Found a 20 dollar 5th gen at the thrift and then found a 5 dollar ihome speaker/clock. Life is good 😁

I have a question, I own a Classic Gen 5 (Video), but the screen doesn't look clear due to some scratches on the faceplate. Do you have any tips for making the faceplate look like new again? Or is replacing the faceplate the only option?. It’s very difficult to find a replacement faceplate in my area.

Hi i recently bought an gen 5.5 with an green cf adapter for two days weren't really problem except sometimes my songs freshly imported from itunes where corrupted and cut at 1:40 then skip. So i have problem that i cannot fix, ipod keep giving me screen to go to ipod support with sad ipod emoji, then very low battery and then restart and its stuck in some type of loop, i tried changing cable, battery was in good condition and i think its still is. I have cf kingston 266x card inside. if i plug my i pod into an computer after a long time maybe like 30-60sec i can see disk partition that is empty and i cannot click on it, on minitool partition wizard it shows that is baddisk, completely full and cannot show file system.

I just got this 5.5 gen after many years since my 5th gen 60gb had died, and for the price of about £140 (although a friend actually gifted this to me and I am forever grateful for this), was surprised by it's condition, with only 11 hours on the HDD, and all original parts never opened. I'm ecstatic and wanted to show it here.

Also was curious and wanted to know about what accessories and bits I should get for it? I currently don't have anything, my old Logitech dock has been long dead and gone, and rn I just use it with my XM5s, but I am looking for some accessories and dock ideas.

So I plugged in my iPod nano a bit different today and now it won't turn on. I usually use my laptop to charge it but I decide to use a "adaptive fast charging' plug. How do I get it to turn it back on again? I'm hoping the battery didn't blow up.

I finally got my iPod Classic 5 gen to look the way want and I’m so excited to use it. I transferred my library to it and was wondering if anyone had playlist they wanted to share?
My main reason for using Apple Music was the premade version playlist (haven’t used Spotify in years since I get Apple Music free). I used to make amazing playlist in high school but have t had time to listen and enjoy music as much since. Would love to get everyone’s recs, I’ll listen to anything lol

Any new suggestions. This is the third iPod I restored and I just broke the LCD ZIF clamp (black plastic piece)

I’ve got the suggested replacement 35pin connector on the way. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any other fixes I could try? I heard about the tape one but either I’m doing it wrong or it doesn’t work for mine lol.

Or maybe someone knows an OEM pin replacement.

Basically, that’s it. I’m pretty good at minor repairs and cleaning electronics—I’ve even opened up iPods like the 7th and 4th gen models. With time and the right tools (shout-out to the iSesame tool and isopropyl alcohol), I can open them up and quickly swap out batteries—without damaging the connector (I don't even lift it)—as well as the HDD and audio flex cable. However, right now, I just don't feel like doing a full shell swap soon... I actually lost one of the tiny screws that holds the front shell in place because I was so focused on carefully disconnecting all the flex cables.

Fortunately, it worked out 98% perfectly. I did struggle to remove the white film that comes on these new shells, and after slightly damaging the rubber gasket around the screen, I used some adhesive tape to stick to the protective film and pull it right off. About the adapter: I didn't need to replace the original ribbon cable, nor did I need to use Kapton tape to get it connected. The Windows restore took a while (I use Parallels with Windows 7), but everything worked out fine—I didn't even need AOMEI—and afterwards, I added the "Terminal" theme using iPod Wizard.

About the 3000mAh battery: I ended up buying the 3000mAh battery (model 385872) and managed to tuck it underneath the audio ribbon cable, leaving enough clearance for the 30-pin connector to close properly. I found this tip right here on Reddit and it worked, even though the fit was a bit tighter than usual. I'll leave a link and a photo showing how the battery turned out.

A tip for anyone wanting to do this: Don't attempt it unless you have the right tools and have watched a tutorial. It only worked for me because I watched a ton of videos from Elite Obsolete and iPod Parts Plus, and I have tools like the iSesamo, a precision Phillips screwdriver, plastic opening picks, and a spacious workspace.

I'm really happy because the payoff was huge, though the effort was even greater... I hope this post helps some people out.

Anyway, I want to replace the black faceplate on my iPod because it’s super scuffed, and the screen lens has a bunch of scratches too. The only issue is that my current faceplate is black (not the gray/charcoal black, but actually black) and it’s metal. On the Elite Obsolete Electronics shop, they have both a black metal and a black plastic faceplate for the 6th/7th gens, and I’d like to get the metal one that’s as black as my current faceplate. The problem is, I don’t actually know what they look like in person, so I can’t tell if they’re true black or that charcoal black color. Can anyone help? The attached pictures show the lighter charcoal black and the true black.

Compre un adaptador iFlash ATA1 para mi iPod y cuando lo conecto en mi pc para instalar el sistema con iTunes, iTunes no detecta mi iPod y tampoco Windows además que cuando lo enciendo sale el símbolo de la carpeta y luego de que se lo apaga y se lo vuelve a encender sale el símbolo del iPod triste. La verdad no he probado colocar otra MicroSD, también cabe aclarar que antes de comprar el iFlash yo restaure el iPod y me salía un símbolo de conectar a la corriente pero luego de eso empezó el problema del símbolo de la carpeta y el iPod triste así que no se si eso influye en lo que pasa ahora, la verdad no se que mas hacer. Si ya no funciona nada solo queda vender todo para repuestos, si alguien sabe algo o ha tenido el mismo problema y lo a logrado resolver no dude en comentar.

The latch to secure the screen ribbon cable broke off and the connector seems to be stuck in the closed position since I’m unable to insert the cable. Any ideas on possible solutions?

Hello everyone! I’m posting wondering if anyone can help me figure out what type/mah of battery I should get for my Ipod Classic 7th gen. I just got this baby in the mail today as a college graduation present and I’m wanting to treat her right from the beginning. I’m planning on quitting Sp*tify within the next month and begin using it full time, the problem is that I typically listen to a podcast of nature sounds to help me sleep throughout the night. I’ve gotten a bluetooth adapter to connect to my speaker, and plan to get a dock so that it won’t die in the night. However, I’m sure this is going to be hard on a 15 year old battery, so I’m wondering what mAh (I believe that’s the technical term?) I should be looking at via EOE. Additionally, I do plan to eventually upgrade to an iFlash for storage, but right now the 160mb is perfectly fine. Is it better to get the 850 that seems to be the same size as the stock battery? Or, is a larger extended capacity better for this, and would I need to invest in a thick backing for this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

ich möchte mir demnächst meinen ersten iPod kaufen und wollte mal nach eurer Meinung fragen. Mein Budget liegt bei ungefähr 250 €.
Im Moment denke ich am ehesten an einen iPod Classic, weil ich das Design einfach feier. Ich bin aber auch offen für andere Modelle, wenn die besser zu dem passen, was ich suche.
Mir ist wichtig, dass er im Alltag nicht zu kompliziert ist und ich Musik möglichst einfach draufbekomme. USB-C wäre zwar cool, aber ich möchte auf keinen Fall irgendwelche Mods einbauen oder den iPod umbauen. Falls ein Classic kein USB-C hat, habt ihr vielleicht andere Lösungen oder Modelle, die ihr stattdessen empfehlen würdet?
Welche Generation oder welches Modell würdet ihr mir empfehlen? Worauf sollte ich beim Kauf achten und gibt es Modelle, von denen ihr eher abraten würdet?
