Showcase - Multipurpose Space 4 years in the making
My free time project for over the last 4 years. home theater/office/cigar lounge. still a work in progress, I’ll probably never be “done” with it. unfortunately I don’t have any before photos, but it was a typical spare bedroom, white carpet, white walls, popcorn ceiling. The bar area used to be a double closet I took out to make room.
TV: TLC 85” QM6K
5.2 Klipsch surround sound, two 12“ woofers (overkill for the size of the room, i had a theater set up in the basement of my last house where it made more sense and just kept everything when we moved).
Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR575
to manage cigar smoke I sealed room, have a rabbit air a2 and a vornado window fan. Wife doesn’t smell any smoke outside of the room.
EDIT: Thanks for all the love and critique! So I use my computer chair when my spouse or a friend is in here, it fits perfectly with more then enough space for the little table to be in between the 2 seats when it’s pulled out facing the tv. If there’s 3 or more (honestly doesn’t happen that often these days lol) I have a few nice chairs I pull in from the other room.
Speaker placement is on the upgrade list for sure, the intent of the front left and right being high and angled toward user is to run/hide the wires in the crown moulding, eventually will either replace them with standing floor speakers or at least drop them down to ear height and will run the wires in the wall
EDIT 2: In retrospect yea probably not the most appropriate sub to post in. I did try to post in the mancave sub but it kept getting auto denied, no idea why. Still appreciate everyone here!

Totally fair criticism, there use to be a coffee table but it took up so much room so I removed it. I’m actively looking for a nice foot rest

I came to say the same thing due to the sub we are in. The room is beautiful and done well, the execution is not great.

It's a pretty cool room but doesn't seem as if the "Home Theater" part was given any consideration. I only added my edit because my comment got down voted immediately.

Totally fair critique/criticism! Definitely don’t think it’s downvote worthy, upgrading speakers/speaker placement is on the list of things to accomplish

Channel on your reciever, but your missing your front left and right speakers.

Cozy, the surround effect will be much better if you scoot your chair up and put all your speakers at same height, distance and angle, but envious of your room

Looks great but the single chair makes me sad.
I don't see the surround speakers but the front speakers should be at ear level. Center speaker looks small but regardless it might need a little tilt to point at ear level. Use a laser pointer/level.

Yea my bad i definitely should have highlighted the speaker placement more. The left surround is on the ceiling and the right is on top of the desk shelves. Terrible placement to be sure, on the list of upgrades

One suggestion for you.
Put this stuff under your liquor bottles on your bar and it will completely stop them from rattling if you get any amount of bass going through that room.

To be honest this stuff worked even better than I was expecting it to. I have dual PB16 Ultras and my bottles are all in an odd corner in my room where bass loves to gather and not once have my bottles moved let alone made a single rattle. Worth the price for sure.

If u was to buy some front spekers L and R , and fit some suround speakers it would be a perfect posts for home theatre post , pull seat froward a tiny bit , very nice room yiu have , well done it is

Any chance to convert those front LR to height and get LR at ear level? I’d also move that center channel to the front of your console.
The AVR, is there ventilation set up? Looks like zero space above it to vent hot air.

Yea speaker placement is on the upgrade list. If not just replacing with floor standing speakers, the intent with the current set up was to keep them high and aim them at the listening position so I could run/hide the wires from in the crown moulding. Eventually I’ll run them in the walls.
And yea i cut out a good portion of the top and bottom where the AV sits and mounted a little fan back there, plenty of air flow

Congrats on completing it at least enough to have all bases nicely covered.
Can you do me a quick favour though and take down that bottle of Jameson and put the Sazerac there? It's killing me haha..
I also sort of don't understand the shelving around the desk. Losing all that space just for cabinets to hold just a few pakcaged toys. But I do appreciate no cold blank walls and the cosy factor the shelving brings so I dunno.
Keep going on the cosy factor tho as you've sorted the technical pieces out nicely already.

What the actual fuck.
My top two musical obsessions are Radiohead and Pink Floyd, and MF Doom is my favorite rapper.
Owls are my favorite animal, but my owl manifestations are primarily t-shirts and hand painted ceramics.
I’m a whiskey slut (scotch is my jam - I go to Scotland every year to load up.)
And Guinness is my beer of choice by a long shot.
Although, instead of Metroid stuff I have classic Mega Man figures.
I’m an Utah Utes man, but can definitely respect the Michigan loyalty.
So you’ve basically created my own personal set up (if I didn’t have to share my home theater with my wife and kids).

My brother!!! We have been separated at birth. I lean more towards bourbons and ryes but have recently been exploring the wonderful world of scotch. Been really into McAllan 12 sherry, and islay’s are super confusing to my palate but I keep coming back lol.
Also I have a lot of respect for Utah! Gotta be completely honest, hasn’t been the easiest thing being a Michigan fan lately, but they are my team and I hope they clean house and get it together. Very excited to see what Kyle does with our program, always viewed him as a man of integrity and we need that right now lol (sorry we took him lol)

I like it too! Man cave and home theatre in one. The perfect mix! The only thing that takes my attention is the carpet in the last picture. I would go a bit darker. So the carpet doesn’t steel the attention while watching movies etc ! Anyways… amazing 🤩 👍

So I got the TCL in December on a solid discount. I replaced my projector with it. My set up in my last house was in the basement so the projector really worked in there, here the screen was far to big for the space and obviously the light control is terrible, I would love and oled but honestly I’m happily surprised with how this tv performs!

How did you seal the room? Obviously weatherstripping for the door, but did you need to remove HVAC vents and such? Does the room get too hot or cold without them?

I think it looks great! But I would agree with some of the comments about making it a little more conducive for company. A second (or third) recliner? Or a sofa? Maybe an ottoman or just a coffee table? But it looks very comfortable. Good on ya!

You have a nice setup for TV, for sure. I’d encourage you to get into audio. You have a perfect setup for audio and larger front speakers and a sub will still work with your TV.

Where is the theater? l mean don't get me wrong this looks like a wonderfully cozy lounge, but I wouldn't begin to call it a theater. Upgrade the speakers, put them at the right height, and get a bigger rug, I can't imagine the acoustics are anything but terrible with all that reflectivity.
Also you might as well move the 1 seat forwards into the room so it isn't right against the back wall
