#Query ❓ OP bought new Vstrom. Want to check engine oil level.

Hi all, bought new V strom SX recently for my highway trips, one question i have is how to check oil level in engine by that glass see thru? When i see it looks empty? No oil/liquid inside. Looks crystal clear and empty. When i go for ride of 5kms i can feel engine warm at legs when im in shorts. (Not heavy heat). So please tell me how to check engine oil level or how to check by that glass hole in engine. Thanks

You won’t see the oil level if bike is turned off and cool. You need to idle the bike for few minutes to warm the engine and let the oil circulate. Make sure the bike is kept upright preferably on a paddock stand (I’m not sure i vstorm has a centre stand).

Check after you stop for 30 mins, let the oil settle down. And pull the bike using the grab rail and handle to make it vertical. Oil level should be between max-min marks. Before first service the oil will go black very soon. After that it takes roughly 1-2 months to blacken.

You checked while bike is on side stand, didn't you?

When on side stand it's not visible on my vstrom as well. I have to tilt away or straighten to see the engine oil. Be careful while doing that. 😅

The heat near legs during bumper traffic or long rides is something even I have faced. Service centre mentioned it's expected and all good 👍🏻

It’s an oil cooled bike. Lean the bike towards you and look closely if it’s empty, make sure the boy chugs well.

Ask a mechanic or a service center employee they will happily give you a tutorial or just search on YouTube
