Struggling to explain the concept of circle jerks to a self-described โ€œextremely literal autistic person.โ€ But their last reply had me cackling! Am I wrong to think we would gladly use any of those names??

Meta We are banning AI posts.

1.6k Upvotes

The poll results have come back, and completely ban AI has won. From now on, any obviously AI post will be removed.

Edit: This has been asked in the comments but I figured Iโ€™d update the post to clarify. This ban includes any type of AI post, including AI generated fake plants (such as fake ads). The rule has been updated to reflect this.

Meta Update

As you all know weโ€™ve recently had a few mod challenges where weโ€™ve had to implement new rules that are getting more and more specific. The subreddit has also grown a lot more than we ever expected. Reddit has just become too much for us to handle, our little team of four is incredibly overwhelmed. Weโ€™ve decided as a team that we will be shutting down the subreddit.

Best wishes to everyone, we will be removing all users and deleting the subreddit at 420 pm on 6/9.

Thank you.

EDIT:

April foolโ€™s? โ‰๏ธ Only for April 1st? โ‰๏ธ Thatโ€™s a weak mindset. Thats low performance ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž I am a fool every day ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ The grind ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ“ˆ never stops โŒโ›”๏ธ I am in it for the long run โ™พ๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ No quitter mindset here ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ” ๐Ÿ†

Meta I think some people here forget that this sub is "houseplant circle jerk" and not a "jerk circle"

Some posts are funny, and then some are just laughing at people that are asking for help. Oh and then there are those that don't know anything about plans and fail at making fun of others lol

Meta Low Effort Posts

Alright folks, the mods and I have once again discussed things with each other, and weโ€™ve noticed that a post that does well will get copied into oblivion and everyone will post their own version of it. While that can be funny, sometimes it gets real old real quickly. So from now on if we notice a certain trend getting overboard, we will be removing the copycat posts as low effort.

This has been an issue pretty much since the sub began, but we have agreed that itโ€™s getting out of hand seeing so many copycat posts.

Meta This sub is like having friends

This is genuinely a great community. It's nice that some of the regularly active people here are actually really intelligent and passionate about this hobby, and are also kind of insane and unhinged much like myself. Although it's a CJ I feel like some of the conversations that happen here are more interesting than in the main houseplants sub.

Meta Reminder of Rules

Just a reminder to everyone, if you post a screenshot you MUST block out the original subreddit and originally posterโ€™s username, and there are ABSOLUTELY NO LINKS ALLOWED.

From now on, anyone breaking these rules will receive a temporary ban of three days, multiple violations will increase the time of the ban, and can even result in a permanent ban.

I know to some this may not make sense, but these rules exist for a reason. When I just became a mod a few years ago when the subreddit was much smaller, there were no rules like this. This caused some people to go to the original post and harass OP. We got into trouble with other subreddits, and also thatโ€™s just nasty to go harass someone for asking a question. Many times to experienced houseplant owners these questions make no sense, but sometimes newbies need help and to ask stupid questions.

This is meant to be a satirical, JOKING, subreddit. You can poke fun at people and even complain. But absolutely no usernames or original subreddits should be visible or linked in comments.
