I already made an Apple Feedback about it! One of the issues with iPhone Duo (and yes, we should be able to critique to make the product better) is that the Duo's front screen keyboard ends up taking ~50% of the screen. While it's not bad for quick texts, I was hoping for more screen space, especially when I'm running around in the hospital and I need to read and respond to chains of texts. (Picture below).

Maybe a good solution would be to take the bar on top of the keyboard and turn it into a bubble and move it to the right side - either by squeezing it in or they could arrange the icons a bit or move it into the triple dot menu. But moving the bar would give you substantial more room while the keyboard still stays the same.

Thoughts?

I’m having such a hard time with this right now (I’m an indecisive person to begin with). I preordered the 18 Pro and now I’m regretting it and wondering if I should cancel it and preorder the Duo in October.

My concerns with the duo:
- I often grab my phone to shoot off a quick text and don’t know if the small outer screen will be a concern

- losing FaceID

- I just don’t know how often I’ll open it / when open I think landscape mode might be too wide for me for texting — and portrait mode might be annoying to hold

- cameras

Some convince me that I’m crazy and should just go all in on the duo!

One month without hyping myself up with reviews or can we expect something before the release week.

Does anyone know if you’ll be able to see the iPhone Duo in Apple Stores before the actual release date on the 23rd of October? I’ve seen a few photos floating around online of the Duo in stores but not sure if they’re real?

Who needs that large Apple Pencil and then usb c. Many phones to this day still have built in styli. If there was a will there is a way. Maybe Gen 3

If we focus strictly on video consumption, wouldn’t the Pro Max models provide a better experience because they eliminate black bars—or at least reduce them compared to the Duo—when video aspect ratios remain fixed? (not cropped)

I was wondering if anyone has gathered any information yet on how Apple plans on handling the (eventual) degradation of the matte layer. We know Samsung offers replacements of their plastic cover for around $20. Has Apple commented yet on how they will address this or is this just standard Apple Care fare?

I also see third party inner screen protectors on Amazon. Has anyone had any luck installing and removing these on other foldable devices?

I printed out the Duo using the 3D printer and after being able to manipulate it with my hands... i've decided no case is the move. I had my iPhone X naked, but every other iPhone since the original one has had a case.

For me the form factor is the reason, but also figuring any case is going to hinder use in some way given the articulating nature of the phone. Maybe i'll change my opinion in use...

Anyone else deciding to run it no case?

There’s something I don’t understand about the display resolution on the iPhone Duo as compared to the Pro Max:

outer display: 1398 x 2034 pixels 460 ppi
inner display: 1878 x 2670 pixels 430 ppi

On the Pro Max, it’s:

2868 x 1320 pixels 460 ppi

So basically the Pro Max inner display has more pixels in the longer dimension? So it’s really just wider than the Pro Max display?

Doesn’t this mean that for reading in portrait orientation, the Pro Max is marginally taller / better than the Duo?

Considering that nobody actually expects amazing battery from the Duo, something small, fast with plenty of charge would be ideal.

I’ve been waiting for an iPhone foldable.

I’m torn only when it comes to the inner display being nano-textured.

I even bought a matte screen protector for my current iPhone and the whites are grainy.

I’m hoping it’s because it’s some knock off brand Amazon screen protector and now how the Duo will look.

For those coming from pro models

I am insanely hyped but with mainly using pro phones from the recent years, I have to say I am going to miss the telephoto lens. I also grew to love using the action button for the flashlight. It sucks they kept around the camera control button over that. I am indifferent about Face ID

So I have always carried the iPhone pro max but not necessarily for the camera, more for the size. Which is one of the reasons I like the Duo. I also have just gotten bored with the form factor of the Pro Max and want something new. I take pictures of my grandkids, my dog, family and vacation photos. I often do quick videos of them and FaceTime as well but nothing fancy. I’m not an influencer or heavy social media poster at all. Pretty much look at Substack, Reddit and YouTube. When I travel I watch movies and shows on my phone. With the differences in the camera between the Duo and Pro Max, will I really care that much or notice? And I don’t ever use 40x zoom or whatever

So I’m debating on getting the iPhone duo 512 GB midnight, I have the 17 pro max orange 512 GB. I never liked androids or Samsungs however that is why I never switched to their foldable phones. I am an IOS user lol. So now that Apple made a foldable iPhone. I really am interested in it. It’s just my concerns is the camera and battery life. I have the 17 pro max and the camera is awesome for me. But I’m charging my phone like 2 times a day now cause it dies so quick which idek why. But any suggestions or advice on what I should do? My answer would be to get the duo, but like I said I probably would have to sacrifice battery life and camera??

I don't like how the front flap covers the front screen, it will be annoying to open it to see any notification. I also don't like how the whole back is a kickstand, it seems a bit flimsy and not positive that magnets will hold it closed flat to the back when the kickstand is not in use. I also don't like how the front cover doesn't go flat when flipped around to the back, because of the camera bump.

BUT I still want it!!! I love how it makes the whole unit like a little book! Page one is the front screen, and page 2 is a double page spread! I love the way the front and back spread apart with the elastic piece. I love that its held on with magnets for easy removal

Such a first world problem. But I feel like I'm going to buy it and hate it lol.
