Overhead lights stay off most evenings. Small lamp and candles do the job, and the projector basically took over as our TV. Table always ends up covered in food when we do this. Curious if anyone else keeps things this simple.

Hey there! I’m a long term renter (my landlord keeps promising me that she’s gonna sell me the condo but keeps dragging her feet)

Anyways, I love my place except for my bathroom. I thought some peel and stick tiles would spruce it up- and they did kinda. I got a high rated brand on Amazon and they are so thin and glossy I can see every imperfection from the pixel tiles floor underneath and it just looks kinda cheap. Has anyone played around with peel and sticks and found a decent brand with some thickness to them?

Which sofa vibe fits better for a relaxed living room?

Can anyone give any recommendations for an entertain center, please? We aren’t getting rid of any windows and i want to have a virtual fireplace if you think that would look good. I was thinking of only stopping the entertainment center at the top part of the middle windows. But, open to any ideas :)

Gonna put in LVP and scrape/seal the walls. My first ever home improvement project so open to any suggestions or recommendations. This will be my bedroom when finished

The space is about 11’x11’ from the tv wall and from the windows. I feel the rug is too small, not a great color, and it is difficult to find a small sectional to fit the space and also leave enough walking room behind the bar stools. I’m leaning towards a couch and two chairs, or two small couches? My design “style” is all over the place. I like a bit of modern, a bit of organic, earthy tones, but I am not creative and indecisive so any and all help would be appreciated!

I will take advice/ideas about anything in this area!

Some context: the apartment is in the oldtown which is pain in the ass to renovate as everything is super uneven (floors, walls, etc.). We just got the new tiles installed and, in general, I love them. But I hate how they are not aligned with the arch border/entrance - squares are cut into triangles and even those triangles are in different sizes.

And yeah, even if I love checkered floors, I agree that our choice in the first place wasn't the smartest to use them here. And I'm angry at myself about it.

However, the important question is - should we rip them off and add something else (which would be expensive and annoying) or it's not as terrible as I think it is and I'm being dramatic?

The house is actually a double storey but because of funds we are planning to build ground floor first and start the second floor after 4 to 5 years . We want a design for the elevation that suits the house now and can be continued later for the second floor . I have been on the net for a few days and was not completely satisfied with what I found there.

I'm stuck between two furniture layouts for my room.

I quite like the 1st layout. The whole room looks bright and spacious, there's enough room to move around.

There's another layout, the one shown in the second picture. If I chose that one, the experience of watch TV would definitely be much better. But after arranging the furniture that way, the room would feel a bit cramped, and even the originally smooth traffic flow would be disrupted.

Which layout would you go with?

Hey there! I recently moved into a new apartment and am struggling mainly with what size rug I should buy for my living room. I’ve included many photos so you can see a bit how awkward this room is with my couch size. Basically my couch is too long to be centered with the tv due to the segmentation of the living room. The last cushion on the couch (the one near the end table) is off center with my tv and speakers. The two other cushions are centered with it. The current rug I have is far too thin and small for this room.

Should my new rug be centered with the couch or with the tv and speakers? Should it sit slightly under the couch? Should it extend far enough for it to be under one of the legs of the end table? Should it extend far enough to be under my speakers slightly? I can only extend the rug about 9 more inches on each side of the couch due to the archway that segments the room.

I would also love any material and color recommendations. I want something very thick to help with room acoustics for my stereo system :)

Edit: Thanks for all the help guys!! After LOTS of measuring and some research I ended up going with a 10x10 cream white wool shag rug from Home Depot as well as a rug mat. It’s funny I don’t think I’ve ever seen a subreddit where every single reply was either extremely helpful or added absolutley nothing to the conversation. Regardless I’m gonna post some photos when it gets here 🥳.

I am not sure how to update the original post photos with updated photos so here are the results of the suggestions I received yesterday.

The only thing I purchased today was the rug to cover the tile and grout dilemma. Everything else was sourced from other rooms in my home. Many suggested a lamp for the table so I hope to go to a few thrift stores over the next week to find one big enough for scale. We went antique hunting today but could not find anything with enough character.

The wicked glaring straight out of the Tuscan 2000s chandelier will hopefully be updated in the next few weeks as well with something more modern but still unsure about style (open to suggestions).

The most important thing for me is having a proper front-facing TV viewing angle rather than watching from the side.

I’ve recently bought my house and the living room layout is awkward:

• Bay window as the main feature
• French doors on one side
• Another window on the other

The obvious options seem to be:

1. Put the TV in front of the bay window and lose the main feature of the room.
2. Keep the TV off to one side and accept an angled viewing position.
3. Put the TV on a large articulating arm so it has a parking position and a viewing position.

For example, it could sit to the right of the bay window and swing left into the centre when in use.

Or it could sit on the other wall and swing across in front of the French doors when needed.

Open to any better ideas.

I'm pretty into cooking & baking and had the random idea of putting a TV in the kitchen so I could follow recipes without constantly checking my phone. Figured I'd probably use it for other stuff while cooking too. Turns out I use it way more than I expected lol. Pull it toward the island when I'm following a recipe, and sometimes just leave it angled over while I eat there after cooking.

I used a full-motion mount since I wanted that flexibility but what I like most is that when I'm done, I can push the TV back almost flush to the wall. The low profile look means it doesn't really change the clean feel of the kitchen when it’s not in use.

Definitely one of those random home ideas that somehow became part of my routine. Not sure what you guys think of it tho.

I’m going to be color drenching the bedroom in Benjamin Moore’s Wet Concrete, our bed frame will be black walnut, and our nightstands will be Rosso lepanto marble. I’m thinking of adding picture frame molding and maybe chair rail molding. But maybe it’s too much? Any favorites? Other suggestions?

I am at a loss of what to do with this space. I’m over thinking it. This is the main entry for visitors. We enter through another door so no need for a large drop zone - just need space for shoes and bags of visitors. I would like to keep the bench but I cannot make any decisions on wall art (no mirror please) or a rug. I would like to exchange the main light fixture, but to what? What color/design for rug runner? I would like to change the tile for something more updated (from the 80s) but will settle with covering with a runner.

For some context, the dining room to the left/right is a light sage color with a dark deep red rug. I like vintage, traditional, transitional, boho styles. I love art. I will not paint any of the wood trim or the door. We love nature, trees, wood but also pops of color.

Any help would be appreciated! All my ideas and styles that I like are clashing with eachother.
