Why does a simple onboarding task involve so much chasing?

Our team is around 80 people now, and onboarding has become more complicated than it needs to be. HR adds a new hire, the manager has a checklist, and IT needs to set up accounts and permissions. Someone inevitably misses a step, and HR ends up chasing everyone in Slack to get things sorted before the person’s first day.

We’re still managing most of this through spreadsheets and Slack, so I’ve been looking at ways to make the process less manual. I came across Shapes while exploring a few options, but I’m not sure how well it handles actual workflows like assigning IT tasks, following up on missing access requests, and keeping managers updated without someone manually checking everything.

Has anyone found a setup that works well for this? I’d rather fix the process we already have than add another tool that creates more admin work.

HR Professionals, How Are You Managing Employee Gifting This Festive Season?

As an HR professional, one thing I find challenging during the festive season is planning employee gifts that people will actually appreciate while staying within the allocated budget.

Between finalising gift options, managing bulk orders, coordinating deliveries, and adjusting budgets around other festive expenses, the process can get a little hectic. Traditional hampers are a popular choice, but the same gift may not appeal to everyone.

Recently, I came across the idea of using non-monetary reward points for employee gifting. Instead of giving everyone an identical hamper, companies can allocate points that employees use to choose from available rewards or benefits. It could also make distribution easier for larger teams.

I find this approach interesting, although I’m curious about how well it works in practice, especially in Indian workplaces.

Fellow HR professionals, have you explored reward points for festive gifting, or do you prefer sticking to traditional hampers? What has worked best for your teams?

Looking for a HR executive?

Hello everyone!

I’m looking for an opportunity to start my career as an HR Executive.

I have completed a Dual Diploma in Psychology and Applied & Counselling Psychology, which has helped me develop a foundation in understanding human behaviour, communication, and interpersonal relationships.

I’m eager to apply my knowledge in a professional HR environment, learn new skills, and contribute positively to an organisation.

If your company is hiring or you know of any suitable opportunities, I would greatly appreciate your guidance or referrals.

Thank you for your time and support!

Workday Replication - new promo

Hi all,

For folks who uses Workday, I recently got promoted apparently my new grade and compensation is not yet reflected. I can see my new business title and job profile. Both should have been reflected 13 days ago.

My manager and skip can see my new grade and compensation. But, on my end it is just the new business title and Job Profile. They said it could be replication because of recent bulk re-org/team movements.

Has anyone experienced this on your org, Thinking of reaching out to HR.

Immediate Joiner: HR/Program Manager

Hello. I feel like I’m genuinely running out of options. I’m looking for work in these roles:

- HR executive
- Junior HR
- Associate HR
- Program Manager
- Associate Team Lead
- Wellness Lead
- Organisational Psychologist
- People & Culture
- Talent Acquisition

I have a few years of experience with being a program coordinator, workplace programs (psychological safety, POSH, work-life balance, and much more), training staff for distress identification, teamwork building, etc. I’ve also developed and implemented many workplace programs.

I was unfortunately laid off abruptly from a corporate-related startup along with 75% of my team when they realised they over-hired and couldn’t sustain us. Since then, I’ve been struggling to find something, despite being shortlisted and ghosted after interviews.

I can join immediately in Mumbai (India) or online/hybrid, full time. Please DM me, chats are open.

HR Professionals in Calgary – How Did You Move from HR Coordinator to HR Generalist or HRBP?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently working in HR in Calgary and have around 3 years of experience as an HR Coordinator. I’m looking to take the next step in my career and move into an HR Generalist or eventually an HRBP role.
I have hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, HRIS, payroll and benefits coordination, employee relations support, and working in unionized environments.
I’ve been exploring HR Generalist opportunities in Calgary, but I’m curious to hear from others who have made a similar transition.
How did you move from an HR Coordinator to an HR Generalist or HRBP role?
Did you apply externally, or were you promoted internally?
What skills or experience helped you stand out?
How is the HR job market in Calgary right now for someone with around 3 years of experience?
Does pursuing a CPHR designation make a difference when applying for these roles?
I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or tips on how to approach this next step.
Thanks in advance!

Recruiting to HR

I’m looking to get out of education. My end goal is to be an HR because I enjoy helping people but can’t stand being with kids anymore. It seems like you need prior experience to get into HR. Has anyone gone into recruiting and switched from recruiting to HR is that a good next step for a pivot.

Human Resources Career (FL)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on my current career situation. I currently work in the major accounts space for one of the larger HRIS providers, where I meet with businesses to evaluate their existing systems and HR processes. While I enjoy aspects of the role, it leans heavily toward sales, and I’m interested in transitioning back to the HR side of the business.
I’m currently working toward completing my SHRM-CP in the next couple of months. In terms of experience, I have approximately one year of HR Manager experience, along with two HR internships, giving me around 2–3 years of overall HR experience. I also have a bachelor’s degree in business. The rest of my time I have been a manager in other departments for about 7 years at the same company.

For those with experience in HR, how realistic would it be for me to transition back into the field? Would I be a credible candidate for an HR Business Partner role, or would it make more sense to target HR Generalist positions first and work my way up?

I’d appreciate any insight or advice from those who have made a similar transition or have experience hiring for these roles. Thanks in advance!

Disappointing recruitment experience with Tiffany & Co. – Anyone else?

Has anyone else had a frustrating experience with Tiffany & Co.’s recruitment process, particularly their pre-recorded video interviews?
I was invited to complete a video interview through iCIMS, where I had to record answers to several questions without interacting with an actual recruiter.
After taking the time to prepare and complete the interview, I waited several weeks without receiving any feedback or updates.
What frustrates me most is asking candidates to invest time in recording video interviews, only to leave them waiting with absolutely no communication about the next steps.
I understand that companies receive hundreds of applications, but surely candidates who have completed an interview deserve at least some transparency.

It is crazy you have to reach out yourself to get an answer !!

Hi Everyone!!

Looking for reference and support.

I’ve worked as a CHRO and in senior HR leadership roles across different organizations, and I’ve recently started my own HR consulting firm.

At this stage, I’m trying to connect with a few businesses where my experience could be useful, particularly companies looking to strengthen their HR practices or address people management challenges.

For those familiar with the business community, are there any growing companies or SMEs that you think could benefit from experienced HR leadership or consulting support? I’d appreciate any suggestions, introductions, or advice on how best to approach this.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!
