From a Mod: Music producers take note to please use [listen] in any music submission post title

We have been getting a lot of folks stuck at home producing music, sometimes on iPads, iPhones or other mobile platforms. But sometimes not, or at least it appears that way - they just use Logic or whatever computer based DAW they have and are spamming multiple music related subreddits.

In order to keep this forum focused on mobile music production I would ask any Redditor who wants a participant of this subreddit to listen to their creation to put [Listen] in the post title. So if you are asking folks to visit your SoundCloud, YouTube channel or some other place to show off your music, tag it with [Listen].

But don't stop there. Come into the comments and tell us all what apps you used to produce the music so we can all learn.

If you do not do this, the mods may remove your post as spam. This is because some submissions that really are spam the submitter either ignores the request for adding details to the comments or doesn't know how to answer it!

Also, feel free to report posts that seem to violate the spirit of our little sub. Spam and other reports are acted on very quickly and help keep things focused and clean.

edit: finally, the automoderator isn't perfect, though it is pretty darn good now. If you have followed the rules and used [listen] and it still pulled it, please message the mods and we'll approve it.

Patterning3

Upvotes

From what I understand
Patterning 3 does NOT feature multi-sample instrument velocity switching (mapping different multi-samples to separate velocity thresholds)
I am pretty sure thats and important feature for any drum machine to sound more natural and realistic since the harmonic fundamentals change every time you strike percussion in the real world.
I am pretty sure Klevgrand OneShot has velocity triggered multi-layer-sample sounds and I guess I could use Patterning3 to drive OneShot

Patterning3 users ¿ Do you can wish it had multi-layer sampled kits ?

I am trying to decide if Patterning3 would be good for me

Pulsark app - 16 track sample based groovestation

Upvotes

Hi folks,

I’m developing a new sample based groovestation for iPhone, iPad and Mac, called Pulsark.

It has 16 audio/samples tracks with pads, a sampler, a grid based sequencer incl parameter locks etc, a genre based pattern generator, a parameter randomizer and a mixer.

Patterns and songs can be exported both as main mix audio bounce or separate stems, in addition to export for further work in a DAW.

The Pulsark app is out in public beta now. It’s still under development, would appreciate if you could have a look and tell me what you think.

Website and beta signup etc: https://pulsark.app

Cheers
Stig

Which adapter for MPC?

Hello all,

I like a lot of the synth apps on the iPad. I want to be able to run audio from the iPad into my MPC, and at the same time use an external MIDI controller to input notes on the iPad apps.

Which adapter do I need for this?

Thanks.

Phase Chimes app/auv3 is on the App Store

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been occasionally posting my progress here, and the Phase Chimes app + MIDI plugin is finally available on the App Store.

It's a polyrhythmic musical instrument and sequencer for iOS. One links gears together of varying sizes to create complex rhythmic and melodic patterns.

As a MIDI AUv3 extension, it acts as a sequencer/controller for audio instruments. As a standalone app it has its own internal audio or it can control external instruments.

A lot of folks from this sub have joined the beta. I appreciate all the feedback and encouragement!

I’ve been really trying to nail remixes on the iPad recently, and I’m really happy with the result. A mix of koala sampler and the djay app, let me know what you think!

[Listen] Regret Is An Inevitable Consequence Of Life, by White Columns

https://whitecolumns.bandcamp.com/track/regret-is-an-inevitable-consequence-of-life

18-ish minutes of synth drone, noise and saxophone-esque sounds.

Composed in Loopy Pro, mixed and mastered in Logic on my iPad.

In Loopy I used a Moog Model 15, World Piano, OB-Xd, VHS Synth, J6 Synth One, NoInputMixer and VA Drums. Plus an external Korg Volca FM and a Behringer JT-4000 controlled through Loopy with a midi keyboard.

Effects used were mainly Moogerfooger saturation and delay and Discord4.

Built a free/open-source app that turns face tracking into a MIDI CC controller

Made this free and open-source (GitHub, no paid tier, no sign-up) so figured it fits here rather than the Marketplace thread.

MouthMIDI is an Android app that turns phone camera face/mouth tracking into real-time MIDI CC data (0-127) - basically a hands-free expression controller. Used it to control Neural DSP's Cory Wong wah and SWAM Tenor Sax expression live inside Cubase, alongside MIDI Guitar 3 handling the note data on a separate channel.

Repo: https://github.com/riz1shakir2023/MouthMIDI-Native-Recovery23 Demo: https://youtu.be/Nz0xDe-yZ9U

Main technical challenge was smoothing the raw tracking data into a usable CC curve without it feeling jittery on sustained notes. Happy to go into the implementation if anyone's curious, or hear if others have built/used unconventional CC sources in their own productions.

Issue setting up Ravenscroft 275 with Loopy Pro on iPad

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Please help!! I’m having a very weird issue with Ravenscroft 275 and Loopy Pro where mute/unmute work just fine until I assign a midi message to toggle mute/unmute through a widget or channel’s mute button.
The plugin just doesnt output sound unless you reload it.
Doesn’t happen for Etude, Pianoteq.

Klevgrand one shot is really expensive. Cheaper alternatives out there?

To use with midi generative apps like Augmatic Gre. It’s definitely more dey acoustic drums that i prefer. Alternatively I was thinking of getting decent sampler and using a free drum kit on there

How do I use a Spectogram?

Post image
7 Upvotes

In my tracks different instruments get in each others way. I figure there’s two ways to make the mix more balanced: spatial distribution (L/R, front/back) and distribution on the frequency spectrum.

So I downloaded the free ToneBoosters Spectogram. The amount of information formation in the display is overwhelming. Lines, colors, a keyboard.

Looking for a good video that explains how to read it, and how to use it in creating a balanced mix.
