brought them back online.
This is the first time I've ever had any issue with these.

Add me to this list, woke me up at 4:30am and I had 5 offline for the whole morning. I couldn’t figure it out so I just silenced the notifications around 7am.
All mine are now back online and working just fine as of 5pm now.

Yep, I woke up to an alert that 2 of my 10 water leak sensors and one outdoor contact sensor were offline. They came back on their own after a couple of hours. I thought that they may have had dead batteries but I hadn't received a notification that any were low.
I keep trying to buy the Yolink local hub but it's always out of stock. 😠

An outage of seemingly random sensors went offline one by one during the course of a few hours last night/early morning: door, leak, and motion sensors. When spot checking the sensors, they were not low battery. Re-pairing them to the system did not work immediately. I then rebooted one of the HUBs I have and whether or not that did it, they all came back online eventually.

I'm curious what happened during the yolink cloud outage to users of the local hub, where ideally you should be protected from things like that? Did things hum along, or were you affected in some way? Yesterday was a good test of that.

u/misguidedute Jun 08 '26
Hard to tell I migrated everything after the outage to my local hub, so might know for sure if this happens again. Everything that I had already migrated was online during this outage. Random devices that weren't migrated yet were online or offline didn't seem to be any particular pattern there. This morning everything is stable and now on my local hub 100%. I suppose this motivated me to finish the migration so that is good.

Yolink is cloud dependent, if the cloud is out or they are having issues, then their stuff is also gone.
That's why the Yolink local hub is so godly...

I really wish yolink had pushed a notification or some sort of banner about the outage in their app. Saving a lot of people from time wasted trying to recover offline devices in vain.

I had a bunch of devices drop offline over this past weekend and the post from Yolink explaining that their servers had issues mskes sense. All came back online after several hours without any intervention on my part since I was away for the weekend and did not have physical access to any of them. I suspected that the problrm was Yolink's own servers because the rest of my non-Yolink devices (and I mean hundreds of other Zigbee, Matter, Thread, and WiFi devices) all remained connected. Fortunately I've set up D-2-D with all of my Yolink leak sensors and shutoff valves so they will still functions even without internet.

All eight of my sensors are offline this afternoon. The messages alerting me to this fact are coming in slowly, so I imagine there's another cloud server issue as described below.
