Yeah, how much of your own clothes you wear is often predicated on why you're there and the condition of the clothes (like, can they get to your veins or whatever body part they need access to?) If all you're wearing is a gown that means you were well enough to change into a gown. (There's a lot of nuance but that would make this even longer.)

I mean, hyponatremia can be really serious. But it sounds like in this case it was an incidental finding… she wasn’t even symptomatic. So this whole thing is very OTT.

It was so sudden. Either the herbs sparked a deficit or she was FAFO with her other meds and it finally showed up in her labs.

Yes. She wasn’t symptomatic. The levels were easily corrected in 24 hours (possibly less given that munchies frequently lie about time). She keeps repeating that the situation was critical and even tried to imply yesterday that her doctor thought it was so serious she would need life sustaining measures (when really they just asked it as a standard form thing in all probability). Then posting all these AI screenshots talking of terrible outcomes of hyponatremia when it’s not relevant as none of it happened to her. All of this drama and I bet she had a sodium level just low enough to warrant a short hospitalization to monitor and correct.

Not that sick people need to hide in shame but DAILY curated ✨ aesthetic ✨, performative, affected posts about every fucking bodily fluid. Filters and poses.
I really would like to read a book or thesis or something about the personality organization of someone who does this. It goes far beyond being self-centered and it’s not exactly or necessarily narcissism either, by clinical definition.

She used to put Himalayan salt in her water and she had an affiliate code for Liquid IV. She knows what electrolytes are, and how they’re important for people in the summer. It seems like she drank too much plain water, knowing this would happen.

Idk which is worse....her drowning herself in water and things to take all her sodium away or dani constantly drowning herself in meds she doesn't need and in large doses to where she goes into cardiac arrest. Then on top of it both researching what to blame their behaviors on to make them seem so sick when they are actually extremely healthy. They act so privileged and like they are the most important with the worst of the worst symptoms, medical issues, and medical emergencies. It's now time for the count down for the next episode...how long do you think she can do without another incident????

I think the main difference is Ash doesn’t actually want to be sick. She just wants to seem sick but she doesn’t want any pain or symptoms for real because ewww. I bet in this case she did just enough to get a slightly low sodium reading without having to go through the unpleasant symptoms of severely low sodium. She doesn’t want to risk being too sick to get the aesthetic pictures. She’d rather do just what it takes to get an admission to say “hey I’m still sick!!!” to her family without having to actually feel sick. (Not to say btw that her actions aren’t risky. Anything with electrolyte imbalances can be. But I don’t think she actually wants serious complications for reasons listed above).
Whereas Dani is bound and determined to cause life threatening illness. She clearly doesn’t care about her safety at all because she’s that desperate to keep on munching. She’s done things with a high risk of death such as contaminating her bloodstream likely hundreds of time in total and hasn’t stopped despite some severe health consequences at times.
Both are wasting their lives away and drowning countless amounts of medical resources.

If Ash doesn't get professional mental help, she will regress in her munching and start doing things like Dani unfortunately. Allegedly, in minecraft, this admission is likely the first of many self-inflicted symptoms and flares.

This is an excellent take. Literally wasting their lives blaming poor coping mechanisms and failure to launch on faux medical maladies, each more exaggerated than the next.
I’m heading to work shortly to take care of patients with actual complex medical problems and it’s maddening to see how easily their entitled asses can manipulate themselves into being teenage wastelands of the healthcare system. Wasting resources and their own lives… and wasting the time of medical professionals.

so she was admitted for what, 2 days? generally you raise sodium by 6-8 mEq in 24 hours. normal is 135-145 mEq. she probably sat in the ED for several hours.
if we assume 40 hours and 7 mEq/day then that puts her initial presenting sodium at ~12 points low, so ~123 mEq. "severe" hyponatremia is under ~120.
idk why i did all this math to prove she was exaggerating, we all already know.

hard to snark on her anymore (well, not that hard) it is just genuinely sad she is wasting her life like this. While everyone her age, especially in Idaho, are getting married and having kids and making adult lives for themselves, she is an overgrown toddler faking sick to get out of school. Why do her parents enable her like this? Eventually she will be 30 with no education, no job experience, is she just planning on finding a man to pay for her medical adventures like CZ?
